Chapter 5 - A Kid Named Crimson

A/n (Thoughts) "Speech"

100 Years After The Shattering

We begin on an average day for most but for one 15 year old boy it was his time to finally see his results. Two weeks ago he took the pokemon profession aptitude test to see what pokemon profession suited him. For most this test result decided the rest of their lives in this harsh world.

Crimson started intently at the computer screen refreshing the page every minute. Finally the result showed first was the civilian study course which he scored a 438 out of 550. Next came the Six Trainer professions first was pokemon breeder with a score of 120 out of 200 just a little above average. Second was Adventurer with a score of 102 out of 200 it was painfully average. Third is Poke Chef with an astonishing score of 189 out of 200. Fourth to follow is pokemon alchemist with a very good score of 155 out of 200. Fifth was a pokemon ranger with an abysmal score of 65 out of 200. Finally last but not least is a pokemon researcher with an under average score of 92 out of 200.

Crimson regarded the test results with morbid fascination have studied mainly for the pokemon breeder and alchemist branches. He stared at 189 on poke chef results having not even tried at all on that part of the test. This test result completely changing his fate as an orphan. You see the result of 150 allows orphans to gain a scholarship to a decent pokemon school and their first pokemon. This 189 allowed crimson to apply directly for an apprenticeship with any poke chef under the elite level and maybe even draw the eye of an adept chef.

Adepts were the backbone of society. Most people in society having stopped at the advanced level but adepts were different they carried out most of the dangerous missions outside the walled cities. To have an adept as a teacher was to start out above the rest of society. If u somehow caught the attention of an elite you would never worry again. Even the biggest families would hesitate in the face of a elite after if adepts are the backbone then elites are the guardians of society. At the front of every pokemon riot or legendary rampages and weird outbreaks. They are afforded rights normal citizens can't even dream of.

Crimson's first thought is he must do more research to find any adept chef looking for an apprentice. Quickly heading to the pokeboard he searches the poke chef forums for any information he can find. Most information he finds is new recipes for certain types of pokemon. Finding a section of the forum for recruitment he finds mostly advanced and intermediate chefs asking to form groups to go into the wild to scavenge for ingredients. Then like a shining beacon the shiny blue checkmark of an adept chef post about recruiting an apprentice.

Clicking on the post the first thing crimson sees is that this adept is a rock and ground type specialist. The picture of a big rhydon and golem really stands out but after the picture the next thing that stands out is the requirements. 185 or higher in the chef section of the PPAT followed by either a 140 in alchemy or 140 in breeding. Crimson quickly sent his fresh results of the test through the link left on the post. "Guess there's nothing left to do but wait now".

A/n Like I said it is my first novel but constructive criticism is welcome here I'm really making an effort. I'm going to try and do at least a chapter a day.
