Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

Sabella Mac felt soggy after an interesting night. She'd made a fortune for herself just like she said she would. She remembered telling her brother Henry she would become the richest lady in Salima.

When she was fifteen she felt suffocated living behind the mountains. She wanted to wander the world but what plagued their town would never allow her to leave. Her father was the town chief, her brother was next in line as for her all she could do was sit back and watch how things unfold till she was ripe for marriage.

Her brother had caught her when she tried making a run for the mountains and stopped her from going. Do you have enough money to leave this place he asked. Why do I need a lot of money to leave she questioned innocently.

Come with me Henry said standing up, he walked her through the bay side. Henry brought her to an indented part of the bay. You view Salima as the most beautiful place, even tourists who came in felt this place is closer to paradise but it's far from it. Father's responsibility wasn't only to govern but to fight for every womenfolk in this town.

Salima is but a small town in the country which is why traditions from the ancient period are still effective here today. Women do not have the same privileges as men. When your mother gave birth to your father had to pull several strings in other for you to have an education, you are almost done with high school with the best result the school had seen in years maybe this will give you the edge on entering college.

All these privileges you don't get to have restricts your movements too. Our tradition only allows us to prepare women for marriage. Our father was the reason why most ladies your age are currently studying instead of getting married right now, but if you manage to have a breakthrough and make some money, I think you wouldn't be restricted as many would.

Money that is huge enough to buy you lots of power, he sighed. But then father has money so will you too right, why do I need to make that much, she ventured. Henry laid his hand gently on her shoulders to draw her in, Father's money can only protect you so much, so will mine if you want to stand on your own, you want to be able to make your own decisions and no one will ask why you did, you need to make your own way.

Now I understand, she said nodding her head gently, I will become the richest woman in Salima and not just Salima, I promised to spread across the world too she said smiling.

Now she lay tired from the partying she had last night. Salima has changed a lot since that time, her father's death put a drawback a little but her brother's resolute character made the town more better. She had worked twice harder than she did and gained herself a college education, built her company and made sure she empowered women as much as she could.

A thousand-year-old tradition is hard to stop but there have been great improvements on the land. Sabella thought of how she shunned most of the elders when she wanted to build her company. Girls are often thought of as tools by their spouses, but she bucked the trend and made something for herself under her brother's tutelage.

She has created momentum for her company across the globe and gained more knowledge from her travels. Now she's bagged a doctorate degree with her own merits which was the cause for the night's celebration.

At twenty- seven she's still single. She had what she told her brother was a flat-out with Andrew which was a lie her brother could detect. Andrew hurt her so she put a stop to it just as she stopped being friends with Olivera who was a two-timer.

Hello there, Henry knocked snapping her out of her reverie. Hello yourself big brother she sat up gesturing for him. Thought you might need a little help getting up from bed this morning, he smiled down at her.

Yeah, go ahead and gloat she purred, my head's foggy and I feel soggy despite my sore body. Henry handed her a cup of lemon water. Hangover and post-coital can really mess you up.

Oh! She smacked her face desperately, I didn't have sex with Lance we only had this lips-smashing and body-touching thing, I was jelly for about thirty minutes that's all and why am I discussing sex with my big brother so early in the morning unabashedly? This should be embarrassing, so get out and let me dress up.

I will get up only if you give me an answer to what I requested from you. Sabella looked at her brother who switched from her intimate life to chasing her out of the house. Despite her having lots of money she had refused to leave her childhood home which is currently run by her brother. Every time she leaves Salima she makes sure she came back before her stipulated time.

Even when she studied abroad she didn't stay much, she scheduled all her classes to suit the time she wanted so she could be home with him. She told him she could.t let go of their father's memory when in truth she was scared Henry will be lonely without her.

I said I will think it over she grumbled. This is almost a month since we had this discussion and you are yet to think it over, he placed her head on her lap and stroke it gently. I am a big boy, Bella, I can take care of myself. Please don't ruin your dream for my sake. I love it here, I always have but you've always wished to walk the world and you've worked hard enough for it.

Now, you need to enjoy the fruits of all your labours else it'd be a waste. Also, you will be giving me enough breathing space to invite sexy Mila a chance to visit. She fears you and you are ruining my chances here.

Quit playing that card with me, I saw you in a serious lip-lock last night with her, I guess all her fears went down the drain when she saw you. She wasn't scared of me she was afraid I did be jealous of my brother's finally having a life apart from work. She patted his legs, don't worry brother I have decided to go north so you don't need your lame excuses to chase me out of the house.

Why north he asked, I heard it's fun she told him.
