Chapter 460 - Chapter 460: Vicious Wolves! Vicious Wolves!

In one of the prime material worlds, the continent of Xium.

Looking down from the high heavens, under the sunlight, one could see the boundless, shimmering blue ocean, with the splendid sunset reflecting on the sea surface, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene.

However, under the blood-red setting sun, this picturesque environment was filled with a sense of impending doom.

Giant dragons spread their wings, soaring over the ocean, their deep thunderous roars echoing as they released overwhelming dragon might. Occasionally, they would dive into the sea, causing towering waves to surge as they broke through the surface.

At the same time, some peculiar giants, at least ten meters tall, surrounded by tons of seawater, could be seen.

These giants had skin tones that matched the ocean, ranging from light blue to deep blue. The older and larger the giants, the darker their skin tone, and their skin bore wave-like patterns that emitted a faint glow, suggesting a mysterious connection with the sea.

These were sea giants.

Unlike most giants, sea giants were amphibious, capable of living both on land and in the ocean.

However, all true dragons were amphibious, capable of living in air, land, and sea. At this moment, they were dominating the ocean, attacking the sea giants' kingdom located in the depths of the sea. To defend their kingdom, the sea giants were fighting back against the dragon army.

The sea giants stood directly on the water, with the seawater gathering solidly under their feet, supporting their bodies.

In the sky, the dragons swooped down, attacking these giants with physical strikes or using spells and dragon breaths to bombard the sea surface.

The giants, experienced in combat, would dive deep into the ocean to avoid the dragons' breath and spells, then use the power of the sea to counterattack.

Endless seawater condensed into shapes like spears, javelins, and water bombs, shooting towards the dragons in the sky.

However, the giants' counterattacks were somewhat ineffective.

With the dragons dominating the airspace, they could easily evade or withstand the attacks with their iron-hard scales.

A few legendary giants capable of flight would quickly be besieged by the dragons if they left the ocean, forcing them to either dive back into the sea or be torn apart by the dragons.

As time passed, giants were slain one by one, and occasionally a dragon, too gravely injured, would fall into the depths of the sea.

Gradually, the sea turned red with blood, and the scent of blood wafted with the sea breeze.

After some time.

"Hmph, you reptiles! Invading my kingdom and forcing me out of seclusion will be your most foolish decision!"

Boom!

Amid the giants' roar, a surge of powerful energy erupted.

A fifty-meter-tall sea giant emerged from the sea, its muscular body rippling like deep blue rock. As it surfaced, a waterspout formed, lifting it up, making it look like a master of the ocean.

The giant wore a golden crown and armor that resembled fish scales, holding a golden trident, standing proudly in the waterspout, its gaze sweeping over the dragons.

This was King Augsgor of the sea giants.

A giant whose level was thirty-nine, just a step away from demigodhood.

When the war broke out, he was in seclusion, attempting to break through to the demigod realm. However, he was forced out by the local dragons, failing to succeed and becoming furious.

The sea giant king's eyes were sharp, quickly locking onto the dragon leader through the intensity of their dragon might.

"Kexser, you have never been my match."

"How dare you invade my territory? This time, you won't leave!"

The sea giant king's gaze fell on a massive sea-green dragon with a faint silver sheen on its scales.

Its body was long and sinuous, its claws like swords, its tail extraordinarily long, almost three-quarters of its body length. A pair of massive dragon horns adorned its head, gleaming with an ivory luster.

This was a sea emperor dragon.

Rulers of the ocean depths, sea emperor dragons were nearly comparable to gold dragons in the same age group.

Given that ninety-nine percent of the Xium continent was ocean, with the so-called land being merely floating islands of varying sizes, this was an ideal environment for sea giants, sea emperor dragons, and similar creatures.

With both ruling the ocean, conflicts were inevitable.

Even before the war, there was already a deep-seated blood feud between the sea emperor dragons and the sea giants.

Kexser, the sea emperor dragon, had clashed with the sea giant king several times, but due to being two levels lower in strength, he was always at a slight disadvantage.

However, leading the dragon race to attack the sea giant kingdom was necessary.

If the sea giant king reached the demigod realm, he would become even more difficult to deal with.

Besides, the sea emperor dragon had a trump card.

"Ha ha, Augsgor, I've been waiting for you!"

Kexser laughed, his dragon roar piercing the sky.

"Dragon warriors, heed my command, resonate your bloodlines with mine!"

"Annihilate these sea giants!"

Ancient and older sea emperor dragons had powerful mental abilities, allowing them to connect mentally with different creatures, harmonizing their thoughts and hearts.

Thus, after obtaining the secret of resonance casting, the sea emperor dragon used his abilities to help the dragons of Xium master it. He had been holding back, waiting to use it against the formidable sea giant king.

Resonance casting required great coordination among the casters.

The sea emperor dragon's large-scale mental connection was well-suited for resonance casting.

Raising his head, Kexser spread his wings.

An invisible surge of mental power extended, like countless invisible chains, connecting to the bodies of the dragons.

Instantly, the chaotic sound of flapping wings, breathing, and roars ceased.

The sea giant king felt a heavy sense of foreboding.

In his perception, the dragons in the sky moved in unison, their wingbeats, breathing, and even their dragon might merging seamlessly.

The dragons' blood pulsed in a unique rhythm, forming a massive dragon shadow thousands of meters long, gazing coldly at the sea giants.

Resonance Spell: Abyssal Sea Whirlpool!

Feeling the throbbing and boiling of their blood, all the dragons simultaneously constructed a spell, their roars resonating through the clouds.

The sea began to boil, and millions of kilometers of ocean started to spin, slowly at first, then rapidly, compressing and collapsing towards the center.

Within the spell's range, underwater mountains thousands of meters high shattered, and all creatures within were instantly ground to a pulp, mixing with the seawater and adding a bloody tinge.

The sea giants' territory was at the center of this abyssal whirlpool, bearing the greatest pressure.

The sea giants were in a panic.

To them, the usually harmless and gentle sea had become deadly for the first time.

They could still manipulate the sea, but they couldn't affect the terrifying whirlpool.

This spell's power exceeded that of a typical demigod attack.

"This is bad!"

The sea giant king's pupils shrank to pinpoints.

"Ahhh!"

He roared, raising his trident to wield his ocean-manipulating abilities.

With endless magic power pouring in, the trident vibrated at high frequency, humming as the sea giant king tried to calm the raging sea. The other sea giants also worked to assist, trying to resist the abyssal whirlpool.

However, their differing wills and abilities caused friction, collision, and resistance, leading to meaningless internal consumption.

In contrast, the dragon army's resonance casting, led by the sea emperor dragon, operated smoothly and seamlessly, with their combined magic forming a powerful, orderly attack.

The sea giants' resistance only slowed the whirlpool slightly; it still moved with unstoppable force.

As time passed.

One by one, the sea giants' iron-hard bodies were torn apart by the whirlpool, and those who could fly were sucked back into the ocean, ground to blood and bone.

The sea giant king prayed for help from the giant gods, but no response came.

Being powerful races in the multiverse, the war zones between dragons and giants were numerous. Even during the largest-scale descent of divine avatars, responses to prayers were scarce.

"I refuse to accept this!"

"Kexser, if you have the guts, disperse the spell and fight me one-on-one. If I lose, the entire sea giant kingdom will be yours!"

The sea giant king, at the whirlpool's center, endured unimaginable pressure and tearing force. He was like a trapped beast, unable to escape.

Even the strongest legend couldn't resist a demigod-level attack.

Moreover, the dragon army's resonance spell, infused with almost all their magic, was even more powerful than a typical demigod spell.

Kexser didn't respond to the sea giant king's roars, only gazing down with contempt as the king's defenses collapsed, his body gradually torn apart.

Even during times of deep dragon conflict, five-colored and metallic dragons could cooperate against a common enemy.

Dragons revered individual might but never shunned collective strength.

In fact, they often enjoyed ganging up on stronger foes.

Gradually, the dragons exhausted their magic, panting heavily. The terrifying whirlpool, spanning millions of kilometers, ceased, and the boiling sea finally calmed, though now muddy and blood-stained, a testament to the gruesome battle.

Looking at the ocean, the once numerous sea giants, including their king, were gone without a trace.

With the troublesome sea giant king gone, the sea giants here were no match for the dragons, unable to resist the resonance spell.

"I'm exhausted, out of magic, and my spirit is drained."

At this moment, Kexser's eyelids drooped as overwhelming fatigue washed over him. His body felt heavy, his blood sluggish and his movements slow. The other dragons were in similar states, all affected by the heavy toll of the resonance casting.

"Fellow dragons, this is a great victory..."

Before Kexser could finish speaking, he felt a sudden and intense spatial fluctuation.

Under the wary gazes of all the dragons, a planar gate slowly opened, towering like a mountain, standing tall in the sky.

Through the planar gate, a legion of beasts, prepared for battle, could be seen in a towering forest.

There were winged sky wolves, night wolves with fur as dark as the night, flame wolves engulfed in fire, thunder wolves surrounded by lightning, bone-plated wolves, and winter wolves that exhaled freezing breath.

Every type of wolf found in the prime material world, whether savage beast or magical creature, was present.

The wolves howled fiercely, their eyes fixed on the exhausted dragons, baring their fangs with murderous intent.

In the next moment, with a resounding howl, the flying wolves surged through the planar gate, attacking the dragon army.

The dragons, surrounded by a dense pack of wolves, found their scales torn by magical abilities and sharp claws. Weakened from the resonance casting, their attempts at retaliation were evaded by the agile wolves, rendering their efforts largely ineffective.

Despite their fatigue, the dragons fought fiercely. Kexser, rallying his strength, unleashed a roar that shook the heavens, blasting several wolves away with his breath weapon. However, more wolves filled the gaps, relentless in their assault.

The battle between the dragons and wolves was brutal. The wolves, leveraging their numbers and agility, aimed for the weak spots in the dragons' defenses. Though the dragons were mighty, their exhaustion and the sheer number of wolves made the fight increasingly dire.

Kexser, sensing the growing danger, issued a mental command to his fellow dragons. "Hold your ground! We cannot let these beasts overwhelm us!"

The dragons, inspired by their leader's determination, renewed their efforts. Even in their weakened state, their powerful roars and spells created temporary clearings in the swarm of wolves.

Yet, the wolves kept coming, their howls filling the air with a chilling echo. The planar gate continued to pour more of these ferocious creatures into the battlefield.

Kexser realized that they were being overrun. He had to find a way to close the gate or they would be overwhelmed.

Gathering his remaining strength, Kexser prepared to make a desperate move. He focused on the planar gate, intending to unleash a powerful spell to disrupt its connection and stop the influx of wolves.

But before he could act, a massive, jet-black wolf, larger than any they had faced so far, emerged from the gate. Its eyes glowed with an ominous light, and a sense of dread washed over Kexser and the other dragons.

The presence of this alpha wolf signaled a new level of threat. It howled, and the wolves responded with increased ferocity, attacking the dragons with renewed vigor.

Kexser knew that if they didn't stop this alpha wolf, they would be doomed. He roared, "Focus your attacks on the alpha! We must take it down!"

The dragons, with their last reserves of strength, directed their attacks towards the black wolf. Fire, lightning, and ice rained down upon it, but the wolf moved with incredible speed, evading many of the attacks and retaliating with deadly precision.

Kexser, using his mental connection, coordinated a synchronized strike. The dragons' combined efforts finally hit the alpha wolf, staggering it. But before they could press their advantage, the wolf retaliated with a wave of dark energy, knocking several dragons out of the sky.

Despite the setback, Kexser pushed forward, determined to end this. He charged at the alpha wolf, engaging it in a fierce battle. The two titanic beings clashed with earth-shaking force, each trying to overpower the other.

As the battle raged on, it became clear that both sides were reaching their limits. Kexser, bleeding from numerous wounds, and the alpha wolf, battered but relentless, fought with everything they had.

In a final, desperate move, Kexser summoned the last of his strength and unleashed a devastating attack, hitting the alpha wolf squarely. The wolf howled in pain, its body convulsing as the energy overwhelmed it.

With a final, defiant snarl, the alpha wolf collapsed, its life force extinguished.

Seeing their leader fall, the remaining wolves hesitated, their morale shattered. The dragons seized this opportunity to drive them back, pushing them through the planar gate.

As the gate closed, the exhausted dragons finally had a moment to breathe. The ocean was once again calm, though stained with the evidence of the fierce battle that had taken place.

Kexser, panting and weakened, looked at his fellow dragons. "We have won... But we must be vigilant. The enemy will not rest, and neither can we."

With that, the dragons began to regroup, tending to their wounds and preparing for whatever challenges lay ahead. The victory was theirs, but the war was far from over.
