Andrea stood at the mirror, staring at herself while she washed her hands. She glanced toward the open doorway. Odd that Kyle hadn't come in when he heard her at the sink. That was definitely grounds for suspicion, but she continued getting ready for bed anyway.
She leaned in and pulled a few faces, checking her eyes and overall appearance. It had been another stressful day, but she was definitely looking more herself than she had that morning. As long as there weren't any unexpected phone calls, she might actually sleep well tonight.
Kyle, it turned out, was again sitting comfortably on the sofa with his legs stretched out. One hand nonchalantly tucked behind his head, a familiar book perched in the other. As Andrea entered the living room, he lowered the book just enough to peer over the top.
"Am I going to have to start locking my bedroom even when I'm not in it? And don't blame this on Burrito, he was in the bathroom with me!"
