Either Andrea was getting used to being chauffeured, or she felt like she had something more important to do than drive, because she didn't even argue about getting into the passenger seat.
The drive home was unusually quiet. Andrea spent the entire time tapping away at her phone. Kyle asked at one point what she was doing, she explained in great detail the work she was doing reviewing case files. It didn't strike Kyle as anything that urgent. Probably more productive than what he normally did during their commute—trying to spot Steel tailing them between gazing at Andrea.
Back at the apartment, Kyle was looking forward to getting a warm shower and a fresh change of clothes. But, chivalry first. He could wait. Let her take all the hot water she needed.
"How about you take first dibs on the bathroom," he suggested.
"No. You go ahead," Andrea said, dropping her purse on the counter and heading for the bedroom. "I'll just change."
