The Duke of Arlington flashed Violet a merry smile as he kissed the back of her hand. She couldn't stop herself smiling back, despite the man probably being almost twice her age.
"It would be a pleasure to dance with you, Your Highness." Duke Robert's voice, low and melodic, was strangely alluring.
Violet gave a little laugh. "I'm afraid I'm not in peak dancing condition, my lord."
He grinned. "Nonsense. I led my wife dancing through her carrying our four little ones. I've no doubt you can do the same."
Violet could feel her smile dimming slightly when Duke Robert mentioned a wife. It was hardly surprising though. Such a handsome man wouldn't be running around unwed, especially not as an heir to a throne. Even if it was a barbarian throne.
