Andrea couldn't remember the last time her ID had been so thoroughly checked.
She was used to going through screenings at the police station. She needed to prove who she was when she met with suspects, when she viewed evidence, when they gave her access to certain parts of the building… Never had the police grilled her as thoroughly or inspected her ID as minutely as they were today. And she wasn't being scrutinized half as carefully as Kyle.
They both knew what this was about. Kyle had been through this process before with previous cases, and they hadn't given him nearly as much grief. But today, he wasn't just a lawyer, he was also a suspect.
Kyle did his best to keep his temper and endure the delay. Finally though, when the officer flipped over his ID for what felt like the fifth time, he'd had enough.
