Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Chimera Ants - Assault 1

Kai and his team board the sleek and shiny airship that will take them to the NGL, the isolated and primitive land where the Chimera Ants have built their hive. They strap themselves in their seats and watch as the airship lifts off from the Hunter Headquarters, leaving behind the bustling and modern city.

They gaze out of the windows and marvel at the changing scenery, as they fly over mountains, forests, rivers, and lakes. They feel the fresh and cool air blowing on their faces, and the gentle and steady movement of the airship.

Morel: "So, Kai. How did you get into hunting?"

Kai: "Well, it's a long story. But I'll try to make it short. I was born in a huge mansion on Kukuroo Mountain, where life was harsh and dangerous. My parents were assassins, and they trained me and my twin brother Killua to become killers like them."

Morel: "That sounds awful."

Kai: "It was. Until one day, Killua and I decided to escape. We had enough of the killing and the torture, and we wanted to see the world and have some fun. We managed to sneak out of the mansion, and we ran away as far as we could."

Morel: "That must have been hard."

Kai: "It was. We had to fight our way through the guards and the beasts that guarded the mountain. We also had to evade our family, who were furious and determined to bring us back. They sent our older brother Illumi, who was the most skilled and scary assassin of them all, to hunt us down."

Morel: "That must have been scary."

Kai: "It was. Illumi was relentless and ruthless. He used his needles to control people's minds and make them his puppets. He also used his nen to change his appearance and disguise himself as anyone he wanted. He was always one step ahead of us, and he almost caught us several times."

Morel: "How did you escape him?"

Kai: "We escaped him by becoming hunters. We heard about the Hunter Exam, and we thought it would be a good opportunity to get a license that would give us access to many places and resources. We also thought it would be a good challenge and a good way to test our skills. So we signed up for the exam, and we met some amazing people along the way."

Morel: "Who did you meet?"

Kai: "We met Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio. They were our friends and allies during the exam. They helped us overcome many obstacles and dangers, and they also taught us many things about life and friendship. They were the first people who treated us as normal kids, not as assassins or monsters."

Morel: "They sound like good people."

Kai: "They are. They are the best people we ever met. And we are still friends with them, even after the exam. We keep in touch with them, and we sometimes go on adventures with them."

Morel: "That sounds like fun."

Kai: "It is. We have a lot of fun with them, and we also learn a lot from them. They have their own goals and dreams, and they inspire us to pursue ours. Gon wants to find his father, who is a legendary hunter. Kurapika wants to avenge his clan, who were massacred by a group of thieves called the Phantom Troupe. Leorio wants to become a doctor, who can help people in need. And Killua and I want to explore the world, and find our own purpose and happiness."

Morel: "That sounds like a noble goal."

Kai: "It is. And that's why we are here, with you guys. We heard about the Chimera Ants, and how they are threatening the world with their power and hunger. We decided to join the mission to stop them, and to protect the people we care about. We also decided to join you, because you are experienced and skilled hunters, and we respect you and trust you. I also just arrived from traveling at the Yorbian continent."

Morel: "Well, thank you for that. We appreciate your help and your trust. And we respect you and trust you too. You are very talented and brave hunters, and you have a lot of potential."

Kai: "Thank you for saying that. That means a lot to us."

Morel: "You're welcome. And I'm glad we met you guys. You are very interesting and cool kids, and you have a lot of stories to tell."

Kai: "Thank you. And we're glad we met you too. You are very wise and kind hunters, and you have a lot of knowledge to share."

Morel: "Well, thank you for that too. You're very welcome."

Morel: "Alright, let's go over the plan one more time. We are part of the infiltration team, along with Netero, Zeno, Knov, Shoot, and Palm. Our goal is to enter the palace and assassinate the King and his royal guards, before they can use their power to destroy humanity."

Kai: "Right. And we have a specific role in the plan. We are part of the distraction team, along with Knuckle and Meleoron. Our goal is to distract Pouf, the second royal guard, and keep him away from the King and our allies." They bond as a team, as well as friends.

They land the airship at a clearing near the edge of the NGL, where they see a row of wooden fences and metal gates. They are the only signs of civilization in the vast and wild landscape. They step out of the airship and walk towards the gates, where they are met by a dozen of men with guns and knives.

They are the NGL's border patrol, who are in charge of enforcing their strict rules and regulations. They wear green uniforms and hats, and have stern and suspicious expressions on their faces. They point their weapons at Kai and his team, and demand them to identify themselves and state their purpose.

Border Patrol: "Who are you and what are you doing here? This is the NGL, the Neo-Green Life. You are not welcome here."

Morel: "We are hunters, and we have a mission to enter the NGL. We have a license that allows us to do so."

Border Patrol: "A license? Let me see it."

Morel: "Here it is." He shows them his hunter license, which has his name and photo on it.

Border Patrol: "Hmm, this looks legit. But it's not enough. You have to follow our rules and regulations, or you can't enter the NGL."

Morel: "What rules and regulations?"

Border Patrol: "The NGL is a place where people live naturally and peacefully, without any modern or artificial influences. We only use natural and simple things, such as fabrics, names, and bartering and avoid using anything that can harm or corrupt themselves, each other, or nature, such as technology, weapons, drugs, cosmetics, money, violence, lies, or emotions."

Morel: "That sounds very…restrictive."

Border Patrol: "It's not restrictive, it's liberating. We are free from the corruption and pollution of the outside world. We are free from the greed and selfishness of the human society. We are free from the stress and anxiety of the modern life. We are free to be ourselves and to be happy."

Morel: "I see. Well, good for you. But we have a different way of living and a different goal to achieve. We need to enter the NGL and stop the Chimera Ants from destroying everything you hold dear."

Border Patrol: "The Chimera Ants? What are they?"

Morel: "They are a new species of insects that have evolved to become humanoid and intelligent. They have a queen who can give birth to thousands of offspring every day, each with different abilities and traits. They have a king who can rule over them with absolute power and authority. They have a hunger that can devour anything and anyone in their path. They have a threat that can wipe out humanity and nature in a matter of weeks."

Border Patrol: "That sounds very…terrifying."

Morel: "It is terrifying. And it's happening right now in the NGL. The Chimera Ants have established their nest in the center of the NGL, and they are expanding their territory and their army every day. They are killing and eating people and animals left and right, and they are planning to take over the world soon."

Border Patrol: "How do you know all this?"

Morel: "We have been investigating them for a while now, and we have gathered enough information and evidence to confirm their existence and their danger. We also have some allies who have infiltrated their nest and who are sending us updates on their situation."

Border Patrol: "Who are your allies?"

Morel: "They are hunters like us, who have volunteered to join this mission at the risk of their lives. They are brave and noble people who care about the fate of the world and its inhabitants."

Border Patrol: "I see. And what is your plan?"

Morel: "Our plan is to enter the NGL and stop the Chimera Ants from destroying everything you hold dear. But I can't tell you the details, because it is top secret. It involves a team of elite hunters, led by Netero, the chairman of the Hunter Association. He has devised a strategy that will give us a chance to succeed in this mission. But we can't reveal it to anyone, not even to you. It's too risky and too important."

Border Patrol: "But why? Why can't you tell us? We are the NGL's border patrol, we have the right to know what's going on in our land. We have the duty to protect our people and our environment. We have the power to help you and your team."

Morel: "I'm sorry, but you don't. You don't have the right, the duty, or the power to interfere with our mission. You don't have the license, the skills, or the experience to join our team. You don't have the knowledge, the resources, or the authority to support our plan. You are not hunters, you are not allies, you are not part of this. You are outsiders, you are obstacles, you are liabilities."

Kai: "Look, we don't have time for this. We have to get to the nest of the Chimera Ants as soon as possible. They are a threat to the whole world, not just to the NGL. They are killing and eating people and animals, and they are planning to take over the world with their power and hunger. We are hunters as we have shown the licence, and we have a mission to stop them, before it's too late."

Border Patrol: "Don't lie to us. You are not hunters, you are invaders. Your documents and licences are fake. You have come to destroy our land and our people, with your weapons and your technology. You have no respect for our way of life or our environment. You have no right to enter our land or to interfere with our affairs."

Kai: "That's not true. We are not invaders, we are allies. We have come to help you and your people, with our skills and our courage. We have respect for your way of life and your environment, but we also have a duty to protect the world and its inhabitants. We have a right to enter your land and to interfere with your affairs, because we have a license that allows us to do so."

Border Patrol: "That's nonsense. You are not allies, you are enemies. You have come to harm us and our people, with your skills and your courage. You have no respect for our license or our rules, but you also have no power to protect the world and its inhabitants. You have no right to enter our land and to interfere with our affairs, because we have a duty to stop you from doing so."

Kai: "That's ridiculous. We are not enemies, we are friends. We have come to save you and your people, with our license and our rules. We have respect for your duty and your power, but we also have a responsibility to save the world and its inhabitants. We have a right to enter your land and to interfere with your affairs, because we have a plan that will allow us to do so."

Border Patrol: "That's absurd. You are not friends, you are foes. You have come to endanger us and our people, with your plan and your responsibility. You have no respect for our land or our power, but you also have no chance to save the world and its inhabitants. You have no right to enter our land and to interfere with our affairs, because we have a weapon that will prevent you from doing so."

Kai: "What weapon?"

Border Patrol: "This weapon." They aim their guns at Kai and his team, and pull the triggers.

A conflict erupts between Kai and his team and the border patrol. The border patrol attack them with their guns and knives, while Kai and his team defend themselves with their skills and hatsu's. A fierce battle ensues, with bullets flying and blades clashing.

Morel uses his Deep Purple to create smoke soldiers, who shield him and his team from the gunfire and distract the border patrol. He also uses his giant pipe to blow smoke rings, which trap and suffocate some of the enemies.

Knuckle uses his speed and strength to dodge the bullets and close the distance with the border patrol. He uses his Hakoware to punch some of them with his aura, attaching his nen beast to them and starting to charge them interest on their aura.

Meleoron uses his God's Accomplice to make himself and anyone he touches invisible and undetectable by nen. He also holds his breath and stops his heartbeat, making him completely silent. He sneaks behind some of the border patrol and knocks them out with his fists or chokes them with his arms.

Kai uses his skills with his two tonfas and his ability called lightning strike to fight the border patrol. He has honed his skills through the treasure memory box, which contains the memories and techniques of various masters and experts. He has also improved his skills through his travels, which have exposed him to different situations and challenges. He is confident and calm, as he faces the enemies with his weapons and skills.

He imbues his tonfas with lightning, adding extra damage and shock to his attacks. He swings them with precision and power, hitting the enemies with electric sparks and stunning them. He also uses his tonfas to block and parry the bullets and knives that come his way, deflecting them with ease.

He uses his lightning strike to unleash a powerful blast of electricity from his tonfas, targeting the enemies that are far away or grouped together. He charges up his aura and releases it in a flash, creating a thunderous sound and a blinding light. He electrocutes the enemies with high voltage, making them scream and collapse.

He fights with skill and grace, using his tonfas and his lightning strike to take down the border patrol one by one. He is unstoppable and impressive, as he clears the way for him and his team.

Kai and his team manage to overcome the border patrol and enter the NGL, where they face more dangers and challenges from the environment and the wildlife. They leave behind their airship, which is riddled with bullet holes and slashed with knife marks after the battle. It is smoking and leaking, and it can no longer fly or function.
