Chapter 7 - The Darkening Escape in the City of Dallen

"Is it only eight? I can handle it."

From the window on the third floor of the building, he looked at the dogs lying down in an alley between two buildings.

He jumped out the window, and shoved his feet down, hitting the ground hard.

The blow was ferocious enough to create cracks through the ground, and raise a cloud of dust.

The impact sent the dogs flying into the air. Drayan leapt up, drew his dagger, and used the spinning cut from stage 2 to slice through the airborne dogs.

It was all over in seconds. The eight dogs were killed, and had their bodies divided into two parts. His strength really increased.

His 'spinning cut' was much more powerful than before and he was moving faster.

He acquired this strength since the percentage level of his cells increased by 10%. Drayan had a power jump. The closer he gets to reaching 100%, the slower the evolution of cells becomes, and it is difficult to increase the percentage, but in compensation, the acquired power is greater.

For example, when Drayan had just evolved his medium-level evolved body into a high-level evolved body, Drayan was back to 0% evolution cells.

He had to start his evolution from zero after reaching 100% as he had to evolve high level evolved cells now, but he didn't lose any power from mid level evolved cells.

He had to start his evolution from zero after reaching 100% as he had to evolve high level evolved cells now, but he didn't lose any strength from mid level evolved cells after they reached 100%.

When Drayan went from 0% to 10% of his high level evolved cells, he got stronger. If you use math, it's like adding 10+10 and getting the number 20 as the result. So you can say that from 0% to 10%, Drayan gained an additional 20 strength points.

But when Drayan went from 60% to 70%, it's like squaring 10, or multiplying 10 twice. 10×10= 100.

From 60% to 70%, Drayan gained an additional 100 strength points.

Evolution of cells of evolved level (high) 0% to 10%: 20 strength points.

Evolution of cells of evolved level (high) 60% to 70%: 100 strength points.

The percentage is the same, both increased by 10%, but the strength acquired when it is close to reaching 100% is greater.

The percentage is the same, both increased by 10%, but the strength acquired when it is close to reaching 100% is higher. Thus, from 70% to 80%, a strength greater than 100 is obtained.

But there is a catch, such strength is only awakened every 10%. Which means that if Drayan had gotten 60% to 69%, he would only have gotten half the strength, he would have acquired 50 points of strength. But when he gained another 1%, and managed to reach 70%, he would have 100 points of strength.

So every 1% influences Drayan strength, reasoning, speed, resistance, and stamina Drayan, but every 10% Drayan gains a huge boost to his overall physical attributes.

Drayan, who had his cells at 60%, after eating 32% of Smiling Fang meat, and using 11% of Smiling Fang nutrients to feed his cells, he got 70%, and that 10% increase, made Drayan have greater strength than before.

Therefore, it was easy to kill creatures like the purple fur dogs, which only had a mid-level evolved body.

Drayan ate the eight dogs he had killed and shared some of the meat with his modified killer fish, then went in search of more dogs. Drayan was willing to get stronger before heading to the next town.

So, three days passed, and only Darkening returned. Drayan prediction was right, indeed, there was a powerful 'creature' in the city of 'Dallen'.

He was sure when he saw Darkening, with the side of the skin torn, leaving the rib bones exposed, and the body full of cuts.

Darkening also had a horizontal cut near his left eye, but his eyeball was unaffected, which didn't blind him.

Fortunately, Darkening somehow managed to come back alive from the 'Creature' that attacked him. When Drayan brought the Darkening back into his body, he was given all the information the Darkening had acquired on its journey. And his heart trembled when he found out that whoever had killed Grassh, and seriously injured the wolf, was a human.

He was pale as he watched Grassh and the mutated wolf fight against a person in an orange hood. When Grassh and Darkening entered the city, the creatures they encountered were black-hoofed beetles with rhinoceros horn.

They weren't big, they were the size of an ordinary beetle, although they had greater strength than normal beetles. Grassh and Darkening managed to kill them without difficulty, but on the third day, in the morning, in the middle of their journey...

Grassh was killed without being able to fight back, when an arrow hit him right in the head, killing him immediately.

Afterwards, an arrow flies towards the wolf. Darkening, with his reaction speed, jumped to the side, dodging the arrow that pierced the asphalt of the street.

Then, a shower of arrows appeared in the sky. Darkening had no choice but to run as he jumped left and right, dodging the arrows.

Darkening hid in the alley, amidst the shadows of the building. But as if he had a GPS on the wolf, the hooded person found him quickly. With no choice but to fight, Darkening leapt at the man to bite him, but the hooded man summoned a 180 cm tall Black Beetle to face the wolf.

Amidst the wolf charge, the Black Beetle used its long, curved, rhinoceros-like horn to pierce Darkening stomach, but thanks to the wolf agility and flexibility, Darkening turned his body in the air to the right, and dodged. After passing the Beetle, he tried to bite the man again, but the man was agile and leapt back.

But the Beetle was also fast, and managed to get in front of the wolf to protect the man. Darkening had understood that he had no choice but to take down the Beetle first.

The hooded man was unwilling to fight the Darkening directly, as the man knew the wolf is a mutated creature. It was safer to watch from afar and let his Black Beetle fight for him.

The two started to fight, the black beetle was flying around the wolf like a big annoying mosquito. With the Beetle's agility, and its long, upward-curving horn, the Darkening began to have difficulty dodging blows, and began to have its dark skin cut.

The Beetle flew from side to side, making cuts all over the wolf's body. The Beetle even inflicted damage on the Darkening face, wanting to pierce one of its eyes, but Darkening was fast enough to avoid a direct attack to the left eye.

Darkening did his best not to stand still, and tried to prevent the Beetle from reaching any important organ in his body. Darkening had to back up, jump over the Beetle, duck his head, twist his body to dodge. He had to do all this, in a few seconds, in a narrow place.

The Beetle was like a flying bull that always tried to use its horn to pierce the wolf body. Gradually, Darkening was adapting to the Beetle movements, and with its speed, the wolf jumped and bit the black beetle wing, and threw it into the wall.

But everything got worse, when the hooded man summoned another 180 cm black beetle, and 20 more small beetles. Sombrio was in a bad spot right now. He would have to face an adult couple of high level Modified Beetles, and 20 evolved level Beetles.

The two modified beetles did not have the same physical strength as the adult Smiling Fang, but in terms of speed, they were superior and had a strength close to that of the Fang. Darkening can't win from the two.

Darkening tried to flee, but was chased. The two Beetles continued to attack him, while the little ones tried to pierce the from Darkening eye, but his eyelids were too resistant for the evolved insects to be able to hurt him.

The small beetles only served to hinder Darkening escape, who couldn't open his eyes to know where he was going. Darkening needed to smell the sea and let his nose guide him.

Even though he lost a lot of blood, Darkening kept running. He made it to the edge of the sea and jumped out, swimming to the bottom.

The black beetles haven't been able to chase the wolf since then. Darkening spent the rest of the time, swimming until he reached the town of 'Becke', but unfortunately, there were killer fish that jumped on Darkening ribs, and began to devour his flesh.

It was very difficult to fight in the water, but Darkening had to do it. He killed many killer fishes. As his body is at a mutated level, evolved level creatures normally cannot harm him, however, the wolf already had many cuts on his body, the cuts that the modified Beetles made on him.

Then the fishes took the opportunity to bite the injured parts and made the wolf bleed. Darkening ended up getting hurt more than he should have in the sea against the killer fishes.

But Darkening was lucky not to have encountered any large groups of killer fishes as he made his way across the sea.

That's all that happened.

"Great. By the looks of it, I'm going to have to get into a territorial fight with another survivor. I will not give up the city of 'Dallen' because of him. I will punish you for killing the Grassh."

Drayan frowned, clenched his fists and teeth, and his blood boiled from rage.
