Chapter 4 - Waking up in a new body… and running away (1)

…wet … and cold…

Is it normal to be dreaming like this?

Suin tried to open her eyes but only darkness could be seen.

"Hey… Are you awake?" Someone shook her gently, but everything was blurry, and she couldn't see their face.

"Uhm… Five more minutes? Let me sleep a bit more…"

She then drowses off again, not aware of her surroundings.

"Eughk… I can't sleep properly these days…" Suin sighed bitterly and opened her eyes slowly. She dreamed about something just a few seconds ago but now it was fading from her memory quickly.

"It's still so dark outside… What time is it now?"

She shifted to her side expecting to find a nightstand. But her hand floated in the air.

"Did I move furniture yesterday? Where is my phone now?"

Suin sat up and tried to open her sleepy eyes fully. The lighted candle across the room comes into her sight right away.

"Oh d*mn! Did I leave the flame unattended again?!" She hurriedly gets up.

THUD!

"Uugh…" A painful moan left Suin's mouth.

"How embarrassing…! To fall from the bed at this age, ha ha ha…"

But the sudden pain cleared her mind.

No… something is wrong. The bed was tall yet narrow, unlike the one in her apartment. She ran towards the candle and looked around. The flame was small but now, she was sure.

This is not her room!

Then where is she?!

"Think, Suin! What did you do yesterday?" She grabbed her hair in frustration.

Kidnaping?

One-night stand home? But she woke up alone?

Or did she maybe drink and break into someone's house?

"No… I remember being in the office alone because my good-for-nothing boss dumped his job on me again… Then I left late at night. What happened after I left? I was walking… ugh!"

"My head hurts! I can't remember…" She breathed deeply while trying to calm herself.

"This… Where is my belly fat?!"

So flat!

And her arms are so thin!

And her… nightgown? Since when is she wearing a fancy dress to sleep?

"This feels ridiculous…! Don't tell me…!"

She found a mirror beside the cabinet. Suin nervously walked in front of it.

"Huh."

"Huh!"

"HUH!"

"Who is this beauty in the mirror?!" Suin wanted to drop the candle and hug the adorable little human that she was seeing.

The girl in the reflection was stunning. She looked young, maybe only 15 or 16 years old, but anyone can tell that she will soon blossom into a great beauty queen. Her long silver hair and purple eyes are a combination that cannot be found in the Suin world.

"I'm doomed! This is… transmigration! I've read so many isekai novels that it's now happening to me!"

Even if it sounds ridiculous, it was all the truth. She touched her new face carefully and couldn't get enough of that springy, smooth feeling. The body felt so real like it always has been her. From the eyelids to the tip of the innermost toe, she could move and feel everything.

She couldn't confirm the outdoor landscape but everything in the room slapped her face with a simple fact: This is another world! It was a small and very simple-looking chamber, filled with old furniture. It belonged to either a maid or someone… unfavoured.

After looking around, she found a book on the table.

She was relieved to find out she could read the text. Communication will pose no problem to her. The issue lay with the title of the book.

The history of the Kingdom of Alviraz.

Of all the novels she had ever read, why it must be this one?!

'The Flower of Alviraz' was the book she had read not long ago. As a fanatic novel lover, she was looking for something to read every day, the stories she has come across might count to a few hundred so far.

But no matter how many books she has read, she could never forget this one.

Because it was the w.o.r.s.t novel ever.

If circumstances were different, she would throw it away after a few chapters. But it just happened to be that time when her apartment, due to a heavy rainstorm, was met with a power outage. Without the connection, she could either die of boredom or just finish the only novel she downloaded in time.

"Why it must be this one…!" Suin felt her world collapsing. Transmigration was like a rare opportunity to her, but it was wasted on such a horrible book. Where can she ask for a refund?

'The Flower of Alvirez' told the story of the count family. The main characters were the siblings of the house Randel.

After their father died on the battlefield, the family moved from the countryside to the capital city, where both became a hot topic in society. They were later involved with the royal family which resulted in Charissa Randel becoming a crown princess.

That's it. The story was as simple as it was boring, there was no plot twist, no enemies, and no face-slapping events. The main characters were also unlikeable and shallow. They have nothing charming about them.

If there was anything notable about the story, it would be the description of the Forest in the west of the country. The area had nothing to do with the story, but the narration of its beauty was impressive.

It took almost half of the book to describe the aesthetics and abundance of the Forest but thanks to the description of nature, Suin was able to somehow finish the story.

And not only that...

Silver hair, amethyst eyes… There was only one character from the book that came to her mind.

Arianell Fiore. The extra of all extras, the young maiden without a family backing, with their father always away fighting at wars and neglecting stepmother who thought of her as a parasite.

The illegitimate daughter of the count who for some reason was never put into the family register. She could never use the surname of Randel.

When news of count Randel's death was delivered, the countess called for her. Together with her daughter Charissa, they chased 16 years 16-year-old girl from the house.

"Where should I go now?" she asked.

"Come to think of it…" countess sneered. "Your slutty mother used to live alone in some house at the edge of the Forest, that place should be good enough for a dirt like you."

And that was the only time when Arianell appeared in the story. There were no more mentions of her.

"Let's run for it… The original story is trash material anyway," Suin made a bold decision. Before anyone else in the mansion awakens, she should just disappear and start anew.

Arianell will have a lot of problems surviving on her own, but in her body was Suin now. A 30-year-old adult woman, who can survive even a Hell Joseon, while working as a corporate's slave. During her vacation, she would not be afraid to camp in the wilderness under the starry sky and forage wild plants in the forest or shells on the seashores.

Yes, her survival skills are no joke, and she can make use of them now.

"No pants…?!" She opened the wardrobe and found a few worn-out dresses inside. The pieces were of low quality and patched in several places. Even the dresses worn by commoners have some complicated lacing, and finding a pair of trousers similar to jeans was an impossible wish.

"But I must say… Beauty! Why is your face so lovable? Even if dressed in rags, your look is still worthy of worship!" Suin exclaimed as she touched the face all over again. Because she was a simp for beautiful people. Whenever she met a person worthy of her interest, her eyes would fixate on them for as long as possible, be it a woman or a man.

There was nothing valuable for her to take away, nothing that she could exchange for cash, so she quickly grabbed an outdoor cloak and the book on the table. If anything, knowledge was always needed, and right now that absurdly thick book was her best connection to this world.

Looking around the room for one last time, she felt no regrets.

"A daughter of nobility? What a joke…" She has read far too many books to successfully imagine, how an illegitimate daughter was treated. Given the state of her shabby little room, she should be glad that at least no abuse was involved.

"Since it's my body now, naturally I will take good care of it… Just believe in me," Suin promised and then fled from the house.
