Characters
Elyse – the main character, a female thief and mercenary who works with her friend, Verity. She is an orphan from the legendary Pink Islands and refers to herself as a street rat since she didn't have a home for a long time. She looks up to Verity as both a sister and an Elder, with respect and awe. She would die for the people she loves and has very little sense of right or wrong. While in possession of the Book of Death, she learns some disturbing things about herself but also the past and the world she lives in.
Verity – a slightly older daughter of some former merchants, that then turned into back-alley businesses as the war came to her beloved Island. She has since made a fortune doing dirty business together with Elyse in the Pits of the town where they ended up as refugees. She is trying her best to protect her people and the ones she cares about but sometimes goes about it the wrong way.
Mikhael – a witch hunter turned healer that lives outside of town, all by himself. He finds Elyse when she was being chased by Dredge hounds for stealing the Book of Death and taking care of her. He has lost people he loved and is trying to help Elyse to make up for some of his dark past. What he did and who he was during the war is something he wishes to forget.
Uriel – a mischievous devil who made a bargain with the wrong king a long time ago. He lost the love of his life to the king and swore that if she was ever reborn, he would bring down the entire continent to protect her. He can appear in both demonic and human form, although he is greatly weakened and can only use his power for a short time.
Iilan – an emperor of the kingdom of Yeonmo that made a bargain with a demon to save his unborn daughter, bringing destruction to his once peaceful and beautiful kingdom.
Eania – daughter of Iilan, a princess born with incredible magical abilities that fell in love with Uriel instead of the demon she was promised to. Eania tried to conquer her mortality and in an act of love, she locked away some of her powers in a tome, to be awakened when she was born again.

Places
Emerald City – also known as the City of Emeralds, is a huge mountain city carved out from the rocks that carry said mineral. It is one of the four mineral cities, that are the pillars of the continent and have different purposes and aesthetics. Emerald City is a dark and gloomy city if you look at it from the outside, but being the easternmost city, they have a lot of culture and gastronomic influence on the rest of the continent. However, the magistrate of EC is considered a cruel and greedy man, who holds his entire army to himself, not fighting in the war or protecting the people from the coming Death Mist.
Crescent City – is home to the spirits of the continent. This is where most of the priests and priestesses live, dedicating themselves to the universe and, more specifically, the Moon Deities. From here, the four that call themselves heroes come, to fight the evil that is haunting the continent. The magistrate here is said to be the daughter of the moon. She herself holds no real spiritual or magical power but is guided by her many acolytes.
The city is the second Capital of the continent, its sister city being Eclipse City, home to the daughter of the Sun.
The Pits – a small, dirty, and plague-ridden overpopulated part of town where most refugees end up after fleeing from the island outside of the continent. The rest of town is for merchants, scholars, and rich aristocrats who pay little attention to the suffering of the lower classes or refugees.
The kingdom of Yeonmo – an ancient kingdom of humans and spirits alike. They say it was always a bright pink light over the kingdom, a sign of the blessings from all the deities, the sky specked with stars, and the two crescent moons shining of pure silver at night. A black and a white dragon, spirits of the first settlers, guarding the walls of the kingdom. Brought to destruction by their last emperor, who tried to fool an ancient demon with his conceit.
