After meeting Dr. Randy Finley, Cassandra's doctors, Iris and Xavier didn't immediately return home.
Iris didn't want to rush back because, this time, she felt like she was falling apart, realizing that her grandmother's condition was beyond help.
Dr. Randy Finley could only manage the disease to prevent it from spreading further and to alleviate her Grandma's pain. In other words, her grandmother had resigned herself to her fate, simply awaiting the arrival of death.
