A day passed after the dog, Haiiro, was e̶n̶s̶l̶a̶v̶e̶d̶ (Contracted) into joining the team.

"Stop! You there! Hand over your Vision—it's the Vision Hunt Decree!" The command echoed through the night as chaos erupted across the streets. The Shogunate soldiers moved in tight formations, their spears gleaming in the moonlight. Among them, the commanders stood out, their katanas at the ready as they pursued a lone figure through the shadows.

It was a restless night on Narukami Island, especially in Ritou. A blond man, dressed in red, sprinted through the narrow streets, desperately trying to outrun the Shogunate forces on his heels. He wielded a spear with practiced skill, making it clear he was a Vision bearer. His name was Thoma—a fact that had quickly spread among the pursuers, thanks to a sharp-eyed informant.

Thoma hailed from Mondstadt, and his appearance was striking. He was tall, with vibrant green eyes and messy blond hair, which was kept short at the front but tied back into a ponytail.

His outfit was a mix of Mondstadt and Inazuman styles: a short-sleeved brown shirt, blue trousers, and a red jacket with brown sleeves. Leather armor plates adorned his waist, along with a metal headband and pendant that caught the light as he moved. His sandals, fingerless gloves, and the red cloth tied around his waist all added to his distinct look, making him easy to spot even in the chaos of the night.

There he was, the commander, sprinting after his target with a katana in hand, clearly growing weary. His movements were clumsy, revealing that he wasn't truly skilled with the blade. Any seasoned martial artist would have said he was more suited to a polearm, but he continued his reckless charge, his form messy and uncontrolled.

This man was the former owner of the Cryo Vision that Haiiro had consumed. His past was a fog, his memories faded and nearly forgotten. Now, he was little more than a hollow shell, a puppet stripped of his ambitions, chasing something he could no longer truly grasp. And now he merely following the role of a "Squad Commander" that everyone says he was.

And... he failed.

"Augh!?" While leading the squad he fell down. His subordinates still move on the chase despite that. The formation was broken, but they still resume the chase.

Thoma darted past the guard post, moving with calculated precision. Originally he was supposed to be intercepted by a commander wielding a cryo Vision, but violence wasn't an option for him. Without the ability to fight back, he was quickly surrounded. Thanks to Haiiro's intervention, the commander's ambitions were shattered, and he had lost the ability to use his powers. This led to the current predicament.

As Thoma navigated through the narrow alleyways lined with food stalls, he found himself cornered by a dead end. Thinking quickly, he summoned his polearm and vaulted over the barrier with the agility of a seasoned athlete. The moment he landed on the other side, he dispelled his weapon, leaving no sign of his escape. The Shogunate soldiers arrived moments later, only to find themselves staring at an empty alley.

"Split up! Half of you, circle around to the other side!" a soldier barked. Without wasting a second, half of the group rushed to find another route, twisting and turning through the maze of streets. The remaining soldiers scaled the wall, determined to trap Thoma if he was hiding nearby, ready to ambush him at the first opportunity.

The soldiers were too preoccupied to notice that Thoma was actually nearby—right under their noses, in fact. But he wasn't hiding. Thoma lay unconscious, pinned to the ground, being dragged by a rough hand belonging to a figure in a black cloak adorned with red clouds. It was Kakashi.

"Should we just leave him here?" Kakashi asked, glancing at the swarm of Shogunate soldiers scouring the streets of Ritou in search of Thoma. Despite having already taken Thoma down and knocking him out cold, Kakashi's new stealth technique, combined with his mastery of Universal Affinity, was working almost too well.

"Leaving him somewhere they'll find him should do the trick," I replied, standing beside him. While Kakashi remained in his Akatsuki robe, the rest of us had chosen to blend in by wearing kimonos.

After realizing we didn't have much money, Rimuru used his skills to create Moras, the currency of this world. He still complained about Riko giving him a female kimono after we bought the clothes, but aside from him, I stood out the most. Riko-chan had braided my hair at the back, letting it fall past my shoulders, just like hers.

As for Haiiro, our smartphone-less member, has basically become my loyal puppy. I even bought him a collar—such a thoughtful owner, right? It's always attached to my hand, gripping it tightly, even though I could just toss him into my Kamui dimension anytime. But no, I prefer the hands-on approach. Aren't I just the best owner?

"Ruff... (This is fucking embarrassing...)" (Haiiro)

"We should leave him there. That vendor's place is closed; it'll do," Rimuru suggested, adjusting his kimono.

"Alright," Kakashi said, as he carried Thoma to the closed vendor and left him at the front door. He then returned to our side and, with a smile, asked, "Should we leave?"

"Not yet," I replied, watching him approach. "We should observe from a distance. We haven't received any notification that the Follow-up sequence is complete."

They agreed with my suggestion, and we started heading toward a nearby street. Maybe there are still a few vendors open—I've been craving some dangos since earlier. We'll just leave a clone behind and... !!!

It was far off, so my magic perception didn't cover that area. But then, something flew toward us, entering the range of my perception. Rimuru and Kakashi sensed it too—a chirping, flashing object moving like an arrow, radiating intense heat.

Lightning crackled, flashing purple.

As it shot through the air, the three of us slowly turned to face it. Without hesitation, I stretched out my arm, casting a skill I usually keep hidden, except in emergencies. A bright magenta energy quickly enveloped us, forming a protective barrier.

The translucent waves of magenta light should have quickly taken shape, forming a ribcage-like structure to shield everyone from the incoming lightning arrows. But for someone like me, keeping my abilities under wraps is a rule I've always followed, even during my veteran days.

[Chakra-Spirit Manifestation is active]

It was my Susanoo.

However, the form was different. Instead of the usual ribcage from the original story, it appeared as a gas-like energy with a faint glow. It was enough to protect us without being easily identified as a Susanoo.

This… doesn't sit right with me. Whoever attacked forced me to reveal my powers in front of the others. I didn't even have time to activate Thought Acceleration or figure out my next move—I panicked a little. Great Sage… why didn't you warn me?

«Answer: Culprit has no killing intent.»

No killing intent? Are you kidding? Didn't you notice where she's aiming? She's targeting Riko—our weakest member.

«Answer: Individuals: Rimuru Tempest and Kakashi Hatake was already prepared for the attack.»

...!!!

Wha—? Looking again, I noticed Rimuru had his right hand raised, ready to cast Gluttony, and Kakashi had both Sharingan activated, preparing to use Kamui. I—I guess I got a little too worked up there.

"W-what was that?!" Riko exclaimed as the dust settled from the clash between the purple lightning and our protective barrier. Meanwhile, I quickly dispelled Susanoo completely.

Then we saw it—high up, one building stood out from the rest. A silhouette of a woman appeared. But to any normal person, she wouldn't look like a woman anymore; four wings suddenly unfurled behind her, adding an air of menace and mystery to her shadowy figure.

Thunder.

The purple lights flickered again. Where she stood, a flash of purple lightning struck, briefly illuminating her silhouette before she vanished. Moments later, three more bolts of lightning hit the ground, each one landing closer to us. The final bolt struck right in front of us.

As the thunder faded, the figure from before emerged, dramatically revealed with her bow in her left hand.

Tengu.

A race of Inazuma's inhabitants known for their mostly secluded lifestyle. At least, that's what I've heard about them in this world. While that's all info I can get from the mobs we encountered before, Haiiro had a different reaction.

"BARK BARK BARK?!? (The heck?! How is she here right now!? She shouldn't be here! This 4 star character should be somewhere else right now!)" (Haiiro)

Looks like we can still get more info out of the dog if we wanted to.

"Woof...!!! (Kujou Sara...!!!)"
