Chapter 3 - Divergence

Adrian's POV

Adrian woke up feeling dizzy and disoriented. He felt like he had been chased in his dreams by Officer Dipshit.

"Arghh...my head," he clutched his head, feeling it throbbing. Bright light poured in, shining directly into his eyes. He squinted, trying to avoid the sun's intrusive rays.

He rubbed his eyes, trying to regain his focus, and glanced around the plain. "Seems alright. There's greenery. Trees, plants, rocks...aha, a river, and a giant spider skeleton. Well, everything is norm...why is there a 10-foot giant skeleton on the road?" He rubbed his eyes again. "Why the hell is there even a 10-foot spider skeleton??!!?"

He heard a faint sound beside him. It sounded like someone talking. He turned and saw the beautiful sight of Officer Dipshit sleep-talking beside him. "I'll be there, honey...I'll be..." Then he's out again.

Adrian couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of Officer Dipshit sleep-talking, his words a stark contrast to his gruff demeanor. "Man must be missing his home," he muttered under his breath, a smirk playing on his lips.

Shaking off his dizziness, Adrian realized he needed to gather his bearings and figure out where he was. He glanced around once more, taking in the peculiar surroundings. The giant spider skeleton remained an enigma, an eerie reminder that this was no ordinary place.

He felt a weight around his left hand, and something was shining on his palm. He had neglected its presence somehow, seeming the crown was clearly very noticeable.

"Ah, my precious, my precious," he lifted the crown and snuggled it. "Let's find out if you are worth something in this world."

He decided to move from here or else officer dipshit was going to try to arrest him and confiscate his precious crown in this new world if it wasn't a dream at all.

He groggily stood up, clutching his head. After putting the crown in his side bag, he looked at the Officer one last time. "It was a good time, officer dipshit. I applaud your cunningness and wickedness in chasing me all these years. There was only you to even remember me at all. For that, I'm grateful, but I guess this is goodbye." his eyes momentarily flicked to the gun holster.

"Son of a bitch could've fried me anytime, but why didn't he?" He shook his head. "I guess you really are a good man, despite being a dipshit." Adrian's eyes glistened, emotions flooding him, and then suddenly the officer stirred again.

"Must...kill him," then he was out.

The emotional thief was momentarily stunned, his face churning to form a scowl. "Mother fucker!"

He stoop down and carefully unhooked the holster, slowly so as not to wake up the sleeping man. He had heard somewhere that it is bad behavior to wake someone from sleeping. The black base of the metal came into view, and he traced his fingers along it. It was cold.

He glanced at the officer, still sleeping peacefully, and back to the gun. Then he picked it up by the handle and pointed it at the officer. "Oh, this thing is heavy." His eyes twinkled. "Would you even feel anything if I shoot you now, eh, dipshit?"

Something small caught his attention, a name badge on the officer's left chest and it spelled Callahan Moriarty, but for the uneducated and uncultured like Adrian, it looked like an alien name.

"Kan-kalant-" He stammered, trying to read the words together, "Kant- cunt. Cunt! Yes! Officer Cunt!" He exclaimed, feeling his educational skill coursing through his whole body. "What to say? I'm a bloody genius even without proper education." He laughed menacingly. "It's a name fitting, you dipshit. Your parents must have seen the future to name you just the right way. Now die, Officer Cunt!"

His hands shook, but he held it steadily. His mind was racing with adrenaline and his heart thumped in his chest. This was it, his chance to live a new life, free from the clutches of Officer Dipshit. But he was feeling a bit remorseful. He thought about how hard the officer chased him all these years and there was only him that remembered him. In that lonely world, there was only him.

"I guess I shouldn't be so ungrateful. You really are a good man, despite being a dipshit. Don't die Mr. Cunt. Let us hope to the world that our paths don't intertwine ever again." He shoved the handgun into his side bag. "It was fun while it lasted, officer Cunt. See there, I called you by your name. Be grateful about it, okay?"

He took a last look at his surroundings, the exhilarating view. The serene and pure atmosphere. And the most welcoming giant spider. He felt like he heard something beside the giant skeleton, and a tremor ran through him.

He scrunched his face and took one last look at the man, no older than two-three years more than him on the ground. This guy had said about his wife being pregnant and was due yesterday. "Congrats."

If you think he was sad by the fact that everyone of his age is married and living well with their family, then you are wrong! Dead wrong! He was the Neon Ghost and Neon Ghost doesn't need a family.

His crimson eyes gleamed with mischief as he turned away, taking one last look at the officer. The chase had been fun, and he wished to continue this game with this man, but it seems fate has other plans for them.

He looked at the giant skeleton again, across the road beside it, and turned to the opposite side, walking away.
