The orphanage was located on the outskirts of the city, part of the town that was almost abandoned. The area used to be slums, but as the unkept buildings fell down, injuring countless people, it became a dangerous place to stay even for the poor.
The children's shelter was the only place still intact, and it was a bright contrast to the ruins around. Children decorated the walls with their colourful drawings, making the place feel warm. Thanks to the donations, the director somehow managed to keep the house standing, giving the parentless ones a place to stay without fear of the rooftop crushing them in their sleep.
The surrounding was usually empty, but today a lot of individuals were loitering around, keeping their interest in what was happening.
