The group of invaders (that is what I have decided to call them) continued their progress deeper into my dungeon. They entered the second room, and it was much the same as the first, but the only difference was that they were slightly more experienced, if there were any differences.
There were 3 Lizard-Kin in the room, and like the last room, one was an archer and the rest were spearmen. As they saw the invaders, they took much the same formation as the first group, but ultimately they did not hurt any of them as the invaders were prepared against the formation this time, so they all died. Speaking of the first floor, Gobwolves are nearly replenished, so that is a plus. When I say nearly, I mean they are not adults yet but are close to being adults. They grow exceptionally fast, like mice. Considering that mice are known to reproduce quickly, but the Gobwolves have taken it a step further and also grow up faster. I did not expect this, but it is not really surprising, considering they were made, no, maybe evolved would be a better term. No, improved, that is better.
I direct my attention back to the invaders who have gone past room 5 and now have entered room 6, in which there are double the amount of Lizard-Kin. There are 2 archers and 4 spearmen. They take the same formation as the group of 3, the only difference is their numbers. But let's see how long they hold on for, then shall we?
The 4 spearmen line up in front of the archers, and while they are doing this, the archers pull the bowstrings back, releasing arrows that fly toward the invaders. However, the arrows were blocked by a sword, and the other arrow was blocked by another arrow, which was shot by their archer. I was actually shocked by this display of skill, considering the precision it would take to shoot another arrow in mid-air. The Girl, shot the arrow, stopping it from hitting its mark.
The 4 spearmen have finally gotten into formation and have lifted their spears and shields. The human at the front, who appears to be their leader, jumps forward and digs his feet into the ground. One of the spearmen puts their spear directly in his path, but he manages to stop himself, finally breaking a sweat, I believe, from having to use a lot of his stamina to stop himself.
The spearmen charge at him after he stops himself. The spearmen had to leave their shields dug into the ground behind them for speed, I believe they wanted to sacrifice themselves to kill him.
The archers continue hailing arrow after arrow at the rest of the party, who are currently moving to support their leader. Sadly, all of the arrows either missed or got blocked, but it was enough to slow them down, as they had to constantly look toward the archers for any arrows flying toward them.
The spearmen charge in, holding their spears in front of them. One even manages to pierce his arm, not doing any major damage but enough to the point where it would need to be bandaged, lest his arm become even weaker due to lack of blood. I do not believe he would bleed out from his arm, which is spewing out more and more blood the more he uses it, spraying in every direction. Some even got into his own eye, which he closed.
The spearmen continued their fight, which mostly consisted of charging, missing, and then charging again. But they had ultimately lost once the rest of the party got there. One was cut in half, another beheaded, and the rest got stabbed through their bodies and eventually died from blood loss. The archers had been shooting arrows this entire time, but they were always blocked or dodged. Anyways, they were swiftly rid of the one the spearmen died. Though they did attempt to pick up the spears scattered around the room, they could not do it fast enough, as one arrow was shot into one of their heads, another through the hand of the one reaching out for the spear, and one last one through the head, killing all of them. At this point, they bandaged their leader's arm, but he had lost a lot of blood. In the hand, it is safe to say that it will not be as powerful as before. To be clear, it was the left hand that got injured and bandaged.
The party then sat down or leaned against the wall, probably to regain stamina and strategize. However, the party members sat in silence, to my disappointment, as I had expected them to strategize. But they did not even have small talk, and after a while, they got back into their formation and continued going to the next room and the next, seemingly having gotten used to their formation again, as they would do the same thing continuously every single time. That is until they got to room 12, where there were 12 Lizard-Kin waiting for them: 4 archers and 8 spearmen. They took the same formation, but as the room was not too big, the rest of the spearmen got behind the ones in front, so 6 in front and 2 behind. The archers remained unchanged. They, like always, began shooting their arrows as soon as they had the chance to do so. But this time, the archers all shot at the same person, the one in front of them, their leader, the one with an injured left arm. He dodged the arrows, which then hit the person just behind him, impaling his body with arrows. Though none hit anything major, he was now rapidly bleeding out, and unless they end this fight quickly, he will die. The spearmen continued their usual routine, raising their spears, but what I found most interesting is that the spearmen behind put their spears in between the space between the Lizard-Kin in front of them, making it even more dangerous for the invaders, I mean.
There are now only 4 invaders remaining that can fight: 2 bodyguards, the female archer, and their leader, who I will just call a brawler as he only uses his hands in fights. One of the bodyguards has a limp from being hit by an arrow in the leg, but he has since steeled himself mentally.
Arrows continued to rain down on them, so they could not stay still or help their party member who was currently on the floor bleeding out. The entire party, except the archer, charged. The spearmen hid behind their shields, only moving their spears around, which caused some scratches to the humans but nothing more. The invaders decided to instead just break the spears. Though I do not understand why they did not do this before.
The Lizard-Kin spearmen picked up more spears from the ground, but as those were designed as decoration, they were not useful and broke faster until no spears were left. At which point, the Lizard-Kin decided to grab the tips of the spears, using them as daggers. At which point, they decided to charge past their shields, leaving them as shields and daggers don't exactly go together, and began to swing and stab at the invaders, missing every time or being blocked. At which point, they were quickly killed, much in the same way the previous groups of Lizard-Kin were killed.

The archers rained down arrows as the mercenaries, I guess, were going past the shields embedded into the ground, eventually getting past and slaying the archers who were still losing arrows at them.
The mercenaries took another break, sitting on the shields like they were chairs, to regain stamina, but this gave me time to think. Why were there mercenaries in my dungeon? Did someone hire them to deal with me, and if so, why? I would guess it could be because of those failures I sent to the village. It's possible they are just trying to get some quick cash from me, specifically my orb, as they had not picked up anything from my minions so that is my best guess.
Also, why were they wearing modern clothes, like something a businessman would wear? I just don't understand.
I have made up my mind. I need to know what the outside is truly like. I have to deal with countless contradictions. I thought I was in modern times, then medieval, and now modern again.
I will build up a massive force of Gobwolves to send out to investigate. I will also give them a good brain, so they can think. I don't want them to cause too much trouble; at least, I don't want any more attention than there already is. That would be more dangerous for me.
