Priscilla's POV
The room fell silent after Guccie left. Max didn't say anything but instead kept feeding me without a word. I knew I needed to say something, but I wasn't sure what. I bit my lower lip, trying to think of how to start a conversation. I needed to explain myself and defend my actions.
"You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to," Max said. "I can understand if you don't trust me."
A lump formed in my throat. I had never felt so guilty in my entire life. I didn't feel good about lying to Max.
"Um... Max, I need to tell you something, even though I trust you and don't want to lie. But it's hard to explain," I said, feeling guilty. Max placed his hand on top of mine, reassuring me.
"You don't have to explain anything if you don't want to. I understand," Max said, making me feel even more guilty.
