"…"
I opened my eyes to a room bathed in a soft, grey light, the snow outside casting a muted glow through the window.
"Hmm…" for a moment, I felt as if I had just emerged from a dream, but the details of that dream eluded me. It was like grasping at mist, slipping through my fingers.
"I can't remember even if it kills me…" I whispered to myself, wondering what could it have been to make me feel this sort of pit in my stomach, and yet, I couldn't recall anything.
I wonder if it was one of those visions.
Maybe, who knows?
"Mm…"
Beside me, Lira stirred and let out a soft groan as she slowly woke.
Her eyelashes fluttered, and her shining ruby eyes met mine.
A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips, and I couldn't help but return it.
"Good morning," I whispered, my voice hushed as if I feared waking the entire palace with my words.
