"Okay, remember what we were contracted for: find the missing person, then get out. And if it becomes too dangerous, run," said the swordsman leading the party.
"Yeah, yeah, I get it," replied the ranger positioned behind and to the left of the swordsman.
"Okay, understood," said the mage positioned behind and to the right of the swordsman.
Hmm, I guess they must have been sent to check on the human I encountered earlier.
"Well, they seem more experienced compared to the previous guy, at least," I muttered.
I realized that my warriors could gain a lot of experience in their skills, or even acquire new ones. Sure, some might die, but sacrifices can be made, considering I have a lot of Gobwolf's now.
I ordered my close combat melee fighters to the front, and behind them, the long-range melee fighters, which are the Gobwolf's that use spears.
Then, I split them into groups of five: three close-range melee fighters and two long-range melee fighters. This way, they can fight in rows, and as the front group gets tired, they can swap with the next group, ensuring the humans don't get any time to rest.
The humans have finally entered my cave, and while their eyes are adjusting, I begin.
"Group 1, attack!" I named each small group, making a total of five groups.
The group charges forward, but something I did not take into account is the noise my minions make.
They quickly react. The ranger fires three arrows in the direction of the noise, instantly killing one close-range melee Gobwolf with a headshot. Nonetheless, the charge continues. The swordsman gets into position, and the mage begins channelling mana while chanting in a language I have never heard before.
The Gobwolf's reach the swordsman. The close battle Gobwolf's pounce, hitting his iron armour and breaking one arm, though not the arm wielding the sword. The spearmen plunge their spears, hitting the iron armour and making the attack ineffective.
"Shit," the swordsman says.
The mage has finished his chanting and channelling, unleashing a burst of flames toward the first group, hitting another close melee Gobwolf, burning it until it dies.
"Group 2, swap with Group 1."
Group 2's spears find gaps in the swordsman's armour, hitting the chainmail and causing a lot of pain. The close melee fighters continue to batter his armour, causing dents and small holes to appear in certain parts of the iron. This continues for a while.
"Group 3, swap with Group 2."
The mage has cast a ball of light that floats above them. "Group 4, charge the mage, and Group 5, charge the ranger." The swordsman grows tired from blocking and swinging, but manages to kill two close-range Gobwolf's before the arm holding the sword gives in and breaks. At that point, he starts to run but trips and gets stabbed and battered until his death. The rest of the party retreats to the entrance and eventually escapes.

Wow, it seems like my minions have gained a lot of skills, just as I had hoped. Unfortunately, the system doesn't mention if their already owned skills level up. Nevertheless, I take the equipment and armour off the dead swordsman for my crafter to study, and after that, it will be distributed to the ones best suited for it.
Speaking of which, I observed how the human mage used and channelled their mana. I focus on my mana, allowing it to flow and forming it into a ball, but I disperse it since I don't know how to convert my mana into flame. It seems to be something related to the staff the mage was holding, specifically the gem. Until I acquire a staff with a gem, I won't know how it's done, but it's only a matter of time now since the escapees will most likely report to their higher-ups or something similar.
Well, I better get back to my experiment that I was planning but was rudely interrupted. Now, where was I? Ah yes, back to the Gobwolf that is training mana.
Okay, he is still there, sitting and channelling mana. I decide to create another Gobwolf and separate him from the rest.
Next, I flow my mana into his body and create a core to withstand the mana. Then, I slowly and delicately flow mana into his head, not knowing what I'm doing. I spread it in his brain, at which point his brain swells up and eventually bursts into bits inside his skull. It seems I can't just put mana into his brain and hope for the best.
I make another Gobwolf and repeat the process, this time focusing my mana on specific parts of the brain. However, I get the same result.
I conduct countless experiments but give up as everything I try yields the same result. Instead, I study the brain of the dead human in my cave. However, since I didn't study the brain or read much about it during my life as a human, this proves fruitless. The only way I was able to create a Gobwolf was through the blueprints I received, and all I did was simply enlarge the brain based on those blueprints.
Maybe that's it, but I quickly realize it's not the case, as human brains seem to be the same size and more complex.
Instead, I attempt to create a Gobwolf with a human brain that I studied. However, it doesn't work, as it doesn't seem compatible, and using my mana on the human brain nearly depletes it. There's something about the human brain that causes me to use more mana on them.
