"Hey Damien, will you just lay in bed all day?"

Goddammit, just when I was sleeping so well for the first time in a long time my idiot childhood friend just had to wake me up didn't he…

"Sign…"

Feeling Groggy I gathered myself and sat up looked out the window, and saw the fields being tended to. taking a deep breath while stretching feeling the sunlight hitting my room and warming it up.

After a minute I got up and walked towards my closet grabbing some simple shirt garb and my usual work pants. Quickly getting ready and finally looking at the door. after hearing some light knocking.

"What do you want, Ren?!"

"Dude you have been sleeping so long you have to wake up and help me do the errands man. I can't carry 4 buckets by myself you know?"

'Shoot! I forgot about the errands I was supposed to go with him to the river and gather some water.'

Typically I wake up early and get started on the chores but the bed was just so comfortable and just felt so peaceful.

"Yeah! I'll be down in a minute, I'll meet you at the usual place"

"Okay sure, just don't forget to grab the bucket before you leave the house"

"Yeah I know I won't repeat the mistake"

Finally hearing him walk away I looked out the window one more time admiring the view and the feeling of fresh air hitting my face. Taking a deep breath feeling it open my lungs the blood circulating through my whole body.

At least I will get some peace here and wake up before I deal with the chaos of the world'

Walking down the stairs and seeing an empty table I guessed that everyone was done with breakfast. I looked over to the kitchen and saw Mom doing the dishes.

Pulling the chair so I can sit down and tying the laces on my boots. Hearing the screaming from the chair being pulled my mom turned around and gave me her signature smile

"My, my, look who finally decided to wake up your Highness"

Hearing the sudden praise from my energetic mother carrying her signature red eyes and platinum hair. I immediately get flushed as It was yours truly who annoyed me rudely start of the day

"Mom, please I have to get ready and start on the chores you know it's my turn today"

Taking the light bag of some goodies, I was inspecting what was inside while Mother was talking to me. While snaking on some crackers that were laying around the dining table

"Yeah I know, here I packed some food inside here and there's some jerky you can eat while walking towards the river"

Giving a nod, after quickly making sure all the items that were listed were there I quickly closed the bag and tied down the straps so that the items don't fall out accidentally.

"Okay thanks, Mom, by the way, where did Dad go?"

I inquired curiously since I hadn't seen him or heard him all morning. I didn't even see his shoes by the door.

"He already went out and started going to Verice" Mom replied nonchalantly

"What! But he was going to take me the next time he went so he can show me around the city" Feeling a little frustrated I lashed out, the morning was a rough start to the day now news that Dad has broken the promise that he was going to take me next time made me feel like throwing a tantrum.

"I know honey but he had to go take care of some business"

'I guess, he couldn't help it. Maybe something big is going on and he needed to capitalize on it. Well, I hope that he at least brings something back.'

Feeling a little disappointed but I understood Dad worked as a trader after all and in that business, it's always first come first serve. I can't complain either, he is a good trader and makes quite a decent sum of money. At least enough for us to eat what we wanted and afford a decent home.

"Alright Mom, thanks for the food. I'm done here so I'm going to start heading out and start getting the water" I said under my breath, disappointment but acceptance ridden in my voice.

"Alright honey, have fun!"

'I'll try but knowing Ren I feel like he's just going to make this more frustrating'

Waving goodbye I started walking down the road towards the river which wasn't too far from here. Since this was only a small village, walking down it was just the usual greetings and mornings. I've always liked taking a walk in the morning. It feels so free.

"Hey Ren let's get this over with"

walking my way towards him, feeling a little irritated that my sleep was ruined again not by some beautiful voice charming me awake but an idiot of a best friend that throws a bombshell at me every morning.

"Oh hey, good morning to you too"

Ren bowed like he was meeting the emperor, exaggerating his movements and posturing himself to Damien.

"Let's save the formalities we aren't nobles or something like that"

"Tsk..." Ren clicked his tongue

"Yeah, I know but do you really have to have a stick up your ass 24/7?" Ren muttered sarcastically

Catching what he said under his breath and getting irritated I exploded with all the inconveniences that had been built up.

"If you had half a brain cell of a rodent we would have been out in the field militia training instead of doing some useless task like getting the water from a river when we have a goddamn well"

"Oh yeah…"

"Ren I swear I think you do this on purpose"

"Sorry about that Damien, I'll help you next time when you need someone to do a mundane task that way we are even. Deal?"

"Fine" Damien muttered.
