Chapter 34 - Deadly climb

Drayan should have had his neck cut, but at the last moment, in the last second, he activated his body growth genes, and his right arm grew to protect his neck.

The mantis' front leg actually collided with the gauntlet on Drayan's right hand, causing a dull thud.

This surprised the mantis. Who would have thought Drayan could grow a new arm in the middle of a fight in such a short time?

The mantis never expected a long blade to emerge from its left hand, nor that Drayan would have a right arm. The insect thought it had seen all of Drayan's abilities and that Drayan's last strike was a suicide attack.

The mantis' pride and Drayan's brilliant strategy contributed to a victory that seemed impossible. But the creature, still proud, refused to accept defeat without first killing Drayan. The lower part of the mantis, where the legs were, fell to the ground.

However, even after having its body cut in half, the mantis refused to fall and used its wings to stay in the air. It used its last strength to increase the power of its attack, making it difficult for Drayan to withstand the heavy blow of the mantis against his right arm.

The mantis showed all its determination at that moment.

"Why the hell aren't you dead yet?!"

The mantis was using its wings to fly, even without half its body. But the upper part of its body was more than enough to finish Drayan.

The mantis was fighting seriously now, but part of the mantis' waist was dripping yellow blood. The creature was weakening rapidly due to blood loss. Drayan was also getting weaker, and his legs were starting to tremble.

The mantis would soon die, and Drayan would soon be unable to move his body anymore.

The creature pulled its front leg back and attacked again, using all the strength left in its body. This blow collided with Drayan's gauntlet, causing sparks, and suddenly, Drayan was thrown aside.

The powerful blow made Drayan fly a few centimeters off the ground, and his body traveled 30 meters from where the mantis was. Drayan was on a mountain, and he was thrown off the mountain.

"You've got to be kidding me, right?" — Drayan fell from the mountain and couldn't help but complain in the midst of the free fall, without a parachute.

All he could do was... close his eyes, and not give up.

His promise was still standing. All the feelings of wanting to live returned to him. The flame in his heart grew and became larger.

"I won't die here!" — With this motivation, Drayan used his blade to pierce the mountain wall and slow the fall.

As Drayan slid, he used his feet to reduce the speed.

He used his right hand with the gauntlet to hold onto the mountain wall, but his fingers slid over the wall.

Drayan kept sliding and sliding, when he had slid 50 meters down the mountain, he managed to stop.

"Phew... I made it..." — He sighed.

"But... I will have to climb all the way back up now." — He looked at the sky and saw how far he was from the mountain's surface.

Drayan looked down and saw a city, the city of 'Filnin'.

I can't fall in the middle of a city with asphalt. If I fall, I will surely be turned into a blood jelly.

Seriously, why are these things happening to me lately? No... if I think about it, it's because I'm encountering stronger creatures, but they appear so unexpectedly.

Drayan would like to prepare first, or at least face creatures he could fight equally. But he understood he couldn't choose his enemy. Drayan just had to accept his cruel fate and formidable enemies.

Drayan used the fingers of his right hand to pierce the mountain wall as deeply as possible, and then deactivated the body growth genes, making the large blade in his palm retract and return to his body.

The pain in his arms was so intense that Drayan couldn't feel the movement of his arms.

He kept climbing, using his left and right hand, climbing as fast as he could. He was like a Mountaineer without equipment, and one slip could be fatal.

Gradually, his body's energy was draining, like a cracked water bottle. Drayan had to be even faster.

The mutant nutrients in his body were already losing their effect. And Drayan was losing a lot of blood from the cuts made by the mantis.

Everything was against him.

Not to mention that he had used the saw shark blade and at the same time the gauntlet, and this consumed a lot of energy. He hadn't deactivated the gauntlet on his right arm yet because he needed both hands to climb.

Drayan's arms were also burning with pain because he was still using the crushing wind fist to have the strength to climb.

Drayan felt that at any moment he would fall from the mountain. By itself, it was incredible that he remained conscious. His tolerance to pain and mental resistance were extremely high and beyond normal.

He started to feel dizzy, and a great weakness dominated his body, but even feeling all this, he gave his best to keep climbing.

"Just a few more meters, you can do it... Drayan... You can do it..." — He motivated himself to keep trying, clenching his teeth.

With a pale face, he approached the surface, with great effort. His vision was already blurry, and his head felt like it was going to explode.

He stretched out his right arm to grab the wall, but his fingers no longer had the strength to grip the mountain wall. Drayan felt he could no longer control his fingers.

Just a little more, a few centimeters, almost... So close...

His left hand lost strength, and Drayan slipped. His body's energy was gone, leaving him at the worst moment.

Is it going to end like this?

Drayan didn't want to give up, but his body was heavy, he couldn't even move a single finger. All he could do was give up.

The crushing wind fist technique was no longer active, along with the body growth genes, which made him lose the gauntlet on his right arm.

Drayan knew that at some point his adventure would end and he would die in a cruel way. But he was willing to continue this journey, even knowing the risks. That was his decision. He had to take responsibility for it.

Looks like my luck has run out...

Drayan closed his eyes and surrendered to death.

Dying a virgin, huh?

But as his body fell back, quickly, someone grabbed his left arm and pulled him up.

Drayan had finally reached the surface, the edge of the mountain, and someone had saved his life.

"Who... is it...?" — His voice was already weak, and he was having difficulty breathing. Drayan could barely open his eyes, but forced himself to stay awake for a few more seconds.

Drayan was lying on the ground, unable to move a muscle, so his vision was very limited. All he could see was a black shoe and a person wearing dark leggings.

"Nice thighs..." — Was all Drayan could say before losing consciousness.
