Chapter 3 - CHAPTER THREE( RED NATION'S DAY )

Preparation were already going on everywhere around the nation, preparations towards the Red Nation's Day celebration. I was helping grandma in decorating the front of our house, we decorated it with the national colours red and white. Ribbons of red and white colours were already shining everywhere in the streets, it's now remaining two days to the great occasion and everyone was planning towards it. They will be dancing, singing, and other performances, in the Commoners Arena. Many persons, club, and social groups will participate in the arena, but only the best three were allowed to perform that day, in front of the visitors and spectators in the Great City. I don't like the idea of making the Commoners, compete among themselves, but it makes the Commoners happy and hopeful, maybe because it is the only time they feel among the nation. In the streets you could see everyone practicing what they will perform. I had made up my mind, never to participate in  this activities as it makes me pessimistic, after all they will never treat us as equal. Judges from the Great City will come to the Commoners Arena to judge the performances of the participants, it's also one of the few times that we get visitors from the Great City.

That evening one by one people that were selected to perform were allowed to perform, and the judges will take notes of their performance. Finally the best three were called, and they were given free pass into the Great City as performances on the nation's day whether they be a person or a group, they were much applause and shouting from the other Commoners. That night at home grandma asked me why I haven't been  participating in the competition, I told her how much I dislike the Idea of making the Commoners compete among themselves, why can't they just open the gates for us to come in just for one day I asked. Grandma just looked at me and smiled, can you come and help me out here she said, as she tries to bring down what she had been cooking, ok Ma I replied as I stood up to go and help her.

It was the D-DAY the 20th of October 4043. The gates of the Great City was opened for visitors, dignitaries, head's of nations, princes and princesses, all great personalities all over the world. It was strictly on invitation, you either have a pass card or an Invitation card, security checks were mounted everywhere around the nation. This securities included the Mobile-Polices, City Watchers, The Defenders, and The Chromes. The Chromes, are the most fearful security group, it's believe that the Chromes have eyes everywhere and could see what others can see. They were all in their security outfit, and we're carrying their cyber guns. The Air-Marshals were also controlling the aerocycles, and autoplanes that were landing in the Great City. While the Road-Marshals were also controlling the Roads, making sure they was a free flow of autocycle and automotos, into the City. Outside the City walls, the whole place was crawling with people, both those that were making their way into the City, and those who had come to watch the invents from the big screens on the Great City walls. Most of the people were dressed on our national colours Red and White, the whole place was filled with red and white colours. Inside the City the Invited guest were busy taking their sits in the auditorium, while outside the City many people were looking for a spot to stand and watch the invents. Me and my grandma came very early and had secure a great spot to watch from. We were waiting for the speech by the leader of the High Council, the highest authority in the land. The Trumpet were blown, and they was an announcement "behold the High Chancellor" everyone both inside and outside stood up in respect to his to arrival. And they he was, he looked more human than a Trybot, he could be mistaken to be a commoner if not for his regalia. After the Nation's Anthem and the High Chancellor's speech, the event began in full. The names of the Special Guests and Nation's Leaders were called and acknowledged. Then the performances began, they was so many performances by so many entertainers both within and outside the country. The selected commoners were not left out, they also performed for the crowd. After the performances gifts were presented to the best performer of the day. Then the climax of the occasion was the presentations of gifts to the High Chancellor, by  the Dignitaries, Royalties, Leaders and even the Commoners. Grandma had mad it a tradition to always give the High Chancellor a banquet of colourful flowers, she will never forget to put a flower known as Cartalya, she always say a banquet is never complete without a Cartalya. Gifts from the Commoners were collected by Spectrus, these are task collectors, they collect levys, tasks, and other obligations from the Commoners. To close the events marking the Nation's Day, the High Chancellor gives a farewell speech and then gives a vote of thanks.

The whole place was now jam parked, as both aerocycles, autoplanes, autocycles, automotos and other people on foot were making their way out of the great city. We were walking back home from the events when we heard a man shouting help me!!! A Chrome was beating a man who was bleeding all over his face. What did he do asked grandma to one of the men standing close to her, he stepped on the Chromes leg he replied, I was very angry that this man was being beaten for doing nothing. I looked steadily at the Chrome beating the man and suddenly, just as he raised his leg to hit the man lying on the ground, he flew three feet into the air and landed with his back to the ground. He began to shout my back!!! Some Chromes ran and carried him away, while some Commoners helped the man up. Nobody knew what really happened except for grandma who turned and looked at me Immediately it happened. She waited until we reached home then she said I knew you did that to the Chrome, how do you do it, I don't know I replied, she became very quiet as though she was thinking something, then she finally said be careful my daughter I will I replied.

That night was one of the longest night in our life, we sat down outside all night watching the firecrackers and colour canons, as they light up the skies. Shooting of firecrackers and colour canons on Red Nation's Day has always been a tradition, and we always sit outside to watch these amazing scenes. It's going to be a long night said grandma, inside the City the party was just starting.
