She kept staring at me while I ate the plate of carbonara and onion rings that she prepared. Sighing from time to time. I can feel she wanted to start a conversation, but she kept her mouth shut.
Our situation was getting complicated. Hearing from Luca about the chaotic situation within the pack caused by my mate, I realized that it was a matter of time Father would discover I was her mate. I really do not know how father will accept this. Will avenging his wife's death is more important than me his son? I need to investigate it myself. I need to look back to what happened 8 years ago.
The moment I finished, I looked into her eyes. She was seated across the counter with both hands clasped on a glass of water.
"Why do you linger here? I told you I am not your mate. I am not a Katana wolf; I would have known. I should have known it if I was. I don't have any ability your kind has" I said to her. Denying everything she had claimed.
"You can keep denying it to yourself, but I can't easily be swayed. Plus, I gave you the options I am still waiting for your answer." she answered with a smile.
She walked around the counter then grabbed my wrist. Is she Checking my pulse? Her closeness made my wolf Drew purr. This closeness made me feel uneasy.
"You're a Katana wolf, I just know it. As to your abilities... it has been bottled up inside you. That might be Alana's doing. She has her reason, that is a mystery to me. How will you harness those abilities, I really do not know". She said while staring directly at my eyes.
I really wanted to touch her face and kiss her, but I stood then stepped back. I saw the hurt in her eyes, but she quickly hid it with a smile.
"I'm amused how your pack has been so stressed of my presence at your border. I only gave back the BMW. If I wanted to attack, it should have been 8 years ago." she nonchalantly commented.
"Why haven't you?" I asked her while she walked towards the living room and sat down on the couch. I followed her.
"Ayumi, why haven't you?" I asked her again. She looked and me then smiled.
"Tell me, why is your pack so persistent on killing me, I didn't make a move against you all these years. I am the one who lost a family and a pack but you we're the one whose going rampage." she asked.
I just shrug my shoulder.
"Asked my father. Been busy searching for you. No!" I corrected "I mean my mate." She smirked hearing my statement, but I opted not to react.
"I love to confront your father, but I might end up killing him. You see, still angry here with all the mess he had done with my pack. He took everything and not done after all the things he did."
"Then why didn't you kill him if you are that angry." I asked her. She placed her hand above her head, leaned back then lay down her legs on the coffee table in front of her.
"Killing your dad wasn't my priority, thus I don't want to lose my mother's protective cocoon which she wields before dying." she answered calmly. Placing hand to her side then looking at her body as if she is wearing a suit. "It is the remnants of my mother's power, having it made me feel still connected to her you know." she added. I squinted my eyes in disbelief.
"So, you're telling me you were not planning to attack my pack?" I quickly asked.
"Yup!!!! You give yourself too much credit. As dreadful as my situation was, I still believed in Karma. You will get what you deserve. I was busy traveling around the world to find every Katana wolf. Some of us have gone rogue you know. I am trying to revive my pack. It was my father's dying wish" she answered with her beaming smile.
"How about the curse? I then asked. She laughed so hard; she almost fell from the couch. She calmed down then she tried talking.
"Oh, my Goddess, I really don't know what you people think about us, but we are not a cult of werewolves. We do not perform any voodoo shit. Most of our powers are for defending ourselves." she gleefully uttered. I stiffened; everything doesn't add up. I was busy thinking about my pack and the belief we had. I heard her clear her throat.
"So, where have you been these 8 years? I have not seen you since today." she asked, changing the topic.
"My mother hyped me up with the mate bond, I ended up obsessing about finding my mate and all" I underwent training to be an efficient Alpha but whenever I had time I started searching again. I have placed the search on hold since my father had been bothering me with you the Katana wolf. I had no idea how messed up your situation was. The death of my mother made me long more to find my mate. I do not want to feel alone. My father is too consumed with his anger, and it is destroying him" I answered truthfully.
"It is not anger nor hatred. It was greed." she commented. Her face turned serious.
"I do not even understand that. How does my mother's death a result of greed. She was his mate." I answered.
Silence.
I sighed... "Anyways I got to go somewhere, you can stay here if you want, my father never set foot in this place. You're safe here." I said, which made her smirk.
"Yeah, your mother did well put-up protective barriers here. Only a Katana wolf can enter." I was surprised with the answer I got from her.
Bewildered about the information that I heard from her; I walked back to my room upstairs. I started gathering things that I presumed I needed. I brushed my teeth then walked downstairs. I looked around for her, but she was nowhere. I do not have time for these. I need to check on something myself. I decided to leave her here, where I thought was safe. I went to the car that was parked outside.
Surprisingly, she was already seated in the passenger seat. I glared at her. Stared at her with a questioning look.
"What? She widened her eyes. "You are going to locate my mate! I might as well tag along." She spoke.
