Valor in a fit of rage swung his blade at the Goblin King but missed by a long shot.
Jogund landed some metres away from him. She smirked and cracked her neck before tossing Farlorn's head at Valor.
Valor caught the head and looked at it. Consumed by sadness and rage, he kept the head to a side and picked up another sword from one of the goblins he had killed.
The white-haired elf walked back to his initial position, armed with two swords and furious at his foe.
Jogund grinned at the elf. "Looks like I'm about to have some fun."
Theirs was a decisive battle. Their men were weary and now looked up to them for hope.
Whoever won the match was sure to gain control over the village for good.
They moved at the same time, leaving dust and pebbles to float in the air as they clashed with each other.
Valour crossed his blades in front of him, blocking the powerful slam that Jogund delivered with her club.
She giggled and forced Valor further down with her sheer strength but the elf was capable as he easily resisted the force.
They darted around the village at unnatural speeds that left spectators in awe of their skills. Their weapons clanked against each other from time to time, emitting sparks into the air.
They were fast, faster than normal eyes could follow.
"Come on, boss!" a goblin cheered Jogund on.
"Take the head of the bloody elf!"
"Yeahhhhh!" the goblins chorused.
They chanted praises and war songs in Jogund's name while lifting their weapons in the air.
The elves did not relent either. Their voices reached Valor as they cheered him on as well.
He was their strongest warrior and their last hope against the goblins.
"You can do it, Valor! Kill her!"
They clashed one more time and pushed each other away. Both landed and their feet screeched backwards while they used their weapons to halt themselves.
The Goblin King was impressed with her opponent's level of skill and his unrelenting personality.
"You're impressive," Jogund said.
...
...
...
The Goblin King and the elven warrior clashed many more times before their figures blurred out of the sight of their spectators and into the dense forest that bordered the village.
They jammed each other at tremendous speeds, setting off sparks into the air and leaving fallen trees in their wake.
It was an evenly matched duel with neither of them giving the other a chance to exploit.
Jogund's chilling voice echoed within the forest and reached the elf, "Well, well, aren't you a strong one? Such a shame your talent will be a waste."
Valor tightened his grip on the hilts of his silver blades and looked around the forest, searching for the source of the voice.
He took a defensive stance in preparation for his opponent's emergence. Surrounded by tall thick trees, Valor had trouble watching them all at the same time, especially with how fast Jogund had proved herself to be.
The ground underneath the elf's feet cracked open in an instant, creating a fissure that spread out around him.
"Shit!" Valor blurted out.
From under the ground, Jogund's menacing metal club rose and reached for the elf's chin in a powerful vertical thrust performed by the Goblin King.
Clank!
Valor brushed his blades against the club in a bid to deflect it away from him before backflipping gracefully to stretch the distance between him and the goblin.
Jogund emerged from the rift and shot her opponent a thumbs up.
"Nice reaction!"
Sliding her club to hang on her back, she jammed her palms together as though she was about to make a prayer.
Jogund muttered words that Valor could not understand but the elf did not hesitate and took a defensive stance with his swords ready to go at any time.
The ground quaked and a crack spread out from her, stretching far ahead as she continued her incantation.
The Goblin King slammed her palm on the ground when she was done, summoning a colossal beast to her side.
"Summoning Magic: Lady Of The Earth — Terramera!"
"What...the...hell...is that!"
...
...
...
Terramera.
A colossal creature of the earth.
Carved in the likeness of a queen and crowned with a crown of flower-shaped stones.
She was enormous compared to her summoner and the elf, towering over them in height by many metres.
Her shadow swallowed them up effortlessly.
Jogund had awakened this earthen beast to fight by her side against the valiant elf warrior using unknown magic incantations.
"Well, how do you like her?" she asked Valor.
Valor subtly trembled at the sight of Terramera.
He was thinking of ways to survive an attack from her knowing full well that the Goblin King would not just sit back, fold her arms and watch him move around so freely.
It was going to get tougher for him from here.
The massive golem had emerged from the ground, towering over Valor and the warrior knew he had to act fast.
His instinct pushed him to cast a transparent protective barrier of shimmering mana energy that surrounded him like a dome.
Jogund was impressed and tapped her club lightly on her shoulder.
"That's cute," she said.
"Crush him, Terramera."
The golem moved forwards, its movements were not slow for a creature of its size.
Bam!
Bam!
The golem pounded on the barrier relentlessly, causing Valor to stumble backwards under the immense pressure while his barrier cracked open like an eggshell.
Valor was left wide open and unprotected from Terramera's attack.
Seeing a chance, Jogund dashed towards him and swung her metal club at the elf. Her club connected with his side and sent his body crashing to the forest floor.
A pang of pain surged through his body, but Valor remained resilient.
He struggled to his feet, clutching his aching side and locking eyes with the Goblin King.
Jogund strolled a few steps forward. "You're strong, I give you that. What is your name, warrior?"
"Valor," the elf replied, wincing in pain that raced through his entire body.
"You're indeed valiant. How about I make you an offer?" she said.
"An offer that will spare your life."
Valor utilised the time to catch his breath, seeing that Jogund would rather talk at that moment than fight.
"Join me. Fight by my side. Fight for me, Valor."
Valor burst out laughing. He laughed so loudly that Jogund started to feel ashamed for asking such a question.
"What's so funny?"
Valor facepalmed and shook his head. He was disappointed that the Goblin King could even consider the possibility of him betraying his village and going under her wings.
He laughed out loudly again, mocking Jogund's attempt at recruiting him into her ranks.
"So foolish..." he muttered, straightening his posture.
His swords began to glow with energy from his elven mana as he stood erect to address his enemy.
"I will not betray my people for the likes of you fools!"
Jogund understood his take on the matter and grinned maniacally. Her golden eyes glowed and the eyes of Terramera glowed with golden colour as well.
The Goblin King was shrouded in a cloak of the mana that she ousted from within her.
"Well then, forgive me because I'll have to kill you now."
The greatest from the elven village and the greatest of the band of goblins now clash at the peak of their strength.
What fate lies ahead for both sides?
