Chapter 8 - Gone Forever?

The sound of the running chainsaw filled the room, the dangerous tool was pointed straight at Wilkerson, who was unbothered, approached Olivia as if she wasn't there.

Only when she rose the chainsaw, did he react and pushed against the running chain with the back of the kitchen knife, doing so with only one hand, sparks flew around the room, hitting him straight in the face.

With a sudden jerk, he moved the knife near the end of the chain, right in the spot where a chainsaw wasn't supposed to touch anything hard.

The chainsaw was seemingly pushed back with great strength as a kickback occurred, the chainsaw hit Olivia straight in the middle of her face but the chain brake was functioning properly, stopping the chain from spinning before it struck her.

A hard hit, but hardly as bad as could have been expected, Than tilted his head, the chainsaw falling to the side as Olivia let go of it while herself falling back.

He looked at the chainsaw, it was surprising that this old thing's chain brake was working as intended, The Slasher had perhaps hoped for a more spectacular kickback.

During the short duel, the front door had been opened and the little boy had vanished, there was an unnatural amount of light outside too, the sound of a running engine could be heard as well.

This time however, Than didn't focus on the newcomer and instead looked down upon Olivia, raising his knife but dropping it moments later as bullet hit his wrist.

"Hey asshole, I'm over there!" Arthur grinned like a madman, Than turned to face him, in this room, only lit by fallen flashlights and candles, Hagger couldn't make out Wilkerson's eyes.

But he knew exactly what they looked like, unfeeling eyes, much like those of a dead fish, no emotions, no animosity, simply an absence of being.

All that stood out about them was their unusual color, this impossible coloration, this deep purple.

Arthur looked around the place, no dead bodies in sight, Than hadn't been able to grow his body count any further.

'And you never will' Arthur pointed his assault at The Slasher, pulling the trigger, filling his chest with holes, most of the bullets going all the way through his body.

The white trench coat, turning completely red, some bullets even going through his neck, when Arthur was out of ammo, Wilkerson was still standing, having barely moved back at all from the barrage of bullets.

Still, Arthur could be certain to have obliterated pretty much every single organ of his body, including the heart and lungs, particularly them even, his spine should also be in rough shape, even if Than was the monster Hagger thought him to be, he should be diminished in some way.

"Fucking hell" that was all Arthur had to say as he saw what should be a dead man speed walking toward him, shrugging off the hail of bullets as if it was nothing.

Hagger just threw the rifle itself at Than, hoping to get enough time to pull out one of the other two guns he had brought with him, it didn't amount to anything, Wilkerson grabbed him and threw him all the way to the second floor.

Hitting the wall with tremendous force, he felt the air being pushed out of his lungs, before he could even manage to breath in again, his whole body was lifted up and repeatedly slammed against the wall.

This time, with his face being so closed to Than's, he was able to see his lifeless eyes for himself, lifeless wasn't the right term, he was still utterly full of life, his gaze was simply hollow.

Struggling against the beating he was receiving, he reached for the gun to his right, not believing to be capable of handling the other in the state he was, he pushed the barrel against the temple of Than and pulled the trigger, making him let go and stumble back but still refusing to go down.

Hagger stood up, his head bloodied from the relentless pounding it received but his sight had hardly ever been clearer than now.

He shot Wilkerson in each of his knees, hardly making him bent them at all and unloaded the rest of his magazine to little effect, no matter where or how many times he shot him, Than seemed to be barely tickled, not making even the slighest of grunts.

He was just taking everything head on.

A second weapon emptied, Arthur dropped it to the ground and switched the last one he had, he was fairly certain that he would break something trying to shoot this thing and doubted the recoil was something he knew how to handle but the sheer power was something that should be able to move even the stalwart Slasher.

The first shot, the gun almost came right back in his face and he was off with his aim, hitting Wilkerson in the shoulder instead of the chest.

The second shot, he could have sworn he broke something, it was truly a shame that despite being so young, his body felt so old at the moment.

Shooting again and again, The Slasher Of Olive Grove was pushed into a room, his back against a glass door leading to a balcony with a terrible view as it was directly placed above the driveway.

The white trench coat was nowhere to be seen now, having turned dark from all the blood, its wearer was still standing tall however, even after being shot at with a desert eagle, Arthur hardly believed that simply shooting him more would do any good but for now, he had nothing else to offer.

The last bullet went right through his two eyes, blasting part of his skull and brain straight to hell, pushing him through the glass door and off the balcony.

Falling on the hard bitumen, shard of glass impaling through his body as his body weight led to an especially hard fall.

As if right in cue, Arthur heard some sirens in the distance, this level of injury would have easily left the Than of five years ago unconscious for a good while but the monster had alreadu straightened his back and on the way to standing on his two legs.

With holes in every single part of his body, he looked up at Hagger and then decided to simply walk away, ignoring Arthur calling for him to stop and come back here.

As he felt his injuries catching up to him, the policeman could see The Slasher walking in the middle of the road, walking straight at an incoming police car.

Despite this house being full of easy preys, people he had taken time with, Wilkerson chose to ignore all of this and headed toward harder targets.

Arthur lost consciousness and the next time he came to, Than Wilkerson, The Slasher Of Olive Grove, was gone, having left the little town.

Arthur knew that he was still alive and well, echoes of other of his massacres spreading throughout the country at random intervals.

Hagger had managed to expel him out of Olive Grove but ultimately failed to stop him.

He would spend years trying to cross path again with him, prepared to burn him to a crisp, dismember his body, grind him to dust.

His chase wouldn't bear any fruits however, he would never be able to even attempt to eliminate Than Wilkerson again.
