Chapter 4 - Azora turns 16

It had been ten long years of pain , sadness, and loneliness for Azora . After Chief Miller's burial , Laury handed Azora's care to Mrs Maurice , who was Azora's nanny when she was only a few months old.

Maurice not only took care of Azora throughout the ten long years but also stood in gap as her mother figure , to fill the gap of loneliness in Azora's heart . Maurice's efforts partially was in vain as the little girl kept getting to a teen, and once she did , depression hit her life's walls harder than ever . Being the daughter of one of the richest men in town always tried to draw her to a social lifestyle but Azora resisted all , and maintained her secluded life .

"George ! Nathan!, where are you both ? We need to start making preparations for Azora's birthday ", Maurice shouted out putting an upset look on

Nathan rushed to the kitchen from where he heard Maurice's voice from with all shapes and sizes of balloons in his hands.

"What's all this?", Maurice calmly asked as she looked at his hands."Oh old fashioned Mrs Maurice , these are the decors for the party ", Nathan confidently answered . "Oh good lords Nathan, you call me old all the time but don't even know that teens don't fancy childish things like balloons", Maurice said as she laughed while heartedly .

"Only creepy people don't fancy balloons, its for all people regardless of what age they become", Nathan protested. "Its seems you've forgotten that our dear Azora isn't in the class of the so called 'all people', she's different from the rest", Maurice insisted .

She wasn't all that wrong when she said that, Azora never liked any company except from Amelia and Owen , who were her childhood friends .Azora hardly partied like other girls who were from affluencial homes in the town, and as that was so she hardly had friends who weren't interested in the wealth her dad left behind for her .

"Maurice I think its high time you stop calling Azora different , she was only facing some tough times due to her father's death, but im sure she's all over it now ",Nathan snapped at Maurice.

"No Nathan dear ,she hasnt , the pain of that event is still fresh in her heart , I see it in her eyes every single day that goes by , I wonder how she'll react to Mrs Laury's announcement tomorrow ",Maurice sobbed out.

"To what announcement if I may ask", Nathan questioned . "Mrs Laury has decided to officially transfer all Chief Miller's businesses and properties to Azora tomorrow", Maurice explained.

Nathan's eyes widened like that of an owl. "But isn't that illegal", Nathan asked in concern. "When it comes to the rich nothing is legal or illegal till they state it themselves, Mrs Laury felt it didn't make a difference if she took over what her father left behind whether tomorrow or when she becomes an adult",Maurice said. "She'll surely do it , won't she ?", Maurice asked Nathan.

"Uhh....., I guess so , its her rights , she should accept them whole heartedly, and if she doesn't then who will",Nathan asked as he widened his hands ,letting the balloons fall to the ground."You're right Nathan, she just has to accept it , Amelia and Owen will be by her side as always , she'll surely do if they tell her to ", Maurice concluded . " Yes she will",Nathan said as he put on a smile a pops one of the balloons with a pin.

Mrs Maurice shakes her head pitying the childish behavior displayed by Nathan as always . Her sigh feels the room while Nathan laughs at already pissed off Maurice.

"Now tell me where did George go to this time, I'm pretty sure he's goofing off as always",Maurice said upset. "Chill off Maurice , he actually went with Mrs Laury to order a cake and get a dress for Azora for tomorrow's celebration ",Nathan answered. "Hmmph , at least he's being useful, I thought he would be busy chatting with the rest of the maids"

Nathan's hearty laugh pissed Maurice off once , and as he continued , the fury in her face seemed to be too impossible for no one to notice . Maurice's hisses were the last words Nathan had to hear from her before the sound of her shoes heading to the terrace.
