Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Priscilla's POV…

"Mrs. Priscilla, you almost lost your baby. If you hadn't come to the hospital sooner, something bad might have happened to your baby or even you," the tall doctor in his coat said. He seemed to have confused me with one of his patients.

"Doctor, I'm not pregnant. You're mistaking me for someone else. I had a stomach ache," I explained. How could I possibly be pregnant? It just wasn't possible.

"I'm not mistaken. You are two weeks pregnant. It was due to a lot of stress that you almost had a miscarriage. In this stage of pregnancy, you shouldn't stress yourself or do any hard work," the doctor stated.

I glared at him, feeling myself losing it. "Doctor, are you deaf or are you pretending to be deaf? I'm telling you that I'm not pregnant. Which part of that don't you understand?"

"Ms. Priscilla, you are pregnant. That's what your blood results said. You might be unaware of it, but you are pregnant," the doctor insisted.

"Doctor, is it possible for a virgin to be pregnant?" I asked him coldly.

"No," he replied, looking at me with a frown.

"I'm a virgin, so how can I be pregnant? I'm telling you that you are mistaken. I'm not pregnant. If you don't know how to do your job better, discharge me right now," I said, annoyance evident in my tone.

"Nurse, please call Mr. Max inside." The doctor instructed the nurse to quickly run out of the ward.

"He is not my husband," I said. The doctor looked at me before sighing.

After a few minutes, Max entered the ward with a nurse following behind him.

"Thank God you came. Tell this useless doctor that I'm not pregnant at all… I've been trying to tell him that I'm not pregnant at all." I said as soon as Max entered the ward.

Max's POV

I felt a lump forming in my throat as the gaze of everyone in the room fixated on me. The weight of the truth bore down on my shoulders, leaving me with no other option but to come clean. The room fell silent, the air thick with anticipation.

Summoning all my courage, I cleared my throat, the sound echoing through the tense atmosphere. "Uhh... The doctor's words hold no falsehoods," I began, my voice quivering slightly. "Priscilla, you are carrying my child." The words hung in the air, causing Priscilla's eyes to widen in a mixture of shock and horror.

Her voice trembled as she struggled to maintain control over her rising anger. I could see her body quivering, her face turning a shade of crimson. "You must be joking," she managed to utter, her words laced with disbelief.

With a shaky breath, I mustered the strength to respond, my voice faltering. "I assure you, I am not joking. You are indeed pregnant," I stammered, feeling as though she was hurling daggers at me with her piercing gaze. The weight of her anger was almost unbearable.

"I'm sorry that you had to discover the truth in such a manner," I explained, my voice tinged with regret. The gravity of the situation hung heavy in the air, casting a shadow over the room.

Priscilla slowly rose from the hospital bed, her movements deliberate and purposeful. As she approached me, a sense of trepidation washed over me, causing my heart to race. Her expression remained cold and unreadable, leaving me uncertain of what was to come.

Without warning, she raised her clenched fist and delivered a forceful blow to my jaw. The impact was so intense that a sharp pain shot through my jaw, causing me to taste the metallic tang of blood at the corner of my lips. The room seemed to spin for a moment as I struggled to regain my composure, the physical pain mirroring the emotional turmoil that enveloped us both.

"How dare you? How dare you do that to me?" Priscilla asked, she started sobbing while hitting my chest… "You got me pregnant without my permission…How could you do such a thing to me… You've ruined my life." Priscilla sobbed even more… Still hitting my chest.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled.

"You're sorry will not change anything," Priscilla yelled, tears streaming down her face. She looked around the room and then her eyes darted to the entrance. Before I could react, she ran out of the room, with the doctor and nurse following us.

The doctor yelled for security, while I chased Priscilla out of the hospital. Her fury must have been beyond measure for her to behave like this. Luckily, I caught up to her before she could cross the highway. As she cried, I held her in a tight embrace.

"I'm sorry, Priscilla. I did what I had to do to save my baby. I couldn't bear the thought of Nelly killing my child and not being able to do anything. Please forgive me. I will do anything you want me to," I whispered into her ears.

But Priscilla pushed me away, tears still streaming down her face. "I want full custody of this baby. And your wife can never know about it. If you can't do that, then I will have an abortion," she said between sobs.

I was shocked. "Priscilla, you can't do that. What if you run away with my baby?"

"You should have thought about that before making me your surrogate without my permission. You have 24 hours to decide, or I will abort this child and get you arrested for what you did to me," she said with a venomous glare.

I knew I couldn't let her have full custody. "This is our baby, Priscilla. I can't let you take full custody and run away with my child."

"Don't follow me. I need some time alone, you have only 24 hours to decide that," she said, crossing the road.

I stood frozen, unable to comprehend what had just happened.

Priscilla's POV…

As I walked aimlessly along the road, tears cascaded down my face, leaving a trail of sorrow in their wake. The weight of betrayal hung heavy in my heart, for I had never anticipated such a turn of events from Max. He, of all people, subject me to this pain? It was as if he had joined the ranks of the wealthy men who were known for their selfishness and callousness. The realization struck me like a thunderbolt, and at that moment, I resolved to take action. If I couldn't secure full custody of this unborn child, I made up my mind to terminate the pregnancy and ensure that Max faced the consequences of his actions. I refused to be used and discarded once our baby entered the world. And if, by some chance, he granted me full custody, I vowed to show him the depths of his hell. Each passing day would be a relentless reminder of the bed he had made, and it was high time for him to lie in it.
