Tears of joy come out of my eyes as I hear her sweet voice.
"Aunt Fiona?"
"Surprise!!"
I smile like a psycho at the sound of her voice. "When did you wake up?"
"Oh, I woke up just a few hours ago, but I'm feeling great. I just had one long nap, you know? Anyway, less about myself and more about you. How's your new school? Tell me everything. I want to know all the details of today."
I can't stop smiling. This is officially the best day of my life.
I began to tell my aunt every single thing that had happened today, and we talked for hours like two teenagers gossiping.
"Well, dear, I'm glad you made so many friends. I hope this school will treat you better than the other one."
"Thanks, Auntie. I'm so happy you're feeling better, too. You should come to visit someday. Florida is a beautiful place."
"Will do, honey."
We told each other good night before ending the call.
I decided to take a quick shower since I was really tired. After that, I lay on my bed, and before I could even put my phone aside, I drifted off to sleep.
It's two in the godforsaken morning.
And my phone is buzzing so damn much.
Who would text someone in the middle of the night?
I grab my phone to put it on silent, but I needed to know who I was going to murder tomorrow.
And then I saw that:
*7 new messages from JATTO*
Wtf? What is that? I can't remember being in a group chat called that. Plus, what does it even mean?
I got curious, so I decided to check it out.
The chats:
~Alex(unsaved): guys, the new name is cool. I can't believe I came up with that. I'm so snart.
~Alex(unsaved): smart*
~Thea(unsaved): Alex, wtf does 'Jatto' even mean?
~James(unsaved): Go to bed, kids. U have school tmr.
~Alex(unsaved):(replying to Thea) It's the initials of our names!! The old name sounded so boring. I mean, come on, we couldn't come up with anything other than "Campbell's rulers". Now that Liv is part of our group, we needed an update.
~Alex(unsaved):(replying to James) It's still 2 Jamess. Relax, we have plenty of time to sleep.
~Theo(unsaved): You invented the old name too, Alex. Both sound just as dumb as each other.
~Thea(unsaved): guys, what if Liv is still asleep? We might wake her up with all those messages.
I didn't know if I should be concerned about how they got my number or laugh at Alex's stupidity once again.
I decided to respond.
Me:(replying to Thea): Too late. Already did.
~Thea(unsaved): I warned y'all.
~Alex(unsaved): Omg, Liv!! Heyyyyy
~James(unsaved): Don't worry, Olivia. He's not on drugs. That's his normal self.
Me: You sure? Because he seems stoned.
~Theo(unsaved): Tbh, I think he's always stoned.
~Alex(unsaved): Guys, you know, I can see the messages. Being rude is rude.
~Thea(unsaved): Alex, go to bed.
~Alex(unsaved): you're not my mum Theaaaaa.
Me: wait, I have a question. How did y'all get my number?
~Alex(unsaved): Oh, I took your phone to see it. Easier like that.
~James(unsaved): Could you all please stfu? I'm trying to sleep.
Me: Aight, good night, guys.
~Thea(unsaved): good nightttt.
~Theo(unsaved): see you in a few hours.
~Alex(unsaved): good night everyone!!
~James(unsaved): Gn.
I turn my phone off and put a mental note to save their numbers tomorrow. Right now, I'm exhausted. I drift off to sleep once again.
....
I should sue the person that created this alarm ringtone. This person is the real cruel monster of this earth.
I get out of bed and head to the bathroom to freshen up a bit. After doing my business, I go to my closet and admire my school uniform for a bit. I've never had to wear a uniform before.
In my old school, we could wear whatever we wanted. But actually, this ensemble isn't that bad after all. It's a dark blue skirt with a matching blazer and a tie. Under the blazer, we had to wear a white shirt, which both had in them the school's initials.
I tried it on and was satisfied with the look. It gives off rich school vibes. Not like this is one of the most expensive schools ever. I decided to put the blazer aside, though, and roll up the sleeves since it was a really hot day. I tie my hair up and make my way to breakfast.
I wanted to go there with Thea, but she wasn't answering the door, so I think she's already there.
As I was walking down the halls leading to the cafeteria, three girls walked up to me. One blond girl who looked like those wannabe queen bees was standing in front of two redheads.
The blond one spoke first.
"Uh, so hi! You're the new girl, right? I'm so happy that we will be friends. Oh my god, do you have other friends, too? You should introduce them to me. I mean, your friends are my friends, too, right?"
She gave me the most plastic-filled fake smile ever.
I remembered then how they all told me how there were people who would try to befriend them, but they were weird. She must be one of them.
"I'm sorry, but I have to head to the cafeteria, so could you please excuse me?" I try to be as nice as possible, so I wouldn't get on her nerves.
"Well, we could go together, right? Come on, girls, let's go to her table."
"Umm, I'm sorry, but I can't let you sit with us. My other friends might not like you."
-I don't like you-
"Oh no, I'm sure they will adore me, right girls?"
The two redheads behind her nodded like it was the truest thing in the world.
I didn't know how I could escape from this conversation, so I allowed my intrusive thoughts to win and made a run for it.
I can't see the girl's face, but I'm sure she's extremely mad. Still, I continue running like my life depends on it, and when I make it to the cafeteria, I run to the middle table and fall into James' lap.
My face turns bright red, and I immediately get up.
"I'm so so so so sorry. I don't know what's happening to me."
James looked at me with a smirk.
"Relax, Olive. It's no big deal."
"Olive? Have you already forgotten my name?"
"Why? Don't you like it? It suits you and your eyes."
He's not wrong, though. I did get called Olivia because I had eyes the colour of olives. I can't help but blush at the thought that James gave attention to such a little thing. I don't know why, but I started smiling too.
"Uhm, I don't care that James called you with a food name, but what I care about, though, is why on earth were you sprinting like you were running a marathon?"
I roll my eyes at Alex's remark and explain to them the encounter I had in the hallways and how the only thing that came to my mind to stop the conversation was running away from it.
Everyone fell into a small silence before bursting out laughing.
Thea is the first one to explain to me who's this.
"Oh my god, that's Amber. This girl thinks she's all that and that she's popular and is always trying desperately to be part of our friend group."
James scoffs. "She's pathetic. Slept with her once while I was drunk, and she thought we were officially dating."
Alex laughs even louder. "I remember that! It was so hilarious how she would come up to our table and try to sit next to us. We wouldn't let her, so she would start acting like a baby "Oh my god, Jamieee, why are your friends being so rude? I'm your girlfriend. You should let me sit beside you!!" then James embarrassed the shit out of her in front of most of the school."
Theo adds, "But she's still trying to be friends with us. Doesn't she get the hint?"
I was about to talk when I heard a voice calling my name behind me. I instantly recognized her annoying high-pitched voice and turned around slowly.
"Livviee!!! You didn't have to lead the way. I knew it just fine! So, are you going to introduce me to your friends?"
Alex laughs so hard that everyone here turns to look at us.
"Livvie is even worse than James' nickname for Liv. I mean, come on, do I have to teach everyone how to invent names? 'Oh, my god, Livviee!!' Like seriously, please, take your nonsense elsewhere, Amber."
"Jamie has a nickname for... Her?" She gritted her teeth, looking irritated.
I wanted to intervene, to say that it was nothing and that I told her that my friends wouldn't like her, but again James cut me off. Can't I ever speak for myself?
"Firstly, don't ever call me that name. I have a name, and that's James. Secondly, yes, I do have a nickname for Olivia, but that's none of your business, Amber. Now, you have nothing to do here; please annoy someone else with your irritating voice."
Amber grabs her two minions and heads to another table, feeling all embarrassed.
I can't believe there are still people who think they own the school.
After that little accident with little miss barbie, it was finally time to head to my first classes. I had science for the first period, and sadly none of them had that class, so I went there by myself.
When I enter the class, whispers emerge from every seat. Is there a fricking giant zit in my face or what?
I sit in the only empty set in the classroom and grab my stuff out of my bag. It took me a moment to realise who was sitting next to me—David bloody Sommers—. Why did he have to be here to ruin my first class?
I prayed that he would just ignore me, but I fear it was a bit too late for prayers.
"Look who's here."
I ignored him. Maybe he will give up one day and just ignore me too.
"Forgot how to talk, huh?'
"Shut up; I'm trying to concentrate."
"Science is boring. Trust me; you'll be much more entertained with me."
"I'll pass on that."
"So what, now that you became friends with James' group, you think you're too cool to speak with me?"
"No, I just don't want to talk to you. What, did I break your little heart, David? Too bad.'
"You're a feisty one, I see."
"And you're a dumbass, I see."
I just couldn't wait for this class to end so I could get away from him.
He still slipped snarky comments throughout the hour, but I tried to ignore them as much as I could.
Just as the bell rang, I quickly got out of the class and went straight to my locker to put my stuff away.
I realised that David was following behind me, so I quickened my pace. As fast as I went and as much as I looked for someone I knew to go to, I couldn't get away from him, and before I knew it, I was dragged into an empty classroom.
I was about to scream when I saw that the actual person that dragged me was an unfamiliar cute boy. He was a brunette, a bit taller than me, and was in the football team, seeing his jersey.
"Hey, I'm sorry I dragged you in here. I didn't mean to scare you, but I realised you were running away from David, so I thought I'd take you somewhere safer."
Safer. Huh, interesting. I'm starting to suspect that David hasn't changed a bit since "that" time.
"Uh, yeah, thanks. Is it normal for him to chase the new girls around school and scare the crap out of them?"
Cute not chuckled and looked at me with a wide smile.
"No, not really. But he has a tendency to chase around girls who reject him. He claims that 'he always gets what he wants'. Creepy, I know. But I can't comment about it, or he'll get me kicked out of the football team since he's the captain. So does everyone. So nobody stands up to him." He looked at me with a sad, disappointed smile.
"Hey, it's ok, I understand."
"By the way, I'm Jackson. You're Olivia, right?"
"Yeah, how did you know?"
"You've gotten pretty famous since you became friends with James and the others."
That explains all the whispers.
"I should tell you, though; they aren't the nicest people, and you should find better friends. Especially James. He barely shows any emotion. He's like stone-cold."
I frowned. "Don't judge them like that. I've only been friends with them for two days, and they have already treated me better than anyone has ever treated me. People judge them so fast in this school; it's pathetic."
Jackson put his arms up in defence. "Hey, I'm just saying, that's what I heard."
"Well, you shouldn't believe every rumour you hear."
"Alright, well, I'll see you later."
He used for a moment, uncertain of what to say.
"Do you want to watch our match tonight?"
I didn't have any plans, so I thought, why not?
"Sure, I'll go."
"Great, see you there."
After Jackson leaves, I peek my head out a bit to make sure David isn't waiting for me out there. After I check for the thousandth time that the coast is clear, I head to my next class, French.
I like French since I spent a lot of my vacations in France; I can speak French better than some, at least. I just hope this class will be better than the first one.

Chapter 3 doneee!!! So what do y'all think of the new boy?
Is he trustable, or not?
And just a side note, I loved reading French. In fact, I speak fluent French and English even though they aren't my main languages.
I hope you liked this chapter.
