Chapter 1 - The Class

It was a windy day in North Carolina the military base was busy about to send more troops out. Alice was heading to class when she met up with her friend. "Did you hear we get to be pen pals with some hottie in the military?" Stephanie said. Alice sighed. "I know; I just hope I get someone to hold a conversation," Alice said. They walk into class. The teacher was talking about the Letters, and she was passing out the folders. Stephanie rushed over. "Look how sexy," she said, holding up the picture of her pen pal. "Let's see yours," she said. Alice opened her folder and signed, "Why does he look so mean and angry" she said and put her head on the desk. "He is cute in his meaningful way," Stephanie said. Stephanie started her letter happily and dug into her bag, and put a picture of her in it. She put it in the box. Alice finished hers and dropped it off, and they all got mailed off. Alro was running around the base. It was hot in Baghdad. "Fucking bullshit," he mumbles. "Maddox, you have a letter," James yelled. Alro walks over and takes it. He sat down and opened the letter. He picks up the picture. He only saw a beautiful young woman with a soft smile and green eyes, sandy blond hair, and a small birthmark above her left eye. "Dead Arlo, I hope this letter finds you in good health. I do appreciate what you are doing for us. Please stay safe. Oh, this is random, but if there is a change, you send a picture of a sunset if you can, no rush, love Alice" He tucks the letter into his vest pocket and sighs. He picks up the camera. He sat alone and started to write. Once the sun was setting, he got in a good spot and aimed his camera, and took a picture. He waited and mailed off the letter.
