We rode in pure silence till we arrived at the gate of the huge multi billion dollar company, the Uber driver who I later got to know that his name was Randy exclaimed when he saw the huge building. "Yowheeeee, this be the first time I ever come this close to this hefty contraption,tell me something dear, what business do you have in the ole Boone Enterprises" "Well hopefully I'm here for my internship" "Well aren't you the lucky one, to get to work in a huge place as this....." "Well it's just an internship" "Still, I wish you luck dear, you're gonna be someone great someday" "thank you,I really appreciate, it really means a lot to me" "Na shucks, you know what, just give me twenty bucks,I usually charge fifty, but seeing that you're new in town" "thank you sir", I paid him the money and came down from the Uber.
I showed the security guard my ID card that I printed back in Boston,in regards to my internship with the company. He made a few calls, before he allowed me to proceed further inside. After I got acquainted with the receptionist, the receptionist was a young dark lady of about 35 or so, she asked me to wait for a little while, while she phoned the ceo. I have no problem with that because reception area was so spacious and luxuriously designed with the best appliances, state-of-the-art furniture and did I mention that they were free cookies, my God I love cookies especially chocolate chip cookies,as I still lost in my fantasy of cookies the receptionist gestured for me to follow a young man who just appeared. "He will take you to the ceo's personal assistant to get you acquainted with him ,I wish you good luck" she said and shook my hand, and gave me sweet smile. I felt confident and returned her smile before I followed the Young brunette to the already waiting elevator.
Ding!, the elevator stopped on the eighth and last floor, the Young brunette led me past lots of beautifully designed offices, which comprises of, the board room, the storage unit, the conference hall and finally, the CEO'S office. Knock! Knock! Knock!, the brunette knocked on the door before a voice told him to come inside. "Mr pètè, what brings you here" the man sitting on one of the six arm chairs asked. "Well sir,I was asked to bring this lady up here, she is here for an internship" the man wearing a white shirt,grey trousers and grey slacks looked at me from head to toe. "And you are" he asked "I'm miss April vandan sir" I said, feeling intimidated by his dominating appearance "yes okay, well the ceo is not in right now, but let me take a look at your Resumè. You can go Mr pètè" "thank you sir" the brunette turned around and left "I'm sorry sir, but you said that the CEO is not in?" "yes he has some things to attend to, , I'm his secretary". He took a look at my Resumè and kept on nodding. I used that opportunity to survey my surroundings, the office was huge, with a small round center table that seemed to be imported from china, around it laid six black soft armchairs in groups of two,by the far end of the wall laid a coffee machine,a water dispenser,six mugs, and a tray comprising of sugar, milk and a plate of freshly baked cookies. On the wall opposite where I was standing hung different pictures, the president, the vice president,a couple of photos of past CEO'S, stuff you would find in a typical office. Directly opposite me,stood a large mahogany brown table, on the table was a laptop,a calendar,a telephone,a note pad,a pen and a coffee cup. After the table was a black swivel chair and behind the swivel was a beautiful well carved door, which read CEO's office,it was then that it hit me, this was actually the secretary's office, the CEO'S office laid beyond that black door. "Well Miss vandan,I like your resumè,Mr Boone had earlier informed me about you,he told me to assign you to the IT department, you will be working hand in hand with some of the greatest scientist in the whole of country v, congratulations" "thank you sir" I said. He quickly made a few calls and three minutes later, a young lady led me to the IT department.
