In the end, although Mason was a little disappointed, he quickly sucked it up and got to work. Anyways, it wasn't all that important if his clients were rich or not, but rather if they could pay for what they had bought. Considering the fact that he heard that the girls had bought the building, no matter how dilapidated it was, it proved that they had money.
With this thought in mind, Mason threw away all his distracting thoughts and quickly got to work. After being pointed the way to the rooms that the girls wanted the beds in, Mason quickly discussed with each girl to roughly understand what they wanted before getting to work. Grabbing large pieces of wood that he had already cut, polished, and decorated from the wagon, Mason brought them up in batches of two and placed them on the floors of the respective rooms before grabbing a toolbox that he had hidden in the back of the wagon and heading inside to get to work.
Starting from top to bottom, Mason first finished Ava and Lily's beds on the third floor, which were styled the same and were rather simple, simply consisting of a frame and a backboard that depicted a witch on Lily's bedframe and a knight on Ava's. Moving down to the second floor, he helped set up a frame for Haley in a regal style that had four long poles on the ends of the bed that reached up and had a canopy. Lastly, on the first floor, Mason set up a simple frame with almost no flourishes, with the exception of a small space at the foot of the bed that could double as a chair for Ahri.
Stepping outside, Mason wiped off a few beads of sweat before leaning against the wagon cart and saying, "Go take a look. If there's anything wrong, you can come and find me in the next few days to get it fixed. After that, I'll have to charge you, ha!"
Nodding, Ava thought for a moment before asking, "Mason, do you work for Gary? Or are you simply helping him supply frames?"
Scratching his head, Mason said, "Well, my dad is a carpenter, and I've picked up a trick here and there. He does most of the carving and woodwork at home, and Gary sends us a job every now and then for bed frames. For some of the simpler jobs that don't want anything special, I make the frames, while for the more complicated ones, I simply help set them up." Thinking for a moment, he pointed towards the top of the house and said, "For instance, the two-bed frames on the third floor and the bed frame on the second floor my dad made." Bringing his finger down to point directly at the building, "While the bed frame on the first floor I made."
Nodding, Ava said, "Would you two be able to take on a job for an archery range? I mainly need the targets, but I'd like a shooting area to be set up as well. It would mainly need a roof and a couple of tables, but if it's one complete item, that's for the best."
Blinking, Mason thought for a moment before saying, "I think so. The building shouldn't be too hard if you don't need any special walls, but we might have to ask around for the targets. I don't reckon you just want wooden targets. It's just that…" Mason hesitated for a moment as he recalled the messy and grassy yard he had seen out back through a window when he was working, "I don't know if you have enough space right now."
Thinking for a moment, Ava thought and said, "I can get the targets myself, but you'll have to set up frames. As for space…" Counting with her fingers, Ava made a few calculations before saying, "If you can get a group of people to help clear out the yard, I'll pay a copper for every ten square meters they can clear, and I'll give you an extra silver piece for referring people if they can finish in under a week." Pausing for a moment, Ava added, "I only need it cleared out a bit past the pond. Any further, and I won't pay anything. Oh, and you'll need to bring your own tools too."
Making calculations in his head, Mason thought for a moment before realizing that this wasn't a bad deal. Anyways, he could just drag along a group of his friends and their younger siblings. Although it might be a bit of a stretch to finish it in a week, at the very least, they could clear out enough so that his father's team could get to work in a couple of days. Nodding in agreement, Mason said, "That sounds good. I'll have to talk to my father about it before I can say yes, though."
"Alright."
Smiling at the prospect of more work, Mason became much more polite and said, "Alright, now that I've set up the frames, I can go back and get the mattresses for you. If you don't want, you don't have to come along for the trip back. I should be back in half an hour or so."
Nodding, Ava let out an indifferent smile before floating back to the back of the girls while Ahri took a few steps forward and said, "That sounds wonderful, Mason. Thank you for your hard work today."
Blushing, Mason nodded before quickly turning his head away and quickly pulling the horse to lead the wagon away.
Watching Mason run away, Ahri couldn't help but let out a small smile and mutter, "Isn't he like a little puppy? Running away with its tail between its legs."
Letting out a guffaw, Haley commented, "Oh, something is wagging between his legs, alright."
Rolling her eyes, Ahri gave Haley a glance before heading inside to organize and clean up a little bit more.
Although Mason had been relatively careful, a small mess had been left in his wake as the frames were assembled.
