Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

After the amount had been paid his mother had been moved to another room where the operation was being done. Michael and Gayatri were standing at the front of the door to the room as Michael was tense while Gayatri tried to calm him down as the two were sitting on the chair.

"Calm down. Being all tense like this won't help." Gayatri said to him as she rubbed his back.

"I can't help it. This is a very important thing for me." Michael said nervously as he looked at her.

Of course, Gayatri understood why he would be so nervous. She would have to be a fool to not know. Whether his mother will come out of her coma or not will depend on this treatment and as a son he is rightfully nervous about it even if the doctor has given him their reassurance.

Gayatri knew that she would also be very nervous if it were her own mother who was in the same situation as well.

'Though I guess he is taking this situation much better than I am.' Gayatri thought to herself as she looked at him.

Michael is sitting there hunched as he clasped his hands around each other and gripping onto them as he sat there. He would occasionally glance at the door before he would sit back straight as he hoped that it would be a successful operation.

'I can't do much for him other than give him my support.' Gayatri thought to herself as she looked at him.

She wondered what she could do to help his mental state as him being worried all the time wouldn't do good for his own health, even if he is now a Player.

"Hey, about the team that Aravind had told us about? How about the two of us becoming a team for that?" Gayatri asked as she looked at him.

"Huh?" Michael was brought out of his thoughts as he looked at her surprised.

"You know, becoming a team, the two of us." Gayatri said to him as she looked at his surprised expression.

"Wait, really? You want to become a team with me?" Michael asked as he looked at her in surprise and stupefied as well.

'Alright. That seems to work. Even if it's only for a few minutes, having him not be that stressed would be good for him.' Gayatri thought to herself as she looked at him.

Though she also noticed how surprised and stupefied he was when he heard her saying that she is willing to become a team with him.

'Maybe I was being too cold towards him. Tch. Meeting with all of those men caused me to act like this but still... I should've known better than to treat him like that.' Gayatri thought to herself as she looked at him.

"Is that so surprising?" Gayatri asked as she replied.

"Well, considering how you seem to like to work solo and all... I was just surprised." Michael said as he looked at her, momentarily forgetting about the issue due to the surprising words that were said by her.

"I have been defensive regarding other men. Being the little sister of a gold Player isn't easy, more so because many guys want to become close to me so that they can also get close to Arun." Gayatri said with a shake of her head.

"That must've been annoying." Michael said as he looked at her.

"Yeah. The stigma of being the little sister of a Gold Player was put on me and you can't just brush it off no matter how much you want it to." Gayatri said a she sighed as she remembered her experience.

After her brother became a Gold Player he made sure that everyone and their mother knew about it and naturally his own family was also became known as well. Due to this, when she started highschool she was already treated with great respect by the other students.

Many always kept a respectable distance while the boys would look at her when they could. She could feel that they were looking at her for a different reason and she has also heard some of them talking about getting close to her to become close to her brother.

It was hard for her to trust people, both boys and girls. Many of the boys wanted to get close to her because of her connection to her brother and maybe her looks, though it looked to her like the latter was overshadowed by the former.

As for the girls, they were drawn in by the fame of her family and the attraction they felt towards her brother due to his status as well. She had been swarmed by them but she managed to read them and learn their intentions, a skill she had to learn to make sure that she is with the right people.

But if she were to think of one good thing that came of it was the fact that she has become much more adept at reading people by their eyes and body language as she had also learned about it as well to make it easier for her.

She sighed to herself before she found back on him a she smiled towards him.

"But, you aren't like that. So I want to become a team with you." Gayatri said to him with a smile on her face.

"Well, I guess that is a good enough reason. I will have to talk with Lakshmi about the arrangement though." Michael said as he went into thought.

"Yeah. That too." Gayatri said with a smile.

'She is a bit annoying though. But she is still his partner.' Gayatri thought to herself as she looked at him.

She then looked at the doors to the room as she remembered the reason for her starting the conversation.

'I just hope that the operation will be a success. Until then, I have to keep him occupied for as long as I can.' Gayatri thought to herself as she racked her mind for more topics to use.
