As much as Andrea had feared that Kyle would be a stressed, sweating mess by the time she got back, she almost found it more concerning how cool and collected he appeared. Just as concerning was the look on Madison's face… Like a cat that not only got the cream, but free run of the entire dairy.
Madison stood up, giving Kyle a smile as she did so. "Well, sounds like you two are very busy, so I won't keep you. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with the investigation." As she stepped out of the office, she leaned in close to Andrea's ear and whispered, "He's a keeper!" And then was gone before Andrea could react.
"Why did she say that?" Andrea asked.
"Why did she say what?" Kyle asked, with a suspicious innocence.
For all Andrea knew, they had conspired together to have Madison say that as a prank. She'd worry about that later. On reflection, she had more important questions. "What did you tell her?"
