As Milane walked back to her office from level 21, she bumped into Audrey.
"Milane!" Audrey called out excitedly.
"Hey, Audrey!" Milane hugged her friend, bursting with eagerness to share her recent escapades.
"I've got so much to tell you! I joined the app yesterday, and I had my first interview with my slave!" Milane couldn't contain her excitement.
"Omg omg! How was it? You gotta fill me in with all the juicy details, my friend~" Audrey's eyes sparkled with curiosity.
Audrey nodded, and they strolled side by side down the hallway into the lift.
"Let's talk while we walk. I don't want to be late and get scolded by Lucas," Milane said with a grin.
Audrey nodded, matching Milane's pace.
"Well, it was exhilarating. My first interviewee was a tall and broad-framed guy. They censored his face, so I don't know how he looks, but judging from his fingers and Adam's apple, I think he's hot," Milane gushed.
"Omg, and he's a sadist, eagerly awaiting the demands of his dominant master? He's like a hot puppy waiting for his master to pat him!" Audrey teased.
"Well, somehow, I feel he's not exactly a submissive. At least not before we started. His arrogance reminds me of Lucas. Haha. But I've got confidence in taming him down," Milane chuckled.
"And... did you?" Audrey asked, her eyes dancing with curiosity.
"Of course, I did! He's so sexy when he submits to me," Milane admitted, feeling a slight blush warm her cheeks.
"And I scored a contract with him!! He's so generous! Unlike my real employer Lucas. How I wish Lucas could be like him, generous and submissive! Haha," Milane joked, her mind drifting to the devilish boss she had to endure at work.
"Ding," the lift bell rang, and they walked out toward the CEO's office.
"Speaking of Lucas, did you notice that he looked different today? Like hotter and more cheerful?" Audrey mentioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes!!! I thought I was seeing things!" Milane replied with surprise.
"If he's that cheerful every day, I don't mind being his submissive and getting scolded by him all the time," Audrey teased playfully.
"Don't wish for something you can't handle!" Milane warned, but a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
"Remember all the suitors he rejected? None of them managed to hold back their tears! He's just too mean, too ungentlemanly!" Milane added, recalling the memories of Lucas's unforgiving rejection of various candidates.
"Thank god, you reminded me. Hahaha. I mean, I'm submissive, but not to that point, haha," Audrey chuckled.
"Actually, I wonder if he's straight? Seems like he's not interested in any woman. But it's actually a blessing for the female community since I doubt any normal girls will be able to tolerate him… He'll probably be single forever. Mmm? Audrey, is your eyesight okay? Why are you blinking repeatedly at me?" Milane asked, perplexed by Audrey's odd behavior.
"Turn around, Milane!" Audrey hushed and quickly walked away.
Confused, Milane turned her head around and saw Lucas staring at her, looking rather angry.
Shit shit shit!!
Before she could apologize, Lucas turned and walked into his office.
Milane hesitated for a moment, then knocked on his door with a heavy heart.
"Come in," Lucas said, his voice stern.
"Mr. Leedon, here's the contract and the coffee." Milane hesitated before continuing, "Did you hear anything just now? I'm sorry; I was just joking with—"
Before she could complete her sentence, Lucas interrupted.
"Hear anything?" Lucas asked, his eyes locked on her.
Before she could sigh with relief, thinking he didn't hear anything, Lucas continued, "Like 'single forever'?"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Leedon. I shouldn't have. Please don't be angry," Milane said, feeling her heart sink.
"Angry? Of course not, why would I be offended by a lie? I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I have a girlfriend," Lucas stated with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Milane's jaw dropped, and her embarrassment turned into disbelief. She never saw that coming! Her stern boss had just morphed into a flamboyant peacock, proudly showing off his romantic conquest.
"Well, although we just started our relationship, it has been great, and I think she truly enjoys my presence. Maybe what you said was true. I doubt any ordinary woman could withstand my wholesome character. Only a wonderful, strong woman like her could stand beside me as my partner," he boasted, striking a pose with mock seriousness.
Milane was rendered speechless. She had never witnessed this side of Lucas before, and it left her both amazed and perplexed.
"Congratulations! I believe she must be a really special lady, and you two will be a perfect match," Milane curried favor, trying to regain her composure.
"Of course," Lucas replied, evidently pleased by her response.
"Mr. Leedon, how about you bring her as your companion for tonight's event? I believe everyone else will be jealous looking at this perfect couple," Milane suggested, hoping to find a way out of attending the event with him.
Lucas paused, his expression showing a hint of embarrassment, "Well, we are sort of in a long-distance relationship. It's not time to announce it to everyone yet. When she's ready, I'll do that. And you, don't think you can escape tonight's event."
Milane sighed inwardly, realizing she couldn't avoid the event, even with her attempts. Her right eye twitched nervously, a superstitious feeling telling her that something bad was going to happen tonight, which only fueled her desire to escape.
However, it seemed like destiny had other plans, and she was destined to attend the event.
After work, she quickly rushed to the salon to get her outfit, makeup, and hairdo done. She wanted to look her best, hoping that the evening would pass by smoothly and uneventfully.
Finally, dressed in a stunning black mermaid dress with delicate lace around her chest line, she returned to the office to meet up with Lucas.
When Lucas saw her, he couldn't help but be stunned by her beauty. He had always known that his secretary was a beauty, but tonight, she seemed to exude an extra aura of elegance and allure. He found himself momentarily taken aback by the transformation, trying to put a finger on what exactly was different about her tonight. There was a hint of familiarity in her look, but he couldn't quite place it.
"Mr. Leedon, the chauffeur is waiting in the basement. We can make a move now," she said, breaking him out of his thoughts. He composed himself and followed her to the waiting car. The ride to the event hall was quiet, both of them lost in their own thoughts.
As they alighted from the car and made their way into the event hall, Milane suddenly caught sight of a familiar silhouette. Her heart skipped a beat, and she couldn't believe her eyes.
Isn't that Donovan?
