A loud noise came from outside my apartment and the knock on the door only became more fierce. No matter how much I closed my ears to ignore it, I couldn't. Not when it's in my apartment. Soon the neighbors would come out and there would be a fuss.
As I stood up and started making my way to the door, I couldn't help but wonder how my mother got here so fast. "How many minutes did it take packing my stuff?" I asked myself. And Madison wouldn't knock that hard on my door, if she wanted to get in she would have regardless of the door being locked.
I rushed my steps when I heard voices arguing from outside. Male voices.
I got to the door and asked "Who is it?"
But there was no response. My weak voice wasn't heard due to the argument outside. I opened the door slowly and noticed a well fit man with his back turned to me. He should be 6'5ft tall. His biceps were popping even in the well tailored suit he wore. He had something plugged in his ear which I could only assume was an security earpiece. He must be a security agent. I figured
"Man, you don't just come here and start knocking like you're about to break a door down and expect me to not be concerned."
I hear someone say. I tilt my head to have a better view of who the big guy was interacting with and I spot the neighbor from earlier. He must have caught me peeping cause his gaze fully diverted from the big guy who has now noticed me and turned to look at me.
My neighbor quickly comes to stand close to me as he mutters "If you are facing any sort of unwanted attention let me know, I work with the cops." He informs me and my eyes widen.
No..no I don't need a cop hovering around me… one close to me and lives in the same apartment building as me for that matter.
"It's fine." I coughed out. "I've got it. I'll handle it from here." I told him but he still didn't move, instead, he held his hand around his torso and gave the big guy a fierce stare of his own.
Well, it seemed like he wouldn't leave till he was certain I'm not in any sort of distress.
I turned to the man, who wore an expressionless face. Couldn't even read any emotion from his eyes either because he wore dark sunglasses. I cleared my throat to talk.
"Can I help you?"
"Your father wants you in his office in less than twenty minutes, we've wasted five minutes already so we don't have much time on our side."
"We?" I wanted to ask but the big guy just made his way past me and started advancing to my house.
I shared a look with my neighbor before we both followed him inside.
"Point me in the direction of your bedroom… Or never mind. We'll get you a new clothes..."
"Hold your horses, man," I called to stop him from moving any further. "What the fuck is wrong with you? I don't remember letting you into enter my house, so do yourself a favor and step the fuck out."
I spoke angrily and pointed to the door. But the big guy only looked at his watch before turning to look at me.
"There's not much time if you don't change out of your pajamas, I'm afraid I'll have to carry you out wearing that."
I opened my mouth in shock at the audacity.
"I am going to call my father and have him know that I won't be going anywhere with you."
I turned frantically trying to remember where I left my phone before going to open the door but it was nowhere to be found.
"Where did I put it?" I asked myself as I kept looking.
"Are you looking for this?" The deep masculine voice asked me and I snagged my head to his direction to find him holding what I was looking for.
"Give that back!" I warned
"If you do as I say, I will when we get to our destination." He informs me before tucking the phone inside his breast pocket.
" There's a cop in my house if you don't give me back my phone and leave my house this instant…" I was interrupted by the guy behind me poking my shoulder to get my attention.
"I'm not a cop. I said I work with the cops" He whispered in correction.
"What difference does it make?!" I whispered back, annoyed. When he started to explain the difference I turned away from his direction and turned to the big guy… Who enclosed his steps within the few seconds I was conversing. I jumped in shock.
"Let's go." And with that, he grabs my arm and starts to drag me alongside him as he makes his way to the door. I kicked and pulled but his form remained intact on my arm. As we started to get closer to the door… I grabbed a pen that lay carelessly on the table and used it to stab his hand. His grip loosened from my arm and I took that opportunity to scuttle away from him.
He quickly recollects himself faster than I'd imagined he would and started aiming to pin me down again. But my neighbor got in the way.
"You have to go through me first." He told the big guy. The big guy hit him on the head hard with his fist sending my neighbor crouching on the floor in pain.
So much for acting as a superhero.
The big guy looks at me and my eyes widen, I start to make my way to the kitchen to grab a knife to protect myself. But big guy caught up with me before I could enter my kitchen. He held me down by my head before holding my waist with the aim to lift me to his shoulders. My gloves went loose without me realizing it. As soon as he dropped me on his shoulder, I started to kick fiercely and started beating him on the back.
As soon as my hands came in contact with his clothes, they immediately turned to dust with him too. And I was left to crash down on the floor hard.
I held onto my arm from the impact of falling flat on the floor. Apparently, I sprained it. I stood up clutching my sprained arm with one hand weakly as I exhaled in a depleted manner.
I looked down to see what became of the big guy. It was all ash. He was all ash… His clothes, body… Nothing remained to show any sign of him he being here a mere moment ago including my phone. Except for a gem. I remember seeing it on his finger as a ring. Picked it up and carefully examined it.
I decided to worry about it later. I look up to find my neighbor on the floor with his eyes widened as if they would pop out any moment from now.
'Shit, he saw me!' I cursed
"Did he just disappear into dust?" he asked me with a shaky voice. As I thought of what to tell him, I had been careless to have seen someone enter my house carrying a bottle. It was when it rang on my neighbor's head, sending him unconscious I noticed the presence.
