It was a pleasant morning as Sin Abraham decided to take a stroll through the sprawling gardens behind the family estate. He was blind but enjoyed feeling the sun on his face and smelling the blooms as he slowly wandered the familiar grounds. However, during his walk that day, Sin had an unexpected encounter with two family members - his niece Yui, along with the girl's mother and Sin's sister-in-law, Yuna Rangel.
Yuna had been married to Sin's now-deceased older brother. Since her husband's untimely passing, Yuna harbored an intense hatred and resentment towards Sin himself. She went to great lengths to avoid interacting with her despised brother-in-law at all costs.
So when Sin unknowingly approached the part of the gardens where Yuna and Yui sat, Yuna was immediately outraged to find herself ambushed by the man she loathed above all others. Oblivious to Yuna's presence, Sin had only sensed his young niece Yui nearby. Cheerfully, he walked over and warmly addressed the child from behind where she sat with her mother.
"Good morning Yui!" Sin called out, facing the girl's back while unaware of Yuna just beside her. "Isn't it a lovely day to play outside?"
Yui started to excitedly respond to her beloved uncle, but Yuna quickly hushed the girl, shooting daggers from her eyes at Sin. How dare this man speak so casually not only to Yui but to Yuna herself, without even properly acknowledging her first? Yuna seethed at Sin's audacity to insert himself into their mother-daughter time as if his company would be welcome.
Sin acted like he could not see the absolutely livid expression on Yuna's face. But pausing after Yui's hushed response, he soon sensed the tense energy that signaled he had intruded on more than just his adoring niece. Slowly it dawned on Sin that his hostile sister-in-law must also be keeping Yui company in the garden. He had not meant to bypass Yuna to address Yui directly - his visual impairment left him oblivious to her presence.
However, Yuna did not care at all for Sin's innocent obliviousness or his disability. She was incensed that he spoke so casually to her daughter without regard for her as Yui's mother. To Yuna, Sin had no right to approach Yui like a loving uncle when Yuna herself despised him so fiercely. His blindness did not excuse his audacity in her eyes.
As Yui looked back and forth between her mother's anger and her uncle's innocent kindness, she felt very confused by the obvious tension. Sin quickly apologized for intruding and politely took his leave. But internally, he felt another sting of rejection from his hostile in-law. No matter how he tried, Sin could not get through to Yuna or overcome her deep animosity.
Nevertheless, Sin still hoped that one day Yuna would soften and allow him to build a relationship with both her and Yui. For now, he walked back inside with disappointment weighing on him but determined to keep trying with small gestures of goodwill, believing he could eventually melt even the iciest heart.
As Sin left, young Yui studied her mother's tight, bitter expression, and wondered why her caring uncle was always treated so harshly. In her childlike wisdom, she sensed the problem rested not with poor blind Uncle Sin but rather lay within those unable to see the goodness right in front of their eyes.
In reality, young Yui was unaware of a dark secret from when she was a newborn baby. Years ago, it was her Uncle Sin who had cruelly thrown her into a trash bin, back when she was just a helpless infant. Yui's mother Yuna had discovered what Sin did and never forgave him for the heartless act. However, she shielded innocent Yui from the horrible truth, knowing it would only break her kindhearted daughter's heart to learn how her beloved uncle had treated her.
So while Sin's past cruelty remained hidden from Yui, it was something Yuna vividly remembered. She harbored immense bitterness over what Sin had done to her vulnerable baby. In Yuna's mind, nothing could justify or make up for Sin tossing aside his own little niece like garbage. The damage had been done, and Yuna would never see Sin as anything but a monster.
Of course, nowadays, Sin treated Yui with only kindness and affection. He had undergone a drastic change in personality since those early dark days. However, Yuna remained staunchly unforgiving of Sin's previous evil actions, regardless of his new gentle nature toward Yui. Even as Sin tried again and again to approach them with warmth in order to make amends, Yuna always rejected him outright.
After everything Sin had done, Yuna simply had no trust left to give him another chance. As far as she was concerned, he had permanently lost the privilege of being part of their heart after mercilessly discarding baby Yui. Yuna would not risk letting down her guard and allowing Sin back into their lives, only to have history repeat itself. So, she continued shutting him out completely, turning icy and harsh whenever Sin attempted to interact with Yui.
Of course, Sin could understand why Yuna harbored such hatred and distrust of him. He regretted that one cruel choice Original Sin made as a foolish, troubled youth. If he could undo the damage, he would do so in a heartbeat. But Sin knew some stains could never be erased, no matter how much he now wished to make things right. All he could do was persist in showing Yuna and Yui that he had genuinely changed for the better.
Though it pained Sin each time Yuna scorned his overtures of kindness, he did not give up hope that someday, she would peek behind her veil of hatred and see the man he had become. Sin believed that if he just remained patient and consistent in small gestures of goodwill, eventually Yuna's heart would soften and she would allow him into their lives once more.
For now, Sin accepted that the wounds of the past ran too deep in Yuna for her to open back up to him. But he had faith that God could work miracles if given enough time. Rather than become bitter himself, Sin chose to keep loving Yuna and Yui unconditionally, trusting that his sincerity would prevail in the end over even the most hardened heart.
