Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

Henry's POV

I just have a weird feeling about today. I don't know why, but I don't feel so good about it.

I had my bath and went to the kitchen to fix breakfast. Mom and dad had gone back to wherever hole they crawled out of very early this morning. As usual, they made me see them off to the airport even though I'm sure neither of them would miss me.

It's Blair's birthday today, and I'm hoping to take her to the movies. I hope she doesn't turn me down. I really need to talk to her. My life is a jumbled mess, and the only time I feel sane is around her.

Yeah, tell me I'm whipped.

If I can get Blair to come with me, it's gonna make my life much easier. I get the tickets ready and climb into my car.

I see Blair walking towards the school doors and approached her. I hope this goes well. I hope it doesn't end up like some cliche Wattpad novel where the girl ends up rejecting the guy.

'I'll just wish her and give her the tickets. It can't be that bad right?'

It can end up pretty bad

'Come on, let's be positive. I need some encouragement'

The only encouraging thing about this is that you get to stand close to your sweetheart for about a minute.

'Yeah, that's pretty encouraging'

You feel comfortable thinking of her as yours, now don't you?

'PERVERT!'

It's all in your head

'And you think I didn't know that'

'Then you're the pervert here'

'I hate you!!'

'You're stuck with me'

I count the time in my head as I head over to Blair. She wore a hoodie over her uniform and I started getting suspicious. It's not cold today. And she is one to stick to the uniform code to the extent that one would think she doesn't own a hoodie.

Thirty seconds, a few spiteful words, and one heart pain later, the conversation was over.

She walked out on me. I could have sworn that she really wanted to go with me. But something is holding her back. I'm gonna have to find out what.

I gather the rest of my dignity that hasn't been smothered by Blair and head for the school halls. Blair and I have physics together. I grab my books from my locker and greet a bunch of girls while I was at it. I take the corner leading to my class and see Arian making out with Patrick. No surprise here.

I'm sure they are going to end up as friends with benefits. I sometimes wonder how Arian and my girl... I mean Blair are besties.

I enter the class and see Blair sitting in the middle. I take a seat next to her and hope she lets me talk to her civilly.

Sixty seconds and one really painful question after, I'm storming off with tears brimming in my eyes. I hope she doesn't see it. I don't want her pity. I want her attention.

I reach the boys' bathroom and storm in slamming the door behind me. I take a few moments to calm down and decided to skip school today.

Walking towards my car, I noticed a girl standing by my car.

"Hey. What do you need?" I ask the girl.

"Funny, I was just about to ask you the same," she bit her lips and toyed with her hair. I really want to throw up now.

"I need you to..." She trails off and looks behind me. Before I could bat an eyelash, her lips were on mine.

To say I was shocked would be an understatement.

Blair's POV

I really feel bad watching Henry walk out.

Or was I imagining the tears in his eyes?

After battling with myself, I end up deciding to go after him, though I have no idea what I'm gonna say to him yet.

I check the gym, and the hallways but I couldn't find him.

I decide to look outside. Pushing open the double doors, I see what my eyes are too innocent for.

My chest constricts, and I feel a rush of feelings that I couldn't even pinpoint.

There he is, swapping spit with a bimbo, while my conscience was eating me up inside.

I thought he was a player before though I had my doubt. Now, I'm sure he's a player. He doesn't care as much as I thought he does.

No one cares.

I turn around and head back to class. It's gonna a be a long day.

Henry's POV

Before I could bat an eyelash, her lips were on mine.

To say I was shocked would be an understatement. It took me a couple of seconds to recover and shove her off me.

I turn around only to find a pained expression on Blair's face. She turns around, barely even noticing that I was already moving toward her. She walked really quickly towards the classroom and I had to run to catch up with her.

"Blair, please wait!" I get no response from her. She didn't look like she was going to stop anytime soon. So I grabbed her by the hand and made her face me.

"Let me go," her voice was calm. Just too calm. I wish she would just scream at me and hit me till she feels better.

"Please, just listen to me,"

"Class is ongoing. I need to get back,"

" Then why did you come out in the first place?"

" I came to call you back to class. Today is pop quiz Monday, remember?"

I have to admit, it hurt that she wasn't telling me her mind. I know she was hurt. And she isn't even leaving room for me to apologize.

"Okay, thanks," I try raising my free hand to my face and she flinches.

"What's wrong?", I asked, alarmed.

" Nothing," her voice turns void again.

" Can you stop!?" I'm getting really tired of this. Her body says one thing and her voice says another.

"Stop what?" Now she sounds exhausted.

"This."

" One minute you are acting pained, the next your emotionless. If someone is hurting you, just tell me,"

" And what would you do, huh? Tell me. You're among those hurting me,"

" So you're being hurt by someone, then,"

" None of your business!"

She yanks her hand out of my hold and starts walking away. I grab her again, only this time, I hold her against my chest and wrap my hands around her back.

I took at her face, expecting a reaction, but what I see broke me.

She was wincing and looked really scared.

" Blair?" I needed her to talk to me. I thought I wasn't going to get much of a reaction before I saw a tear escape her eyes. Then I become really scared. Someone is hurting her. Really bad.

"Please talk to me," I beg.

"Let me go," she croaks out

I loosen my hold on her back and she pulled herself away from me. I want to hold her and make her talk to me, but she runs toward the girls' bathroom.

No way I'm giving up so easily. I follow her and wait outside. After about two minutes of waiting, I grow impatient and crack the doors open a little.

There she was, standing in front of the mirror with her sweaters off. Now I see why she wore one today. There's injury all over her hands and I'm sure there's more on the other parts of her.

Not being able to walk away, especially after seeing the condition she's in, I walk in. She turns around and I see tears streaming out of her eyes.

"What are you..." She trails off as I stop right in front of her.

"I'm sorry," I say.

" You should be. But know you are not to blame for this in any way," her voice was blank. Very blank.

"Tell me who cause this,"

She attempts to put on her hoodie. I try to stop her and she flinches.

"I'm not going to hurt you. Let's go to the nurse"

"No. No nurse"

" Fine. No nurse. Let me help you,"

" It's nothing. I'm fine,"

" Well, you don't look fine to me"

" You shouldn't even be here,"

" Well, I am,"

" You can't tell anyone about this. Promise me,"

" Does Arian know?"

" She doesn't. No one knows,"

" Not even your parents?" She stiffens and I know I struck a nerve.

"No they don't," she puts her hoodie back on and leaves the bathroom leaving no room for me to apologize.

Signing, I head back to class. It's now second period and Blair and I have different classes.

The bell goes for lunch and everyone floods into the halls. I wait at the library entrance for Blair when I notice her coming towards me with Maison.

Edward app

ears from the library and stands beside me.

"This can't be good," he mutters. He's the only one that knows about my messed up life and my feelings for Blair.

"No, no it can't,"
