~~ BELLA'S POV ~~
Leon left home without informing me where he was going, and I had breakfast to my relief. Although I tried acting all brave last night, I still had nightmares from my previous life with him.
[Bella, are you sure you don't want to move out? Just one night here, and you've already started getting nightmares.]
"No, I have some questions I need answers to, and I can only get them by staying with him and befriending him," I sighed and took a sip from my glass.
[Why...]
"Butterfly, please let me handle this for now. You can interfere when I'm drifting from my mission, but about this, just let it be."
[Alright, do as you please.]
"Talking about my mission, when am I going to meet my main target?"
[Well, in this life, you have more than three targets. The first one, which you've taken care of, while the second one is on its way.]
"Oh really, I can't wait to meet them," I smirked and took another sip from my glass. My phone rang, and I picked it up to find a call from Kiara.
"Hello."
"Hello, Mrs. Copeland, how are you doing?" I could hear the amusement in her voice, and I just rolled my eyes.
"Okay, cut it. What do you want?"
"Well, your mum said she's been trying to reach you, but you weren't taking her calls, so I called to find out how your night was."
Now I understand what she meant, and I felt like slapping her.
"Just f**k off," I scoffed.
"Hey, just chillax. Your mum only told me to invite you for shopping."
"Hmm... at what time?"
"By twelve."
"Okay, I'll be there." I ended the call and rushed to the room to dress; thank goodness I was free for the day.
*. *. *
I arrived at the shopping mall and was welcomed by mum. She hugged and pecked me all over my face, and I smiled, knowing my mum would never change.
"How have you been?" she said with a smile.
"I'm good," I said shortly.
"Hope you ain't giving Leon any problems?" she raised an eyebrow.
"No, mum, I don't... I let him sleep till his heart's content, and when he woke up, I prepared breakfast for him." I lied with a smile, and Kiara started coughing.
"Aww, my baby has grown up so much." Mum smiled and led the way into one of the stores.
"You're such a liar," Kiara whispered into my ear and walked away.
Telling a white lie wasn't a big deal, and knowing mum so well, she would have brought down heaven if I told her what I did to Leon.
Mum began shopping, and I sat at a corner going through my social media accounts. I wasn't interested in shopping today, so I just nodded at anything mum showed me and prayed silently for this day to come to an end soon.
"We meet again." I turned to find Penny, Leon's ex-girlfriend.
I just ignored her, pretending not to see her.
"Hey girls, come over here, come and meet the bitch who called me ugly at my birthday party." she called her friends over.
"Is she one of my targets?" I questioned Butterfly.
[No, but there's no harm in teaching her a lesson if she crosses her limits.] Butterfly said, and I just nodded and went back to my phone, ignoring both her and her friends as I wasn't in the mood to fight with anyone, especially not an ugly thing like her and her association of ugly ducklings.
"Hey, I'm talking to you, bitch." She snatched away my phone, trying to gain my attention. Well, I didn't know I was this special.
Well, if she's Leon's ex-girlfriend, I wonder why I never saw her in my previous life. But that's none of my business. I just closed my eyes, taking in deep breaths to calm my nerves.
"Give me back my phone," I asked in the nicest way I could, but she didn't comply. Something told me this girl wanted trouble.
"Seems Leon isn't here to save you, so what are you going to do, slut?"
And just like that, my last string of patience just broke loose. She thinks Leon is the one protecting me? Oh really?
[Put her in her place, girl.] Butterfly said.
"You want to see what I can do, right?" I asked.
"Oh yes, please show me," she scoffed, and I turned around to make sure there was enough crowd. I could see her smirk... too bad I'm about to wipe it off.
I gave her an upward palm heel strike, knowing very well she didn't expect it, and she wasn't an experienced fighter.
"How dare you?" she screamed as blood kept flowing down her nose. Everyone gathered around us kept laughing while some made videos.
"Now listen very closely, Penny Quinn. If I ever see you around my husband or hear his name from your dirty mouth, I'll send you to hell. Like, come on, what's wrong with you? Leon is already married, so get over him. And you wanted to see what I can do, right? Where's the manager?" I called, and everyone turned to face me. I could feel the dangerous stares from Penny, but I wanted to put her in her place once and for all, and if she thinks I'm done with her, well, she's wrong because I'm far from beginning.
"Mrs. Carson," a chubby man in a suit came forward.
"Good afternoon, ma, please what's your challenge?" he asked.
"There's a little pest that has refused to allow me to carry out my shopping in peace. You know what to do about this pest, right? But if you don't know, I'll be glad to remind you of the consequences if I decide to leave this place right now." I threatened with a serious face.
"Ahem... miss Quinn, we would please need you to leave the premises."
"What? How dare you? Do you know who my father is?"
"Please call the security guards," I said, and she stormed out of the store like a kid.
"Ma, we are sorry for the inconvenience," he apologized, and I nodded.
I turned to find mum smiling, which was unlike her. I was preparing to get scolded for breaking Penny's nose, but she gave me a thumbs up instead. Kiara, on the other hand, winked, and I knew I was never going to hear the end of today from either of them.
~~ LEON POV ~~
I arrived home and heard some weird noise from the kitchen. I looked around, and there was no servant around, so I made my way towards the kitchen and found Bella picking up the broken pieces of glass. What the hell is she even doing in the kitchen?
"First his ex-girlfriend, and now his utensils are troubling me. Why can't I just have a free day without any stress?" I smiled, hearing her.
The news was all over the media with the # Mrs. Leon Copeland broke the nose of Miss Penny Quinn
# Ex-girlfriends, know your limits. I was shocked at first when Matt showed me the news, but I didn't mind as Penny needed to be taught a lesson.
I tiptoed and hugged her from behind, placing my chin on her shoulder, and I could feel her tense up at first.
"Why are you venting your anger on the poor utensils?" I whispered, and she turned to face me.
"Did you tell everything related to you to trouble me today?" she raised an eyebrow.
"What, me? What did I do?" I played innocent.
"Don't tell me you haven't seen the news."
"Oh, you mean Penny. Well, she got what she deserves. I had warned her."
"You sure?" she looked into my eyes.
"Yeah."
"Why are you being nice and sweet to me?" she suddenly said, and I felt lost.
"Don't girls love it when their man is acting clingy and obedient?"
"Hmm... I don't know, maybe because you're my wife, and you deserve to be pampered." I held her by her waist and helped her sit on the counter.
"Well, Mr. husband, unlike novels where a mafia gets married to an innocent sweet girl and he has to change for her, you don't have to change for me because I'm not innocent, neither am I sweet... I am fire ready to consume everything." She traced her hand down my chest with an emotionless face.
"I know you ain't innocent from our last two encounters." I tucked her hair behind her ear.
"Hmmm... I'm aware of the first time we met, but I don't remember the second time," she raised an eyebrow.
"Remember the night you killed Bolin, you pointed a gun at me." I smirked.
"You're lying... if I did, then you would be dead," she rolled her eyes.
"Well, I know that, and that's why I thanked my creator you never saw my face even when you were in my car." I kissed her lips, and she gasped.
"Why did I miss that? I missed such an opportunity?" She pouted, and I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Wait, so you would have really killed me if you knew I was the one driving?"
"Yes, without a doubt."
"Why? I mean, I've never done any wrong to you."
"Really? If you didn't kidnap my best friend and my right-hand person, then maybe I wouldn't have thought of you to be such a jerk," she smiled.
"What, me, a jerk?" I smiled as she is the only woman brave enough to insult me to my face.
"Yes."
"Well, other ladies are dying to be with this jerk, and you should be thanking me instead of calling me a jerk. Bolin wanted to shoot her, so I pretended to adopt her," I smirked.
"Wait, you mean that slut tried killing her? Too bad he's with the devil. But why was she unconscious and tied up when I arrived?" This wife of mine is too smart for my own good.
"Ahem... let's just start all over again." I tried changing the topic.
"Whatever," she pushed me away and made her way to the door.
"Just hold it," I pulled her back.
"Let go of me."
"No, you would first have to agree to us starting over," I said, and she tried wiggling out of my grip.
"Let... go... it tickles," she said in between laughter, and for the first time, I could see her genuinely smile. She looked very beautiful with no care in the world, and I suddenly loved this side of her.
"Okay, okay, I'll be your friend."
"You sure? Hope you ain't backing out after I let go?"
"I promise I ain't an asshole, so I won't back out," she said, and I let go just for her to run out of the kitchen, laughing uncontrollably.
"Hey, you better bring me cold coffee," she said, standing at the door trying to make a serious face.
"Yes, ma," I saluted with a smile, and she winked. What a relief.
