I couldn't stop thinking about that strange figure. Class was going on but I barely paid attention to the teacher and what he was saying. Each time someone asked me a question I would shrug my shoulders saying I didn't know and they would look at me like I lost an eye or something which is understandable considering I was one of the smart ones and the teacher must have noticed this too as he called me out.
"Isabella, you seem to be a little distracted so let's bring you back to us, come on up to the board and write down ten mensuration formulas".
"Wait, menstruation has formulas?" a random student said which earned some chuckles and even full blown laughs while Mr Frederick rolled his eyes and I rolled mine as well, I mean come on that joke is so last four years.
I stood up and started walking to the board and I noticed barbie doll smirking at me and I so wanted to give her the finger but it would be much more satisfying to see the look on her face when I show her how inferior she is to me. Harsh, but it's true.
I smiled back at her and walked up to the board and wrote down the formulas but I didn't feel satisfied so I turned to the teacher.
"Sir why don't I just write them all" I glanced at Maddison and noticed that her smirk had disappeared and I was tempted to throw a smirk at her but held back. Mr Frederick nodded his head and I turned back to write all 34 of them. I finished, dropped the marker and turned to the class and they all had dumbstruck expressions, well exempting two people,one being Mr Frederick since he was already aware of my smarts and the other being barbie doll, she was grinding her teeth with a pretty mean glare on her face. I flicked my hair and walked to my seat while Mr Frederick continued teaching.
The class eventually ended and the other two flowed by while I was still thinking about the figure. ' Could it be that all the weird vibes I've been getting lately are because of that person? but why is he doing this and what does he want with me?'
I'm brought out of my thoughts by the sound of the bell signaling the start of lunch break. I quickly pack my things and rush to my locker to drop my books so I can make it to lunch. As I reach there I arrange them with the notes for the rest of the day up front so that I can easily get them after lunch then I close the door. The locker by my right that had been opened was closed by it's owner as well ' that's weird, I thought this locker didn't have an owner' I turned my head and saw... THE BOY THAT RAN INTO ME BEFORE.
As I saw him, he also looked towards me and at first he seemed confused, most likely wondering why I was staring at him but then the confusion in his eyes changed to something I couldn't really understand and then he stretched his hand out to me with the palm face up making a give-me gesture. I'm confused by what he needs until he opens his mouth.
" Hellooo, your phone?"
" Huh?!" I'm totally confused on what's going on right now.
" You're staring at me because you want my number but you're too shy right? It's alright I know I'm gorgeous, so you want a piece of me?" he said with a bright smile. Now I'm only human so like any human I'm not going to deceive myself because he really is gorgeous but then again I use my brain more than my heart in a lot of situations and this is most definitely one of them. So in reply I scrunch my face in disgust in reply
" Get over yourself you tirón de la. Ugh I can't believe your locker is right next to mine. What is wrong with today?".
'Yeah that sounds much better, your face won't get you every attention you want'.
I turned around already walking away but he held my arm stopping me and I turned around ready to give him a piece of my mind but the spoke before I could.
" Um, I'm sorry you're the girl I bumped into earlier right?" he asked.
I squinted my eyes at him suspiciously while giving a slow nod. His eyes widened in realisation then he nodded his head as if confirming something and bent his face towards the floor.
"I'm sorry for what I did earlier" he said lifting his head slightly to look at me. Now there's something you don't see everyday. One minute he's being a narcissist flirt and the very next he's apologizing with a look as if someone kicked his puppy.
" For what exactly?" Hah, did he seriously think that I'd give in so easily?
"For being rude when I bumped into you and for my behaviour just now "
Hmmm this is seriously suspicious but I'll just let it go for now.
" It's all right as long as your sincerely sorry then we're cool " In response he smiled and nodded his head but really though what does it take to be born like that. " Ok nice talking to you but I gotta go " I turn to leave but then he grabs me again and I turn back to him " yes? " If I miss lunch because of him there'll be hell to pay.
" Sorry the thing is I'm new here so I was just hoping if I could maybe, if you're okay with it though, um join you... for... lunch? " Well thinking about it there isn't any reason to refuse and Chloe would have another person to disturb.
" Okay sure follow me" I turned to start walking but he grabbed me again and I looked at him with the intent to murder.
" My name is Xavier by the way"
" Okay nice to meet you Xavier" I turn once again but of course he drags me back AGAIN!!!
" What's yours? " he asked smiling. What's so funny I'm seconds away from biting him and I feel like being petty and not telling him my name but that would make seem stupid considering he could hear it from my friends and I refuse to lool like a fool in front of him!!!
" Mine is Isabella. We really need to go before lunch ends" he nods in understanding and walks to my side and like that we walked to the cafeteria. As we reached the doors they were closed but he stepped in front and opened it for me. I stared at him with a brow arched and he just shrugged his shoulders " I still feel guilty about earlier, just trying to get brownie points"
"Ah then if you buy me lunch you'd have stacked up a lot of those points sí" I say as I walk without facing him.
" Deal " I turned back to see him giving a full blown smile and I smiled in return at the same time I'm sure I heard several cutleries dropping and turned to realise that all eyes were on us. I turned back to Xavier but he looked as confused as I felt and he looked at me silently asking what was happening but I shrugged my shoulders and kept walking. Well I understand why people are looking at him but I don't get why he himself doesn't understand because with the way he was acting earlier by the lockers I could tell that he knew he was handsome but welp it ain't my concern.
We reached the table where my friends were and I heard him say something about getting food so I turned telling him to get enough for two which caused him to smile then he walked away and I sat down with my friends. I realized my mistake by not telling Xavier when we were outside to get the food because next thing I knew they were all over me with questions like,
" Isn't that the new kid? "
" Where did you meet the new kid? "
" Why did he open the door for you? "
" Wait is he getting your lunch? "
" Are you friends from childhood because if you are you will pay dearly for keeping such a man from him? "
" Did he ask you out? "
" Que chicos preguntar también muchos Preguntas "
" What was that you said? "Chloe asked , I shook my head telling her to not worry but she was giving me a death glare. She doesn't like when I speak Spanish and not translate it.
Before I could answer any question Xavier had already come back and all the questions were put on hold and they all gave me a look saying 'this isn't finished' then turned to address him. Edmund was the first to speak up
" So you're the new kid right? " he asked with a smile on his face.
Xavier looked up from the food tray and answered with a smile " Yeah, the name's Xavier" then faced back down to the tray. "Well mine is Edmund" Edmund said offering a handshake and Xavier reciprocated it and they both faced their food. And that ladies and gentlemen is one of the ways guys become friends just like, well I prefer this method to the egotistical one where they fill any room they're in with hormones all in the name of proving who's the boss.
"I'm Chloe and this Samantha " Chloe said pointing at herself then to Samantha who gave a small wave then looked down but her eyes glued onto Xavier's food tray and widened, I followed them and mine widened as well. On the tray was a large sized hamburger, enough fries to feed a house, a large sized smoothie and small yoghurts beside it and as if I couldn't get shocked more he moved the tray to my front. My eyes switched from the food to him back to the food then finally rested on him.
" I can't finish this heck I don't think I can take half of it all." Now can I mention that I'm a big eater for a girl like 'eating a large size pizza by myself' large. I also noticed that he didn't have a tray in front of him.
" where's yours?"
" Well they had run out of trays so I just thought we could share "
" Oh Gracias Dios , I was worried there for a moment, here" I slid the tray to be in the middle and gave him the smoothie and burger then took all the yoghurts.
" But I want the yoghurts " he said giving me puppy eyes.
" So you were expecting me to finish that giant thing? " I said gesturing to the smoothie. He looked at the smoothie then st me but it was clear to see that he didn't understand what the big deal was.
" Haaa, fine you can have them and I'll take the smoothie" I passed them to him then he passed the smoothie back and he started eating then so did I.
We were all eating with Ed and Sam staring at Xavier from time to time while Chloe glared at me. I'm pretty sure it's due to me not mentioning anything about knowing him but then again I only met him today! Haaaa
I took a sip from the smoothie and tried to drop it but at that point someone bumped into me and the drink spilled on my top.
" Oh my God, I'm so sorry. Are you okay " I wanted to turn to tell them that I was okay but Xavier beat me to it.
" She's fine but watch where you're going " he said glancing at the person.
" Okay, I'm really sorry still " This time I turned and smiled at her saying I was fine then she left. I turned back and picked a tissue from the table to clean off the spill but it wasn't going as planned
" You should probably go clean that up with water " Edmund said. I turned to him and nodded my head and got up saying I was going to the restroom then left.
As I got to the bathroom I turned on the tap and started cleaning off the mess. " Ugh great, I'm going to scent like vanilla for the rest of the day " I was finally able to wash off the drink but now my top had a big wet patch. The door to the restroom opened drawing my attention and I turned to see Maddison and her two followers avery and ivory the twins. They walked up to me and I was confused on what was going on. Maddison noticed my look and decided to shed some light on the situation at hand.
" I want to know why the new kid was seen talking to you by the lockers earlier and what on earth you said to him to not only walk you to Cafe but buy and share food as well"
Wow, she doesn't even know his name and she's already dreaming about getting into his pants.
" I don't remember having the obligation of sharing whatever happens in my life to you. So do us both a favour and stay out of my business, okay barbie doll? " I pushed her aside and walked past them and left. I walked back to the cafeteria and sat down. My mood must have been expressed on my face because my friends have a concerned look on their faces and ask if everything was alright but I waved them off saying I was fine. They didn't seem convinced but went back to eating, I stretched my hand to collect some fries but Xavier held my hand and I looked up to him then he asked me in a whisper.
" Are you sure you're okay, it took you a while to come back" he seemed really concerned but I just smiled and nodded my head and gently pulled my hand from his and started eating. After staring at me for a while he went back to eating.
As we finished eating we cleared the trays and walked out. We stepped out and then the bell started to ring indicating the end of lunch period.
" Ok that's my cue, I'll see you guys later" I waved at them and they waved back but Chloe followed saying she felt like walking with me, I wanted to tell her not to bother but she gave me a look telling me to zip it. As we walked I looked and saw Xavier still in the same spot staring at me. He noticed me then waved and I waved back and turned back front. I noticed Chloe giving me s questioning look but I acted ignorant.
We reached my locker and Chloe finally chose to start speaking
" Okay so explain how you know Xavier " she asked ready for juicy gossip and I laughed and shook my head.
" It's not much but..." I explained to her everything that transpired with him from him bumping into me to what happened Infront of the lockers to our conversation in front of the cafe. As I finished explaining I was through with what I needed so I turned to see her with a thinking look on.
" Okay but isn't it weird how he became .. how do I say this, mellow? I mean considering how he acted "
" Yeah I get what you mean but for all we know he may have been in a rush when he bumped into me and I was staring intensely at him so I get where he's coming from ". Chloe didn't seem convinced but the bell rang for the next period so we said our goodbyes and headed in different directions. I had free period now so I headed to the library to finish up some home work. As I reached the library I waved at the librarian Mrs Wyatt and she waved back. She's a really cool person and isn't park of the thick lens glasses troupe and she's really pretty and I'm eighty percent sure she has a thing for the English teacher. The remaining twenty percent being for Mr Frederick but ehh I wish her luck.
I got a table in a corner and drop my things to keep my seat then walk to the shelves to get the books I would need. It was a history assignment so I walked to that section and start picking out the books I would need. I had gotten them all except and noticed that the last one was really high, I looked around searching for a ladder but didn't see it so I dropped the books in my hand to the floor and stretched to get it. I could barely reach it so I stretched little further and pulled the book from the bottom but some other books that beside it were dragged along with it and they came crashing down.
" Damn it " I was able to jump back on time to avoid getting a bump on my head. I bent and started to pick them up, at the last book a hand came out of no where and picked it up.
" I heard a loud sound come from here, are you alright? " the voice came from the person that had picked the book.
" Oh sorry to disturb you and I'm fine tha..." I looked up thanking him but was dumbstruck by what I saw and before my brain could catch up my mouth was already taking action. " What the heck!!! you have purple eyes ?".
I'm pretty sure that's not one says to a stranger that tries to help. Oops.
