Yuki's return to Konoha is indeed a cause for celebration. Renowned as the most powerful Shinigami and the most effective ninja teacher in Konoha, Yuki's reputation is unmatched. He is considered the most perfect ninja in the history of Konoha, admired by all who have worked with him within the Konoha Shinobi community.
On the Konoha Memorial Stone, Sarutobi Shinnosuke's epitaph reads: "The eldest son of the Third Hokage, who carries on the will of fire and nurtures heroes, an outstanding Jōnin mentor!" History has already cemented his legacy.
After the initial excitement settled, Konoha quickly returned to its usual calm. To everyone, Yuki was seen as a retired figure, though still shining brightly in the educational field. However, compared to frontline ninjas, his prestige seemed somewhat lesser.
The Fourth Hokage had originally planned to bring Yuki back to the academy to take over as principal. It was an interesting proposition, but Yuki, having acted on a whim in the past and finding no valuable experimental subjects among the new generation of students, lost interest in teaching and mentoring. He declined the Fourth Hokage's offer, citing exhaustion from his years in the Rain Shinobi Village and a desire to rest.
Although the Fourth Hokage was disappointed, he respected Yuki's decision and promised that should Yuki wish to return to work, he would be entrusted with important tasks. The Fourth Hokage believed in him.
Returning to the Uchiha clan's home after a long absence, Yuki was struck by the sight of the domineering Uchiha mansions. He sensed an air of arrogance—arrogance that seemed to be woven into the very fabric of the Uchiha clan members' demeanor.
"What a bunch of foolish people!" Yuki thought to himself with a smirk.
"Brother~ Welcome home!" Shisui greeted him with enthusiasm.
"Senior Yuki," Itachi offered a respectful greeting.
"Yes, it's been a long time since I've been back, and there have been many changes in the clan," Yuki responded with a smile.
"Ah, the changes are quite significant," Shisui admitted, scratching his head with a somewhat forced smile, clearly aware of the situation but reluctant to criticize his fellow clansmen as a member of the Uchiha clan.
Itachi, perhaps due to his youth and vigor, did not hesitate to express his concerns.
"Some people in the clan are becoming increasingly excessive recently," Itachi said, frowning.
As the captain of the Anbu squad directly under the Hokage, responsible for internal monitoring, Itachi was acutely aware of the Uchiha clan's growing sense of entitlement. Fugaku, acting as the Hokage's proxy, had governed Konoha for six years, a tenure almost equal to that of the Fourth Hokage. Moreover, with the Uchiha clan controlling key institutions like Anbu and the police force, they had developed a strong sense of superiority, considering themselves the true leaders of Konoha. Some radical elders even suggested officially making Fugaku the Hokage, removing the 'acting' title.
Fugaku, however, firmly rejected these proposals. He believed the Uchiha clan's power and status came from the trust of the Fourth Hokage and that one should be content with what they have. Personally, Fugaku regarded Namikaze Minato as a close confidant. The Fourth Hokage had shown great trust in him, appointing him as his proxy before departing on an expedition, which deeply bound Fugaku's loyalty. Betraying this trust to seize the position of Hokage from his friend would be unthinkable to Fugaku, who has repeatedly made it clear that he would never seek the title of Hokage in his lifetime, in an attempt to curb the clan's ambitions. However, these efforts had limited impact, as Fugaku, being the patriarch, could not take severe actions against his clan members. Mild reprimands and lenient punishments only served to further inflame the clan's arrogance, with a mysterious masked man stirring the pot from the shadows.
"Is that so?" Yuki listened quietly to Itachi's explanation, sensing that someone was indeed manipulating the Uchiha clan's unrest but choosing to remain detached. "After all, the Uchiha clan is inherently rebellious. Without rebellion, would they still be Uchiha?" he mused, amused by the unfolding situation.
"Hey~ Why can't the short-sighted members of our clan understand father's, Shisui's, and the seniors' intentions?" Itachi lamented, frustrated by the clan's recent behavior. Seeing Yuki, whom he had always looked up to, Itachi sought reassurance.
"Don't worry, Itachi. One day, everyone will understand our intentions and the will of our brother," Shisui reassured him optimistically. Despite his own concerns about the family's direction, Shisui felt a sense of relief with Yuki's return, believing that with his presence, any problem could be resolved.
"My will," Yuki began, adjusting his reflective glasses, "My naive brother, when did you start to believe that I share the same will as yours?"
