Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: The Terrifying Power of High-Tier Spells

In Garon's view, the previously turbulent but not overly intense elemental glows suddenly brightened dramatically, appearing like small suns in his detection-enhanced vision.

This was the dazzling brilliance characteristic of high-tier spells.

Of course, such a scene was only visible to spellcasters. Ordinary warriors would only feel a palpitation and a heavy pressure, as if the air had solidified in that instant.

In the western sky above the Golden League army, the air rippled and then shattered like a mirror, revealing an old man in a blue robe.

This was Kritchen, a high-tier spellcaster of the Curse School from the Principality of Barra, an eighth-circle mage.

The aged spellcaster's face was solemn as he focused on the rampaging constructs below, chanting complex and obscure incantations.

Elemental energy crazily converged around him.

Meanwhile, the high-tier spellcasters from Dimo reacted with alarm, casting a rapid series of low-tier spells almost instantaneously.

Magic Interception.

Anti-Magic Ripple.

Elemental Disruption.

These lower-tier spells rained down on Kritchen.

He remained unmoved, seemingly indifferent, continuing his incantations and preparing an unknown high-tier spell.

In the next moment, the barrage of low-tier spells hit Kritchen but bizarrely passed right through him, as if striking an illusion that didn't exist.

"It's Aseya's illusory image!" one of the Dimo spellcasters cursed, his expression darkening.

Kritchen's true location had been obscured by Aseya's illusion, an illusion crafted by a ninth-circle mage of the Illusion School. Her ability to create such deceptive illusions, particularly in a school as niche as illusion on the continent of Noa, was nearly unparalleled.

Seconds later, the continuous chanting ceased.

The swirling elemental energies paused simultaneously.

High above, the true dragons, including Garon, stopped their antics and looked down towards the battlefield.

Hum!

At the center of the battlefield, four hundred meters in the air, space itself began to tremble violently like fabric.

The next second, accompanied by cracking sounds, large fissures appeared, glowing with brilliant white light.

A hundred-meter-tall ethereal gate appeared, suspended in mid-air.

Before the gate was the continuously embattled Baki Plains, and behind it, a lush, verdant forest with giant trees swaying gently, their leaves twinkling with white light.

At the same time, multiple deafening roars of lions erupted.

White figures leapt from the dense woods, swept by the wind and vanished through the ethereal gate, stepping from another plane onto the main material plane of Noa.

Within a few breaths, more than twenty massive beasts arrived on the battlefield.

These were celestial lions, over thirty meters long, made seemingly of white light, their majestic manes imposing and their robust bodies wrapped in energy ribbons. Their mere appearance on the battlefield commanded the attention of all creatures.

Celestial Lions from the Beast Plains, a powerful type of beast from the Outer Plane known as the Garden of All Beasts.

Kritchen had summoned the Celestial Lions through his high-tier spell.

Eighth-circle Curse Magic: Pride of Celestial Lions.

"Curse School... It seems many of their spells involve summoning powerful beings from other planes," Garon noted, eyeing the group of Celestial Lions.

Though beasts, those from the Beast Plains were far stronger than any creature from the main material plane.

Such beasts could match some of the weaker adult true dragons in strength.

Garon even wondered if an adult white dragon could defeat one of the giant Celestial Lions.

The twenty-four Celestial Lions joined the fray, and with their thunderous roars, they lunged at Dimo's construct troops. A single swipe from one could dismantle the seemingly indestructible constructs as if they were mere toys.

Seeing this, the high-tier spellcasters of Dimo could no longer hold back. One by one, they revealed themselves and began casting high-tier spells to support their forces.

Hum!

As one spell completed, a bright teleportation circle lit up on the ground.

Dozens of powerful, diverse extraplanar creatures emerged from it.

Eyeballs resembling beholders, demons with an aura of evil, and elementals engulfed in flames—some charged at the Celestial Lions, while others wreaked havoc among the Golden League army.

Eighth-circle Curse Magic: High Summoning of the Outer Realms!

After the Dimo spellcasters entered the fray, more high-tier spellcasters from the Golden League also joined the battle.

As over thirty high-tier spellcasters from both sides engaged, the already fierce and chaotic battlefield escalated further into a state of intense combat.

This supernatural war had truly begun in earnest.

Whoosh!

A thousand-meter-wide red cloud appeared in the sky, drifting over the Ironstone Defense Line, then began pouring down

 like a torrential rain.

But these were not raindrops; they were droplets of molten magma.

Each drop that touched a soldier instantly turned them into a blazing torch, their screams cutting short as they turned to ash.

Eighth-circle Curse Magic: Cloud of Burning!

Dimo's spellcasters quickly used protective spells to defend against this large-scale high-tier spell.

At the same time, a Dimo high-tier spellcaster, young and wearing a robe embroidered with pentagrams, pointed a finger.

Seventh-circle Transmutation Magic: Field of Ice Blades!

Crack, crack!

The air in a particular area suddenly chilled to the bone, instantly forming blades of ice that whistled through the air, precisely slicing through the bodies of Golden League soldiers.

In an instant, a thousand Golden League soldiers were either impaled through the heart or decapitated, their blood drenching the earth, the pungent scent of blood reaching the skies.

Even high-tier warriors dared not withstand such formidable high-tier spell damage, and ordinary soldiers died instantaneously.

It was a horrific scene.

Yet, the casualties among the Dimo troops were even more severe.

Because the Golden League had more and stronger high-tier spellcasters.

Ninth-circle Illusion Mage Aseya, her body radiating an ethereal and illusory quality, her eyes swirling with vivid colors, waved her hand.

Eighth-circle Illusion Magic: Mind Burial.

Every Dimo soldier affected by Mind Burial fell in unison like wheat before a scythe, their bodies unmarred but their eyes lifeless, their life force utterly extinguished.

Whoosh!

A massive golden dragon flew low, smashing the head of a ten-meter-tall construct with a swipe of its claw, then opened its mouth to release a scorching breath of dragon fire, engulfing many Dimo soldiers in flames and smoke.

It flew low, scorching the earth with its breath, crossing the battlefield towards the Ironstone Defense Line to target the opposing high-tier spellcasters.

However, it was quickly forced to retreat by a barrage of spells and enchanted crossbow bolts that tore its hide.

Hiss!

A seventh-circle spell transformed into an unparalleled fiery spear, piercing the golden dragon's wing.

It howled in pain, crashing to the ground.

"Hmm, where did this golden dragon come from? And it's so weak."

The black and green dragons exchanged puzzled glances.

Then, the golden dragon on the ground was surrounded by Dimo soldiers, who thrust spears and swords into its body.

But with a sudden flash of elemental glow, the Dimo soldiers around the golden dragon burst into blood, their bodies dismembered into neatly segmented and extremely bloody organs.

Sixth-circle Transmutation Magic: Group Dissection!

Transformed into a golden dragon, Matthew cast a flesh reanimation spell, rapidly healing his wounds before soaring back into the sky to continue his rampage.

High above, the true dragons who had been slacking looked at each other.

Roel swallowed hard, wary, "There really are quite a few strong ones among these little creatures."

Garon's gaze flickered, noncommittally.
