Chapter 29 - Sword duels

Yes, I'm your senior, so you listen to me," said Xi Shi with a hateful gaze.

"There are lots of servants to do that, okay? I have no time for this drama," I said, after which I laid down on my bed while facing the opposite side away from her.

It's finally the second day of being a Mount Hua disciple. I woke up feeling energetic as I got ready for training after having my breakfast with other disciples.

I haven't seen Zhang Han for two days now. I know I saw him briefly last night, but he was out of sight before I knew it. I wonder what he's up to, I thought as I made my way into the sword school.

The master of the sword was already in the training ground with the new disciples circling the stage. She is a beauty to behold, dressed elegantly with her sword held by her.

"Yang Hua, you're late," said Feifei as soon as she sighted me. Mimi and Muyang were also present.

"I'm sorry," I apologized with a smile, while they replied with a nod.

"You're all present here, on your knees," commanded the master of the sword, as we all complied without wasting any more time.

We finally concluded the kowtow and were asked to stand up.

"The sword school is known all over the world for its top-notch swordsmanship," said the master of the sword as she cast a spell that brought out wooden swords, handing them over to all the new disciples.

"A wooden sword!" exclaimed Mimi excitedly.

"You'll make use of that for your practice from now on. Just consider it a real sword," said the master of the sword.

"Yes, teacher," we all chorused.

"Come over here!" commanded the master of the sword as she pointed toward Muyang.

"Me?" asked Muyang, looking all flustered.

"Yes! Muyang, go and defeat her," chorused the new disciples excitedly.

"I'll start with you, so hurry up and get up here," commanded the master of the sword, after which Muyang complied by going onto the training ground.

"You take the first three attacks. I'd like to see what you can do," said the master of the sword with a smirk, as Muyang aimed forward, wielding his sword.

The master of the sword was restraining herself for the first three attacks by Muyang, but she soon attacked fiercely after the three attacks. She wielded the wooden sword perfectly, giving Muyang a taste of her strength.

"She's fierce..." whispered one of the disciples, with his mouth wide open in awe.

"She's merciless..."

"What if she kills him..."

"You would have been dead if I was actually using a real sword," said the master of the sword as she leaned towards Muyang with a smirk, while he winced in pain.

"Come and take him away from here," she commanded, after which a servant carried Muyang on his back, while Fei Fei and I watched with our mouths open in shock.

"Did you hear that? She would have killed him if she was actually holding a real sword," said Mimi, with a flustered look.

"Who's next?" asked the sword master, but no one replied as we all moved backward with fear written all over our faces.

"No reply? Then I'll just pick someone myself. I'll pick you," she said, as she pointed her hand towards Fei Fei.

Fei Fei made her way up to the training ground majestically, without giving it a second thought, while I just stared at her in surprise.

I know she's quite good in swordsmanship, at least she knows a few moves, but will she really be able to defeat this woman? I thought with a worried expression.

Just as demonstrated between her and Muyang, Fei Fei was allowed to take the first three attacks before the real fight started between her and the master of the sword.

She was able to dodge the first attack of the master of the sword, leaving everyone in awe.

"Wow! She dodged," exclaimed Mimi with a burst of laughter.

"You really know a few moves, kid," said the master of the sword with a smirk, as she charged towards Fei Fei with speed.

Oh no, her movements and sword wielding are too fast now, I thought with a sad expression.

Crash... crash... crash...

Soon enough, Fei Fei was defeated by the sword master, as she was thrown down onto the training ground, hitting her back hard against the wall.

"Fei Fei!" yelled Mimi and I as we both rushed towards her, kneeling down beside her while she struggled to get up.

That evil woman, rather than teaching us, it seems she's just playing with us, I thought angrily, after we helped Fei Fei to her feet.

"Seems you're really having a great time, sword master. We're not toy things. We put our lives on the line to come to Mount Hua sect to become better disciples, not to be treated as playthings. We deserve better!" I yelled as I stormed angrily forward.

"You sure have some nerve. Are you angry because of your friends?" she asked, with her gaze directly fixed on me.

"I'm just telling you to teach us what we need to know. We have no time to play with you," I replied angrily.

"Alright! I want to see what you can do. Come up and have a duel with me," she said with an angry expression.

"No, Hua, you will only get hurt," persuaded Fei Fei and Mimi worriedly.

"What? You're scared to come up? I don't bite, you know," said the master of the sword.

"I'm not scared of bullies like you," I said, before getting up and heading to the training center.

"You can aim at me during the first three attempts, so start!" yelled the master of the sword as I wielded the wooden sword at her.

She dodged my first three attacks and started to attack me fiercely now, without giving me a break.

She's really powerful. How could I even think I can defeat her? You're such a fool, Hua, I thought, wincing in pain on the floor.

"Are you giving up already? I thought you wanted to avenge your friends," said the master of the sword with a smirk.

She wielded her sword against me, as I covered my face in defense, but she was soon stopped by a voice.

"Master of the sword is really the best among the three realms," said the voice. Looking up, it was Zhang Han.

"Zhang Han! What are you doing here?" asked the master of the sword with a stoic face.

"Greetings, teacher. I'm here to retrieve a disciple of mine," said Zhang Han with a bow.

"Off you go. Don't distract me. I have to teach this kid a lesson," she said, trying to wield her wooden sword at me.

"The one you want to teach a lesson is actually a disciple of the spell school. Please spare her," said Zhang Han with a smile.

"Huh! Her! I must say the spell school actually recruited a rude disciple this time," yelled the master of the sword.

"I'm sorry about that, but can I take her now? You've dealt with her enough already. She needs to be treated now," said Zhang Han.

"Alright, take her away from my sight," yelled the master of the sword at Zhang Han, as she turned her back against me.

Zhang Han ordered a servant to carry me on his back all the way to the spell school, while Fei Fei and Mimi stared at me in worry.
