Seth had advanced a little into the world of Alderix, scaling very quickly through the Preliminary Level, Level 0: AnteRoom and creating an avatar for himself that he named 'Sethryn'.

"Sethryn," he thought, rubbing his chin and basking in the glory of his ability to come up with cool names.

"It's cool to pronounce," he said to himself at the time he was creating the avatar.

Sethryn was a tall, slender human in his late teens just like Seth was. There was not much difference between his facial appearance and Seth's, a feature that worked similarly for other players since Alderix replicated the physical features of an avatar's owner in the real world.

Seth focused on building up his character and garnering more experience in Alderix first before journeying to the Tower of Babel.

"If it's like the usual games and those level-up stories in the real world, then I have to build up my avatar first to get a hang of this world and my avatar," he thought to himself after creating Sethryn.

...

...

...

Sethryn gasped. He was breathing very fast and his heart also pounded fast and loudly.

He clashed with his opponent in midair and was pushed back by the force of their impact. He screeched backwards before sticking the sharp edge of his shield into the ground to halt his motion.

The red monster that he was fighting was pushed away as well. It growled loudly with saliva spurting from its mouth.

The monster was red with scars all over its body. It was unnaturally uglier and bigger than its green companions.

It was the main boss of Sethryn's current side quest.

Both of them had been at it for minutes now but Sethryn had the upper hand having dealt more damage on the Red Orc than he incurred on himself.

The prompts popped up in his head, granting him status updates on himself and his opponent as it concerned their life points.

"That's about fifty life points left for him," Sethryn deduced.

"I should finish this soon before he depletes mine."

Sethryn stood erect and dashed forwards immediately. Placing his shield in front of him to block any coming attack, Sethryn readied himself for another round of torturous exchanges between him and the Red Orc.

The Red Orc was getting slower and weaker with time. Its attacks were no longer as potent as they used to be.

Sethryn noticed this and counted it as an advantage for himself. Seeing how easily he was evading the attacks and blocking the ones that he could not dodge with his shield, Sethryn knew that he was close to defeating the Red Orc.

Blaamm!

Sethryn's shield spun in the air towards the orc, striking it in the face. The shield cut the edge of its mouth and forced it to stagger backwards.

Sethryn followed up immediately and leapt up to catch his shield before descending with it in a simple yet power-packed downward strike to the Red Orc's head.

The Red Orc fell to the ground with its eyes rolled up and its tongue loosely sticking out of its mouth as stars appeared to revolve around its head.

The Red Orc's life points depleted from twenty percent down to zero in a flash and the creature crumbled into shining fragments before disappearing and leaving a mana core in its wake.

Sethryn's eyes were broadened and full of glimmer when he saw what came next.

"What!"

"Isn't that—"

Sethryn's eyes were not deceiving him.

His mind did not play tricks on him.

He knew about the mana cores from Synapse and the value of each colour category of the mana cores.

The Red Orc had vanished and left a purple mana core.

Sethryn had earned a purple mana core that early in the game but in fact, it was not only him.

The purple mana core was left for any player that cared to complete the three-part storyline that was layered within the time between entering the Gates of Alderix and entering the Tower of Babel.

Sethryn had completed that storyline in the quest to build his avatar and fortunately, he was among the few players that came upon the gift of a purple mana core.

It was a great gift for his avatar since a purple mana core is valued at 100 Mana Core Points (MCP). Gaining 100 MCP, along with the MCP from the crimson mana cores gotten from the green orcs, this early in the game was a blessing.

The orc was defeated. Sethryn had won the match and completed the side quest along with the storyline of the Pinana Village.

The prompts popped up immediately to deliver the news of his victory with happiness all over Sethryn's face.

Sethryn nodded as he glanced over his profile. Satisfied with his efforts, he proceeded to upgrade his shield to the next level, losing the required coins in the process.

"Good thing, I purchased a map earlier."

Now it was time for him to take it up a notch and move on to the next level.

Climbing the Tower of Babel.

He summoned his basic map and activated the 'Teleport' skill that was tied to it.

In the blink of an eye, Sethryn found himself in an unusual space that seemed like a hall with ancient runic carvings on its four walls.

"What is this place?" he wondered while turning around to get better views of the room.

"Welcome..." a deep voice said, startling Sethryn.

"Equip Shield," Sethryn commanded, not wanting to be taken unawares. His shield manifested on his arm instantly and Sethryn proceeded a little more cautiously.

"...to the 1st floor of the Tower of Babel."
