"A long time ago, there was this little girl, who befriended a dragon. They kept each other company throughout the years, they were the best of friends some would even say they were lovers, I believe. Until that one night when knights marched into the village, they destroyed everything. Setting fire to the houses, threatening the villagers to speak of the dragon's location. The girl tried to protect her, leading her further away from the knights, hiding her in places she thought it was safe. Until the knight found them, the girl tried to distract them but it was already too late, the knights saw her. The girl stood in front of the knights defending her but the knight didn't care much and slapped the girl away. The sweet and innocent dragon didn't know what was going on but at that time she went berserk as she saw her only and most trusted friend hit by one of them. She flew up to the sky while killing every outsider that came into their village and landed a curse on this land, knowing that they had betrayed her and her friend. Then, it flew away into the night sky never to be seen again while leaving her friend behind."
A lady in her early thirties was laying on the bed while a kid with sparkling eyes, stared at her as she told the tale. The lady was pale and extremely sick as her child stood beside her. That adorable kid with round eyes and black straight hair, that almost covered his eyes but could still see the shiny gold eyes behind his hair.
"The wishing dragon!"The child yelled, excitedly.
"Yes, Yes. That's the dragon."The lady said in a weak voice."You've heard this story a lot of times by now. How many has it been 12?13?"
"15!"
"Ah...Yes-"
The lady suddenly coughed out blood while the boy panicked.
"Mom! Are you alright?!"The kid yelled while hastily passed her a drink."Drink some water! I'll go get the doctor!"
As he turned to leave, his mother grabbed him by the wrist.
"Child..."She said as she coughed, weakly."Promise me, you will find her...Find Lilith..."
" This is not the time, I need to get help!"The child yelled while kept glancing at the door and his mother.
"Promise me..."
"Yes!Yes!I promise!"
The lady let loose as the kid dashed out the door. He ran to a house a few blocks away from theirs and begged the doctor for help.
"Please help! My mother! She...she's coughing blood."
The doctor took his supplies and followed the kid out the door, racing. As they stood in front of the door the kid sobbed.
"Will she be alright?"He asked as his eyes teared up.
"She will be."The doctor ensured him and walked into the house while the child stood outside, waiting for the result.
After some time, the doctor walked out the door while the kid stared at him with light of hope in his eyes. The doctor avoided the kid's eyes, looking mad and sad at the same time.
"How is my mom?"The kid asked, worriedly as he saw the doctor's expression.
The doctor shook his head and the lights in his eyes faded away.
"But...But!You say my mom will be fine!"
"Kid...The curse got to her. There's no hope when it did. All we can blame is that damn dragon and the person that brought it in."
"Mom said the dragon is nice! It didn't mean to hurt our village! It just felt frightened-"
The kid was stopped by a slap to his face. He looked up to the man as a couple of tears rolled down his eyes.
"Look around you!"The doctor shouted, angrily."There are lots of dying people around us because of that evil dragon's curse and you dare say it was nice! Look at your mother! She died from it too!"
The kid was too stunned to speak, tears were leaking out of his eyes while the doctor walked away.
"I... I will find the dragon! And prove you all wrong! My mother will never say such a lie."The kid yelled, standing outside of his house before going in.
6 years after...
A black hair boy that seemed like a young teen with shoulder-length hair lay in bed, asleep. He was turning left and right as cold sweat rolled down his face. He suddenly sprung up from his bed and looked around the room, his gold eyes shining in the dark. He then placed his arm on his eyes and lay back on his bed and sighed.
"That dream again..."He muttered.
Before knocking could be heard from his door. He turned his face to the door while looking exhausted.
"Coming!"He yelled as he got out of bed and dressed up.
He walked to the door and pushed it open. A man that seemed to be in his twenties, stood in front of the door. His skin was tan and his hair and eyes were flaming red.
"Do you need anything?"The black hair boy asked."Are you a traveler? I've never seen you in this village before."
"Yes, well...I'm actually an adventurer."The man replied in a joyful tone."I'm-"
He was cut off by the boy.
"Then? What are you doing in front of my doorstep? "
"Well...As I was saying I came here because I heard this village was cursed by a dragon. And after asking almost all the locals, they told me, you know quite a lot about it."
"...I don't...Goodbye."The boy said as he turned around to leave.
"Wait! You must have a reason to know all about the dragon! So...you must have a dream, right? Especially, we are talking about the wishing dragon..and don't you want your village to be cured..."
The boy stood there, frozen in place.
"...I think I do have one wish I want to fulfill... "
"I knew it-"
"But... I'm no fighter and I don't know where to start."
"Ah...that would be a problem..."The man said while scratching his head.
But soon the man stared back at him with hopeful eyes.
"That won't be a problem!"
"Huh?"
"I'll teach you!"
"But..."
"And if it's about the coins, don't worry I got some with me from my last commission."
"Ah...I see."
"Well..that settles it. And since we're going to be partners for the time being."He said while he reached out his hand to the boy. "We might as well introduce ourselves. The name's Leo."
"I'll be in your care. My name's Liam."
"Sweet! It's been a long time since I had a partner."
"Why's that?"
"Do you know where the blacksmith of your village at?"
They asked each other at the same time. But only Liam replied to his question.
"That way just across the street."
"Lead the way!"
They talked as they walked to a blacksmith's shop.
