Chapter 5 - The Secret Hidden in Blood

{pictures at some point}

Lamb short POV

As a dog lost its hair, its eyes showing death white, its teeth bitten in the blood of a tongue… it went for a lamb's throat! The lamb was scared…but more out of shock! Then fear! And out of its fear, grew the courage of a still light hidden deep in her blood…

As the birds fell, and the black rain pelleted the roof, the little lamb head grew a burning pain! A pain that glowed in fresh red, as horns grew from beneath her little halo! With a desire to live, the lamb's subconscious turned her head to allow the dog to chew on her horns and not her neck!

With a sheering pain, that the dog did not feel, its mouth burned black, while its teeth crumbled to dust! With a floppy jaw, the dog continued its pursuit of the lamb. When the lamb screamed in her baby mind:

[get away from me!]

Words that caused the halo above her head to shine in a beautiful glow… a glow that formed the shepherds' crest! And like a door made of magic descriptions… it opened by the tar-dripped hands of a demon! When it piled opened, a head of crying sheep of a malformed kind that came from the devil himself, opened its cursed mouth to cry, a horrid sound!

With a crazed eye, the head of the sheep stared into the hound that couldn't move now! For when its eye opened through its sealed tears, the world turned into static… while the world colors changed to red and black! To the little lamb's eyes the hound was frozen stiff as if it was but a doll, but in the world of the unseen, the hound was trapped in chains made of black tar with a fire-red vein! The chains themselves dripped in droplets of tar and fire that words fail to describe!

And in that world, the hound was made into a statue, as the sheep head called upon its servants! With black hoods and wings made of ravens, and scythes as cold as the abyss! The servants each chose a side… as they struck down as one! When their strike was over the world of the unseen, shattered like glass! With it shattering, the hound's body fell apart into four different chucks as if a hot beam ravaged it!

As it fell apart in front of the lamb, the baby lamb felt tired as its glowing halo dimmed… it was then as Lanthios entered the room, that the lamb lost control and fell to the floor.

Current time:

As Lanthios stared at the corpse of his dog in shock, the lamb wanted to approach him, but then saw a small tear run down Lanthios's cheek… and thought to itself it would be better to wait until he was ready…. But they didn't have long, for as Lanthios beheld the head of his dog in his arms, the windows downstair exploded! While the wind rushed so violently that even the windows upstairs blew apart! The tiles on the roof began to break... as creatures of the forest slowly started to creep into the bottom floors!

Sensing the monster approaching, the lamb quickly got tired of waiting for this caretake of hers to get moving, thus with nerves running high, she ran up to Lanthios and nimble gently on his clothes to get his attention.

Feeling something tugging at his clothes, Lanthios turned to look down at the lamb, and with deep breaths, he simply nodded and got up without a word. And as he looked at the exit to the room, he clenched the dagger in his hands tightly.

[let go…] said Lanthios with deep hidden meaning

But while they headed down the stairs, Lanthios quickly stopped mid-way, as he could hear the sounds of plates breaking, the sound of his furniture snapping, he could hear the floor creaking, and the monster's unending gurgles… like that of someone drowning while they were walking…

He could hear the hooves' imprints with each step, could smell the rot of a dying carcass… Lanthios knew he wouldn't win in a fight against so many… with fear running down his back, Lanthios slowly crouched down by the stairs, seeing if there was a way out, to flee into the outside, but then he remembered what he saw outside… And he instantly killed that idea while thinking:

[umm… there is no escape… there's nowhere to go… I can't outrun so many monsters… but maybe if I were to use the lamb as bait… no… if even then the forest is probably swamped with those things…]

But with a mind distracted, he heard the sound of a nasal discharge right below him! With black porous goo flying onto the walls! Now nervous but determined, Lanthios slowly took a peek over the stairs to see the silhouette of a sheep with half its face gone! And a body that dragged its open organs with it! We're out of it fur, grew stillborn lambs! Heads and mouths gasping for air, with multiple eyes and limbs! With black birds pecking at its open sores!

Scared the monster would see him, Lanthios slowly started to inch himself away from the stairs when he heard a bang on the front door!

[bang…bang… bang…]

With eyes at the front, the monster under the stairs didn't move…until the zombie birds started chirping at the window… their song matching the banging of the door! But then like a switch was hit everything grew quiet! Not a sound could be heard! And not a breath that could be felt….

It was in that moment of relative peace, that Lanthios started to relax a little… when a blackish, hellish hand burst through the front door! Its flesh was torn away, where bone and brittle claws covered sporadic hair… a hand with black muscles and dripping in dark tar….

As the lengthy arm slithered back out, the door made one final bang!

[BANG!]

And with that bang, the thunder flashed in a dusky orange and red color, to show a tall creature's silhouette! With matted decayed fur, that stood on two legs, with ribs you could count, and bugs infesting its exposed skin… with an old farm bell on its waste, that chimed with each upsetting motion it made…

The monster at the door stole Lanthios' breath, its very presence sending him an urge of pure fear, that made the beast below the stairs seem like a cute pet… thankfully the monster seemed uninterested in actually coming into the house and vanished with the next flashing of light!

Seeing the monster disappear, Lanthios drew a breath of relief as he thought:

{Thank the gods that monster didn't come in… just the thought of that 'thing' coming inside….

[lanthios makes a shutter motion, before continuing:]

{Well, that's it… going outside is not happening! I dare not think what the monster would do to me if it actually saw me… I better get the Lamb and just…} thought Lanthios as he suddenly stopped thinking and felt something starting at him…

With a feeling of an eye on him, Lanthios turned his head slightly to the right to see, the beast that was just below the stairs… staring right at him!

With a wide mouth filled with blacked and broken teeth, with breath as fresh as a graveyard, the beast form below roared point blank at Lanthios! Startled, Lanthios reflexively jabs his dagger into the half-broken face of the monster! As the knife carved the monster's flesh, it felt to Lanthios, that the dagger was stabbing ground beef. It had no resistance but a viscous uncomfortable feeling.

But what scared Lanthios the most, wasn't the unpleasant feeling of the dagger, nor was it the sight of the bugs crawling over it and out of the wound… but the fact that the monster didn't scream or change its emotionless face! It was like the monster couldn't feel the dagger in its head!

Thinking quickly, Lanthios tore out his dagger and kept stabbing in the head, none stopped! But it did little to encourage him, as the monster just ignored such feeble attacks! Panicking, Lanthios abruptly removed his dagger, drawing all kinds of bugs to fly everywhere and pouring black blood onto the floor! But the second that he did that, the creature's back exploded in black blood! Sending bones and fur and bugs splashing onto the hallway floor! As the blood discharged out of the monster's back, out came a hellish hand!

As the birds that pecked at the monster flew in a frenzy, the hand formed of twisted bone and razor blood reached for Lanthios! Seeing the hand come for him, Lanthios quickly blocked the hand strike with his dagger! But the power in that single strike was enough to knock Lanthios through the upstairs bathroom door!

As blood dripped down Lanthios's forehead, the creatures in the house could smell it! And like sharks in the ocean, they went into a frenzy! Including the monster on the stairs! As Lanthios came to, he saw the hellish hand just out of reach… while the monster, tried to awkwardly climb the stairway vertically but was unable to do so… while its hand fought off other monsters from going up the stairs!

{cough… I thought I was going to die! Thank the gods this 'thing' is stupid and doesn't know how stairs work… or I'll be dead by now!} thought Lanthios as he took a breather.

But as he was trying to figure out what to do next, the little lamb stared sadly at the monster that was on the stairs! She didn't know why she felt such a feeling about such a 'thing' but she just felt Like it shouldn't be this way….

But while the kids were busy with a house full of monsters, the city of the sun was having its own panic!

Andrel short POV

As Andrel finished his inspection on the wards that kept the rain out, he received a strange call…

[Andrel! Andrel! Please for the love of the sun god Andrel! Please pick up the damn device!] screamed a voice-over Andrel magic box that carried many voices.

Puzzled and worried, Andrel opened the box, to hear the echo of a screaming woman! Her distressful voice out carrying the others…

[Please of the love of God! Just come to the children's hospital!] screamed the voice until it suddenly went silent!

[That voice… was that, Antheia? What is she doing at the children's hospital… she doesn't have kids… much less a husband… also the other voices… I think… they were the other members of the council… Just what is going on?] thought Andrel as he left his office in the magic tower

But what awaited Andrel outside his tower frightened him! For a man who lived all his life quietly in a cushy tower, the sight before him turned his stomach! Black water rules the waterways, as assaults of all kinds conquer the city! When the children cry, no one stops to help them…

{what is going on?} screamed Andrel as he showcased his power to stop the madness of the people!

When pentagrams of magic and arcane energy of color began to swirl around Andrel, the people stopped what they were doing... They stopped their mindless destruction of property and attacks! With darkness leaving their eyes they looked at Andrel with shivering bodies…

{You there!} called out Andrel to a random busybody

{Explain to me what the hell is happening!} continued Andrel

[I… I don't know… it... Just…] replied the scared man

{just what! Spill it out!} argued back Andrel

[The people going crazy… they… attack…. water….] said the man as his demeanor began to change from scared to crazy!!

With a twitching head and the white of his eyes showing, the man spoke in a foreign tongue:

[The road is ready! The soul chosen! In death…new life…]

{what are you saying!} screamed Andrel as he could not understand the words the man said!

But as he continued to press the man, the man's head shook violently until it abruptly stopped! The strange man then stared right into Andrel's eyes in pure blackness and said:

[Baaaa!]

Boom! His head then exploded into a shower of black blood! Now, seeing the strange man's head exploding while in the arms of Andrel, the crowd of people panicked and went into a frenzy again!

{Just what did I miss? JUST WHAT IS GOING ON!} screamed Andrel as his eyes turned to the children's hospital.
