Chapter 50 - Chapter Fifty Andor Lost in His Own Thoughts

Andor's point of view –

Sadly, I headed back to my office, with tons of approvals and denials to send via email to different wolf packs. The work never seems to truly end. One set of emails is responded to and filed into electronic folders as well as a printed hard copy and filed away. Just ten minutes later, the mailbox fills up again.

According to one pack, I should fund the establishment of a petting zoo. Let's be honest here, this isn't a matter of royalty here. This Alpha is not an infant pup, Alpha. He is a seasoned Alpha and knows better. It is purely a matter of him trying to get some free money from us. As each pack owns and operates its own business, all the packs are self-sufficient through the income that they generate from their businesses. If they need help with the repair of their public roads, we are able to help them. We can help them in the event that they need more warriors to protect their pack as a result of an external war that is affecting them.

Not forgetting the approvals and denials for wolves wanting to transfer packs. In addition, some lone wolves who want to rent a room in a pack hotel need permission. It is common for people to transfer out of packs because they have found their mates in this pack or another pack. These types of transfer requests usually influx after a singles weekend. Two times a year, the royal pack hosts a singles weekend for all packs, in hopes of helping any single wolves who may not belong to the same pack to find their mate.

In addition, there are going to be emails that are complaints, and emails that ask if that pack has the right to declare war on another pack in the following lines. It is never my practice to decline or approve an email request of such seriousness. It is my responsibility to send emissaries to survey the situation and report back to me on their findings. By doing this, I am able to decide what is really needed and then call the Alphas in for a meeting with me in one of my many conference rooms so we can sort out what is needed.

Every pack Alpha has been assigned their own set of duties and responsibilities, and they are responsible for fulfilling those duties and responsibilities. It is important to recognize that not all Alphas get along. Let's face it, we are not all humans, and Alphas are by nature overprotective and can be virile because of their animal nature, wanting to fight anyone that they perceive will (by their perception) be a danger to their pack. A fist fight may break out between a few Alphas in a room, and they may shift into their wolves and the pack doctor will have to give them a knockout drug to calm them down if they get into a situation with several Alphas in one room. In spite of the fact that their Lunas are joined in on the meeting, we still have to deal with the fighting Alphas. Lunas touching their mate usually calm them down. However, some Alphas have chosen mates and their Lunas don't affect them in the same calming way.

As a matter of birth right, my sister should have been the Alpha of Alphas, but it was actually I who ended the life of my father, making me instantly the Alpha King in that family. Despite the fact that my sister and I have discussed this issue so many times before, I had never wanted this to happen.

For me to be released from my throne, there would have to be certain events that would have to take place. My sister Melanie was not happy about the fact that one of them was going to kill me. In the same way that she does not particularly like that option, I also do not particularly like that option.

My chair slides gently across the newly waxed wooden floors as I move it back in place. The breeze that blew through the open balcony doors felt refreshing to my skin, so, without a second thought, I walked out onto the balcony and took in the scent of the freshly fallen leaves blown by the wind that touched my hair and blew through my nostrils.

From the balcony of my apartment, I am able to see the training grounds and I am able to watch Ashina training all the warriors, male and female, together on the training grounds. In the course of watching her form, I watch how she educates them on the importance of being aware of their attackers, even when they are not aware that they have them. In the midst of a war, all senses need to be used in order to survive. During times of war, it is essential that you keep your guard up at all times, or you will die. We wolves are very good at hearing. We can hear what is going on clearly even from a distance, which is quite impressive.

Trying to compose myself, I was lost in my own thoughts as I tried to figure out a way that Ashina and I might one day be able to be together as mates. I need to take a moment to remember what my sister told me about the rules for releasing the throne and what those rules would be. Obviously, the fact that I am dead is one of them. In addition to these, what were the others? As far as the rules are concerned, it hasn't been that long since we discussed them.

One of the rules that my mate and I agreed to was that if I died, the wolf would go feral and uncontrollable (again in my death) or I would leave for another pack for my mate. Unless I'm mistaken, that is the last one. I so hope that it is so. I would give everything to be with my mate in an instant if that were the case. In order to solve this problem, I need to speak with my sister.

Since I had been so lost in my thoughts that I was unable to notice Ashina calling out to me to ask if I would like to spar with her to educate the warriors, once I realized she was calling out to me, I immediately jumped from the balcony with a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm. "Oh, then bring it on!" I jokingly chided Ashina.
