As Wilkerson worked his way through various habitations, taking odd routes and moving around with cars he stole, many peopled started calling in about the murderer stalking in the dead of night, the surge of intel wasn't any good news.
For all intents and purposes, it seemed as though Than was in multiple places at once, even if the authorities were able to cover all ground, they would be put in situations were no backup could arrive in time.
But even when it had been the case, it hadn't stopped The Slasher from striking against them as had been discovered not too long ago, no preventive measures were foolproof.
Than had already killed much more than last time and it was only what had been confirmed, the pressure bearing on the officier of this little town were nothing ever happened was growing heavier and heavier by the second, those having already born witness to him especially so.
They knew that even if present, they would have little chance of actually managing to halt his massacre.

Olivia was one of the people that called for the police but her call of distress was drowned amongst others, eventually, she arrived in front of Ava's house, where she was watching over her cousin.
She tried banging on the door but her earlier sprint had taken too much of her energy for any strong maneuver, resulting in her just lightly knocking.
She leaned against the door and pretty much fell in once Ava opened it.
Coming upon a heavily breathing and crying Olivia, who sounded much like Mark earlier this day.
She tried to understand what she was saying as he helped stand up on her two feet and then closed the door behind her as the cold rushed in.
"What's happening here?" Lily walked in, already being there as she had offered to help Ava watch over her cousin, who was still terrified and thinking that the man he had seen would come to silence him.
"The guy with a mask! I think... I think he killed John!" she managed to say.
The other two girls didn't know what to say to this, but they didn't have to as all the lights in the house suddenly turned off, making the three of them gasp at the horrifying timing.
Ava tried switching it back on but the power simply wasn't there.

"Hagger" a voice came over the radio of Arthur's vehicle.
"I hear you" he responded briefly, urging the sheriff to speak.
"There is a total blackout, head over to the power station, be careful and wait for some backup before going in" the communication was over, if the power station remained unworking for an extended period, the police radio would eventually be affected too, once the backup energy source would be depleted.
The fact that he was being sent there meant that no workers at the power plant responded, Wilkerson was most likely there, Hagger sped toward the power plant and ignoring the words of the sheriff, he stepped out of his car and got an assault rifle from the trunk, bought specifically to be use against Than.
With the light attached to it, he moved through the darkness of the power station, quickly coming upon one of the employees, his body still sizzling after being thrown against one of the generators, all of the generators had been ruined, there was no hope of them starting again.
Turning every corner with the certainty that The Slasher would leap out at him.
'Where are you?' he thought, Than couldn't have gotten so far.
Shining his light on the corpse of another employee, who appeared to have been stabbed once through the throat, the blood was still forming into a puddle around him.
Arthur was certain of it, Wilkerson was right around here but despite searching everywhere he could see and reach, the officier did not find him.
"Where are you Than?! Show yourself, don't you want to greet an old friend? Huh?" he yelled out but as expected, no amount of provocation could make the unfeeling man react.
Arthur turned to face the direction he had come from, perhaps Than had simply went past him and gone away or had left before he even got there.
Just as he thought of that possibility, something dropped to the ground right behind his back, without wasting any time, Hagger threw himself to the ground while turning around, narrowly avoiding getting a knife stuck in his nape.
The light revealed the towering figure of Than, the kitchen knife he was holding bloody and so was his white trench coat, covering in drops of blood.
Without wasting any second, Arthur tried to unload his magazine at The Slasher but the rifle was kicked out of his hand before he managed to do so, only managing to hit him once in the chest, right where his heart should have been but as expected, he was unfazed and moved forward, preparing to stomp onto Arthur's chest.
Hagger rolled away before jumping to his feet, Than already moving toward him.
Taking his pistol out, he aimed for the head, hitting him in the cheek area before receiving a punch to the face, the hit strong enough to turn him around and throw him to the ground.
Arthur was helpless but rather than feeling the blade of a knife sinking through his back, he heard shouts and shots being fired through the haze clouding his mind.
When the shots stopped, the shouts turned to screams and gurglings, Arthur forced himself to stand back up, only able to see the aftermath, two officiers lying on the ground and Than nowhere to be seen, Arthur had heard three voices, Wilkerson must have went after the third one.
Picking up his rifle, he ran back, only to see one of the police cars speeding off into the distance and the corpse of another of his colleagues, his head twisted the wrong way.
Arthur didn't waste any time and drove after him, hoping to not lose sight of him.
