Chapter 9 - My Little Heart

The glass vessels floated an inch above the ground, and with her heart pounding, Wine stepped off of it with Ethan's help and landed on the ground.

And Ethan followed right after, leaving his own vessel; they both stood on the ground, no, an inch above it.

While,

Having lost the burden weighing upon it, the vessels floated 1 inch higher, now again at a 2-inch distance.

"Teacher, What was that now?" Wine asked, her heart pounding; they literally just floated!

Even though she couldn't see, and she could feel a 'ground' below her feet, the sense of weightlessness was a very unique sensation for her; she could feel her heart shivering at just the thought of it!

Like…what just happened?

She suddenly found herself in a firm embrace and then heard her teacher's voice, "Or what, you liked falling down with your teacher hugging you like this more?"

Her face heated up,

"N-No," she stuttered a reply out and clung to his white robes tighter so as not to slip due to a lack of vision. The 'water' on her hands stained his white dress all over.

"Ho…you don't like your teacher hugging you then?" he questioned, and Wine could hear the audible disappointment in his voice.

She instantly replied, "No!"

'Teacher is teasing me!' she realized,

the beating of her little heart intensified.

Her tummy felt like butterflies were flying inside.

The great young master, who never even looked twice at a maid…was teasing her!

She became silent.

"That was a strange thing I just found," Ethan didn't notice her silence and feelings, and replied in his usual gentle voice, cupping her cheeks with his somewhat cold hands, "We could call it a magical elevator...I guess." He sounded very unimpressed.

But Wine was far from being unimpressed; flying, or rather, floating, felt unreal to her!

Nevertheless, she asked what was important, looking towards Ethan with her cute face.

"Teacher, can I open my eyes now?" she sounded eager yet somewhat tame.

"Ho…is my disciple eager to see her teacher?"

She bashfully smiled; that was also a part of the reason…

Ethan exasperatedly sighed, and then,

she felt her legs lifting up from the ground, and then like she was floating in the air.

Weightlessly resting on someone else's chest,

Her teacher picked her up and started walking while holding her. She held onto him tightly, just like the princesses in the stories Mei Mei told did; her heart was unusually lively in this position, her mind unusually wandering…

She wanted this to continue.

As long as it could.

For some seconds, it was very calm and serene.

Then,

Ethan suddenly stopped, breathed out some cold air, and walked ahead.

She felt as if she had passed outside from a bubble, as if she had just passed a thin layer of water. Into a place with a different air.

Refreshed, she curiously asked, tugging the wet clothes on his chest, "Can I remove the eye clothe now?"

As if suddenly noticing something, Ethan spoke, an amused tinge to his voice's usual gentleness, "Oh, you can open your eyes. It's okay now."

Then he put her down on the soft seat, and excitedly, Wine slowly lifted her blindfold and squinted due to the bright light before looking around her in eagerness; she was in a small room with wood-padded walls and a bookshelf with some books.

She then looked toward Ethan who was wearing a clean white robe and froze, then gawked, not at him exactly, but at a doorway behind him. A doorway made of shining water!

"Young master…What is that?" her mesmerized voice asked, filled with wonder.

"That, my student, is resonance," Ethan replied, his own voice sounding fascinated, and in wonder.
