Kyle could feel his eyes glazing over again and was about to suggest another coffee run when Andrea's phone rang.
He glanced over to see who it was, but Andrea didn't seem to know either.
"Hello, Public Defenders Office, Andrea Mason speaking… Yes, hello, I'm sorry, I didn't recognize your number… No, I guess it's been Vargas who called before." She held her hand over the phone for a moment and mouthed Detective Nguyen to Kyle.
Nguyen, she was Vargas's partner. Thinking back, Kyle wasn't sure he'd even heard her speak. The embarrassing incident with the one-way glass in the interview room was probably the first time Andrea had met her. She'd been present most of the times that Vargas had talked to Kyle in the initial hours after his arrest, but just watched and took notes while Vargas did the talking.
