The next morning was… not awkward… but there was a definite change in the air of the apartment. Or maybe it was all in her head. Andrea could feel a deep-set fatigue building with each restless night; she could easily be sensing more than was really there.
She didn't mention the previous evening. She did tell Kyle about the email from Simon. Briefly. Quickly adding that the only reason she didn't tell him earlier was that she didn't want to think about it. It was gone, done, and what did he add to these eggs to make them so good?
After a scrutinizing look, he revealed crème fraîche as the key addition, and for her sake, moved on.
For his part, Kyle didn't say anything about last night either. The only hint was how happy he looked the entire time they were getting ready. Just the biggest grin on his face—that was real.
